Spring Ski Trip

A very friendly reception at check in set the tone for our five night stay. Throughout our stay, staff were courteous and proactively helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable and kept spotless by the friendly cleaning staff. We slept well each night and found the room to be quiet if a little warm, but that is a personal issue as I like to sleep in a very cool environment. We ate only once at the Chinook restaurant on our last night and were sorry that we hadn't eaten there more. We went to the Southwest Buffet and the food was outstanding with a wide variety of outstanding beef, chicken, fish and salad dishes to choose from. The desserts looked good as well but I was too full to eat anything other than the fruit cocktail. As we were skiing every day, we were able to park directly outside the hotel. If you are planning on parking outside the hotel during the day, Banff two hour parking restrictions apply. There is a limited amount of free onsite parking outside at the hotel and nearby partner hotels, otherwise there is a daily charge for underground parking, which we didn't require. There is high(ish) speed internet available, but this costs $10 for each 24 hour period although there are coffee places nearby with free WiFi. I used the pool and sauna facilities and found them to be well maintained. There was an ample amount of towels, shower facilities and secure lockers. The steam room was spacious and hot and the jacuzzi was comfortable with good jets. The pool area is great for children, but if you want an adult only environment, the spa facilities are adult only from 6-8 am and 9-12 pm. Overall, we got exceptional value and friendly service in a well cared for hotel that is centrally located yet quiet. I will definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed the Elk and Oarsman pub on Banff Avenue. It is located across the rad from McDonalds.

Good-but deposit

We spent 5 nights in this hotel. Location is great, room was enough big, clean, etc. There is no parking place close to the hotel, but you can park in the garage for 10 usd/day, i think its a correct price. Only bad thing is : we left the hotel on 8th aug, today is 20th but 1100 usd deposit is still on my card.( on top the 1000 usd charge) I called the hotel twice already, they said, its take time.... agree, but its usually 5-6days after check out, not 12+.....

great value

the hotel is nothing special, but nice. You definitely get more than you pay for. Second time staying here and I discovered how nice the view from the hot tub is. It's a difficult location being so far from downtown, but for the price, I'll gladly make the walk.

Basic in Banff

The hotel was exactly what I expected-- clean and basic, and a good value for the money. Staff were very friendly. Linens could use updating (slightly worn bedspread), but I had a wonderful mountain view from my balcony. If I wanted to splurge, I'd stay at the Fairmont in Banff, but I was there to hike and had no complaint.

There's a wonderful and moderate hike, right in Banff, along the Bow River that ends at the Hoodoos geologic formation-- about 10 km round trip. The meadows along the river are spectacular, brimming with wildflowers.

BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

Even though we were given a room in the furtherest part of the hotel, and our balcony view was of a tree that obstructed our view, for the price and location it was so very nice! The beds and the amenities were great!
