good place, but train noise...
It was a pleasant stay (3 nights) and the facility was great, the kitchen was very useful, we had a lot more room than we needed but still cozy, everything was clean and in good shape, the only blemish was the train noise at night (problem shared by all hotels along the same street which ran along the freight train tracks), overall satisfied at this price compared to kitchen-less options in the same region

Adequate for the price
This hotel wasn't great and I've seen worse. The rooms needed a thorough cleaning along baseboards, there was some nasty stuff there. Otherwise it was cheap. You're typically there for the location. The parking lot is cramped. The is noise from the rooms above but most seem to respect the curfew, security makes a difference. Railroad runs through centre of town so many hotels back onto the railway. I knew this going in so I brought earplugs which helped. The kitchen as well stocked and I was able to make good meals with everything provided. DVD and book library available too with a video store nearby. However, the machines need to be updated in the rooms because mine would not play the newest to market DVDs.

3 bedroom - great value
We liked the 2 level townhouse. We were surprised at the size of it. Great for families or groups. Had cookware and dishes for 8.

Don't think we'll be back
The moment we walked in, the room wreaked from a strong odor of cooking/curry (soaked into the walls, from previous occupants). Immediately, we asked the front desk to change rooms and were promptly denied. Tried to open the window to air out the room, only to find the crank to the window was broken right off. Needed to pull the window open from the outside. Plus, had to visit the local store to buy scented candles to make it bearable. The lock to the sliding door in the bedroom (at ground level) was broken. The only security was a wooden bar along the bottom. The door was open 24x7. Hotel information failed to mention there was a railway track 50 ft. from the bedroom. If you can sleep through 3 separate trains rumbling past during the night, all the power to you. The place is outdated compared to other sites. However, the room was clean with recent laminate floor put in. In summary, the place is OVER PRICED and parking can be limited. Based on our experience, we will take our business elsewhere, should we return.

The best hotel of our whole trip.
The accomodations were clean and spacious. The location gave us easy access to Banff and the surrounding park, hiking and scenery. The rooms were beautifully appointed and homey. It was definitely the best place we stayed during our 2 week trip to Canada. And the prices were quite affordable. I will definitely return again.

Just OK
Hotel is showing signs of wear & tear - needs a facelift. Right next to railroad tracks and therefore quite noisy - busy road on the other side, so there is no getting away from the noise. Very spacious for the money, but rather dark and the "mountain" views were limited at best. I wouldn't stay here again.

Banff National Park charges by the day ! So you Americans (like us) that are used to a 7 day pass, be prepared. Canmore is not in the park, so you have to pay the $19.60 fee multiple times. A great hike is Johnston Canyon. Be prepared for rain.

Excellent choice for group or family
We were there to celebrate a birthday. Rented a 3 bedroom Cougar Chalet for ourselves, two grown up children and their partners. It was perfect - we had lots of space and were able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the room the next morning. Lots of excellent restaurants close by. Very good value for the money spent.

Tapas - Spanish/Mexican restaurant was excellent. Good food, nice atmosphere. The sangria and seafood fondue were especially tasty!
