Basic in Banff

The hotel was exactly what I expected-- clean and basic, and a good value for the money. Staff were very friendly. Linens could use updating (slightly worn bedspread), but I had a wonderful mountain view from my balcony. If I wanted to splurge, I'd stay at the Fairmont in Banff, but I was there to hike and had no complaint.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

There's a wonderful and moderate hike, right in Banff, along the Bow River that ends at the Hoodoos geologic formation-- about 10 km round trip. The meadows along the river are spectacular, brimming with wildflowers.

BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

Even though we were given a room in the furtherest part of the hotel, and our balcony view was of a tree that obstructed our view, for the price and location it was so very nice! The beds and the amenities were great!

Downtown was very close, resturaunts were walking distance, and for a short drive you could dip in the hot springs!
