Good location for downtown Banff
Bed mattresses were too hard. Unhappy that the hotel charges ONE DOLLAR for each LOCAL call.

Good location for downtown Banff
Bed mattresses were too hard. Unhappy that the hotel charges ONE DOLLAR for each LOCAL call. Staff helpful. Housekeeping did a good job. Would have been nice to include, at least, a continental breakfast.

Unbeatable location for the price
We were transferred to the hotel next door since they were left with no rooms. The staff at the hotel was very helpful. The location was outstanding. 2 blocks from the main street

Great view & location
One of the highlights of my Western Canada trip was Banff and the Bow View Lodge. It is not a new hotel, and at first glance it may not appeal to those who are used to the higher end lodgings. But my room was clean and spacious with a large window and sliding door to the balcony. The view of Bow River from the balcony was beautiful. The hotel upgraded my room to one with a king size bed and the river view...thank you Kayla! The hotel's location is within a 5 minute walk to the main shopping and dining thoroughfare in the city. And there's also a hiking trail along the river behind the hotel. All in all, a great location for the price.

Use the "Roam" bus to travel around the city, especially to the Banff Gondola up Sulphur Mountain.

Friendly guest
Inexpensive, but drew a very young crowd
We stayed here over New Years. The location was the greatest part. Within walking distance from the bus station, major shops and restaurants. However, there were many young young partying guests who were eventually evicted from their rooms, after many complaints. There should maybe be some sort of filter on the age of guests over holidays like this. The room itself was simple and small. The man at the front desk was probably the worst part about the stay. Rude and controlling, we felt as if WE were being treated as the partying teenagers.

Great location
I've stayed here many times and do enjoy the experience. The desk personnel are very friendly and helpful. I liked that the inn was within walking distance of the downtown area since parking downtown is difficult. I also loved the view of the river and the nearness to a walking trail along the river. The area can be a little noisy during the day because the RVs have a parking area across from the inn but generally this isn't a problem. My only issue with the inn came when I checked in. The room wasn't ready (in their defense I was about an hour early for check-in time) and I had to wait about a half an hour.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Leave your car at the inn and walk. Foot traffic is heavy and parking places are few. If you want to get a little closer before you start walking, there is a parking lot by the river that works well.

Clean, quiet, well maintained
Clean and quiet - near to Banff Avenue but because it is on the Bow it's much quieter than other nearby hotels at which we've stayed. Very well kept up. Would definitely stay here again for these reasons. Also appreciated the stash of umbrellas by the front door that could be borrowed during the rain.

In Hotel
Pool is in the neighbouring hotel (across the parking lot and through the parkade) so be sure to bring shoes & a bath wrap when you go down to the pool. Pool was nice once we got there.

Good price but very outdated
Great hotel for the price. The location is excellent and you get use of the Banff Park Lodge facilities next door. It is very 80's though and could do with a renovation. The staff were very plesant and helpful.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Elk & Oarsman has great deals for food and drinks during the week, eg Tues - Steak sandwich for $8 and Wed - Elk burger for $10. Meals are huge. Could easily feed 2. Beers were also only $3.75 a pint.
