Good for a one night visit on the way through to Edmonton and Calgary

The stay was adequate but nothing special. It is an older hotel and the price fit the accommodations so we won't complain. It was clean enough - the bathroom was very small but clean.

worst hotel expericence ever in my life

I stayed at this hotel on friday, february 18, 2011 and had a plan for ice walk in early moning next day. Young boys next door -definitely under 18- started party around 12am and getting louder and louder. screaming, jumping and banging on the wall... Unfortunately, the walls between rooms at Amethyst Lodge is really slim and there is no soundproofing at all. I talked to front desk 4 TIMES (1am, 1:30am 3am and 4:00am) asking to change our OR their room buy they said there was no vacant room. On the way back to my room from frontdesk, there were drunken boys/girls trying to talked/threatened me on hall way. The hotel sent security guy to the room 3 times but these boys didn't stop their crazy party until 5:00am. I couldn't sleep at all and screwed up my whole trip. Next morning, the guy at front desk made me really mad and frustrated. I already paid full amount and I wanted only sincere apology from hotel but the frontdesk guy said those young boys were just talking NICELY and he doesn't need to give any apology to us. I stayed 3rd floor and water from both shower and faucet had no pressure and kept changing temparature between freezing cold and burning hot. I gave up taking shower. The carpet was really dirty and smelled bad. Bed sheet was too old and dirty. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER IN MY LIFE!!

Extremely well pleased

I stayed for two nights while attending a training session for First Responders. The Hotel staff in every department greeted me warmly and sincerely. I especially liked how the front desk staff seemed to be all from different countries with that fact listed on their names tags! The overwhelming friendliness of Jasper and it's people permeates this hotel. My room was surprisingly large with great views of the mountains. Only slight issue I had was that my room was near the ice machine... a little noisy during the night... however everything else overshadowed this one minor point.

first responders receive a discount in the restaurant! I was quite surprised for this and grateful that the management recognizes our work and sacrifices.

Prime location

An easy walk from train station, stores and restaurants, community center (for hockey), and hiking trails made this an ideal spot to stay.

The local museum is very well done and informative - a mistake to miss it. Papa George's has good food, friendly staff, cozy setting and close to the hotel.

large room but worn

The room was very clean and quite large, with a separate sitting area. Furniture rather worn. Warning: there is no elevator--if you have heavy luggage make sureyou are on the first floor. Also, is in walking distance of train station, but long, long blocks. There is no help for luggage: but to their credit, the desk did find someone to assist me.

Excellent value for resort location

When we first checked in, they had given us a room with a single queen bed. We were a family with two young kids - they immediately changed that to a room with two doubles which worked great. The location on the main street of the town was fabulous, and it was a short walk to shops and restaurants. We had been concerned reading previous reviews we read about the noisy train that passes the front of the hotel, but try as we could, we couldn't hear a thing! The kids loved watching the trains go by though!!

About the best Japanese restaurant we've been to (and we've been to a lot of them) is less than 10mins walk away - Sayuri has a couple of Japanese sushi chefs whose creations were as beautiful as they were tasty.
