We stayed at the WEM Inn to be close to the mall, and to avoid the REALLY expensive rooms at the mall hotel, so the accommodations met our needs. The hotel was not special in any sense of the word, nor was there anything that was really awful.
The best that I can say is that it was okay. We needed directions, and no one really tried to help us. In fact I had an address that I was trying to find, and the clerk kept trying to send me to another location, even though I explained that I had a reservation to pick up a rental car at a particular location. The front desk clerk couldn't find the WEM (or the Inn) on a map. Apathy was the biggest barrier to rating this hotel at anything better than just okay. But again, it wasn't the hotel that I came to see, it was the mall, and the location was the best that we could ask for.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
If you are traveling to the West Edmonton Mall Inn, chances are that you are traveling to visit the mall. It's extremely close, and very convenient. But make sure that you don't try to eat after 9:00 pm because most of the restaurants in the mall close between 9:00 and 10:00 pm, except for the really rowdy pub.
I spent one night here to shop at West Edmonton Mall. The location is great, it's just across the street, a shorter walk than across the mall! :)
The staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable, and they let me leave my car in the parking lot
to shop more on Sunday after checking out.
If you're there to see the mall and the city, it's a clean hotel and an awesome location, but if you're the type of person who likes to spend a lot of time in their room rather than out of it, I'm not sure this is the one for you - the bathroom is on the smaller side, there is no dvd player or RCA hookups on the tv so you're left with only basic cable or pay per view. But really, who goes to stay next door to the biggest mall in the world and stays in their room?
