Stoneridge Mountain Resort

My fiance and I were excited to try your resort. We had recently stayed at the Blackstone Mountain Lodge and are enjoying renting condos in Canmore instead of hotel rooms in Banff. Your resort looks great on all the websites. Our first "sign" of trouble was trying to find your location in the dark. Your sign is quite small, low to the ground and is dark in color which makes it quite hard to see at nighttime, especially if your eyes are strained from driving on the highway at night. We went past it once but phoned the resort and were given excellent directions so we were back quickly. Our check in was great, the first impression of our room was amazing! The kitchen was very well stocked for basic cooking and the whole place felt warm and cozy with the fireplace turned on. The view in the morning from out on the patio was outstanding!! I was very impressed with everything until I realized that my Dell laptop, IPAD and my fiances Toshiba computer wouldnt pick up your internet signal. We actually had to hunt to get even the network name to appear! Internet out in this type of area is very important so people can look up what they would like to do without having to collect a hundred brochures from the front desk. As we were getting ready for bed, I noticed that the master bathroom is the only room in the condo that doesn't have a lot of art and has a bare floor. It makes the room feel just that; very cold and bare on cold, naked feet. Maybe a large bath mat and some larger pictures on the wall would brighten it up in there. The art work throughout the rest of the condo is beautiful!! The only other suggestion I would make to be to offer a Do-Not-Disturb sign. I had to leap out of bed one day to ask the maid to not come in. The only other big problem we experienced was when we were coming back from the grocery store and noticed our ground level back door wide open when we definitely closed and locked it. This was the first day that housekeeping had come so I am assuming they left through the back and didnt shut/lock the door. I called the front desk to let them know and was told someone from Security would be looking around. We checked our belongings and nothing was taken so I called the front desk again and told them everything was fine. Then the next day when we returned home the door was shut but not locked from the inside. My fiance and I are both very careful with this type of thing and are sure it wasn't us who left the door unlocked. Housekeeping had again come on this day. Now I don't like to make asssumptions but 2 incidents one day after the next and on the only 2 days that housekeeping came? I am not accusing anyone of theft or anything, I just find it very negligent. Our belongings are supposed to be safe in our rooms when we leave and we had taken the necessary steps to ensure ther safety. It was your staff who was not careful with our security. This was the last I heard about it from hotel staff, when I checked out, it was as though nothing had happened. This isn;t enough to ruin my weekend and my visit and I will be back but I hope that the Internet is in better working conditions and that your staff is alittle more careful with our privacy, safety and belongings.
