Good hotel

The hotel has a great location. Even though it is not in town you just have to grab a tuk tuk for 3 dollars and you are there in 10 min. The hotel has also transfers to town but they are scheduled so if you want to run on your time is better to take the tuk tuk. The breakfast is included and it is buffet type. It is not great but there was always something you could eat that was ok such as bread and fruit. The room are pretty big and clean. We tried to exercise one day but it is impossible. They do not have air conditioner on that specific area. We had problems with the shower. Cold water and hot water would come out without touching the faucet. It is pretty horrible to be standing there with warm water and just in seconds it turns really cold or hot. For the rest everything was ok, service is excellent and they were very nice to us.

Great service

Empress Ankgor was a very comfortable hotel. The room was extremely clean, spacious, looked very new, comfortable beds. They pay attention to details such as making sure there is bottled water stocked daily, an excellent included breakfast each morning, and free airport pick up and drop off (only 5 minutes away). The staff is friendly, speak English well, and the rates were very reasonable. There is a nice pool in the back with lots of trees, very scenic. The gym is so-so.

Great Service

The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Service was great at all times. Breakfast buffet was good. The rooms were spacious and very clean but beautifully decorated in dark wood furnishings. The pool, sauna and steam room were great amenities. there were a LOT of tour groups who stayed at this hotel so if you want something quieter, stay elsewhere. Only negative is that the internet does not work consistently!

The hotel is far from the sites and city but there are plenty of tuk tuk drivers who are willing to take you to places.

Perfect. It doesn't get any better.

This hotel was amazing! The entire property has a very old-world, Khmer or British-colonial style to it. Everything is marble or rich, solid wood and covered in colorful silk cushions. Ornate woodcarvings, sculptures, and fresh flowers abound throughout the hotel, and the hotel staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and seemed genuinely happy. The rooms are gorgeous, spacious, very comfortable beds, balconies, large bathrooms with shower and tub, refrigerator, and many TV channels. The room was immaculately clean and completely remade/restocked every day. All the rooms facing the back of the hotel have a beautiful view overlooking the pool and jungle. The pool is also great. It is a decent size, has plenty of lounge chairs, a bar, and plenty of sun. The hotel restaurant is huge and offers an extensive list of options for mostly inexpensive prices. The breakfast buffet is also quite large, offering various traditional Asian and Western dishes, fresh fruit, and eggs made to order. The hotel laundry service does a great job at a very reasonable price. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the airport, 10 minutes from town, and 20 minutes from Angor Wat. When you go into town, take one of the Tuk-Tuk's outside the hotel. They are open-air carts, pulled behind a motorcycle or three-wheeler. The drivers work specifically with/for the hotel, so you will usually see the same ones. They will take you were ever you need to go and will pick you up at whatever time and location you tell them. Overall, Cambodia was the surprise of our trip and this hotel had a lot to do with that. For the low price that I booked the room for, I was not expecting nearly this level of opulence. Truly, a shining memory, I am actually planning on going back next year and staying here again.

If you will be in Siem Reap on a Saturday night, go to the cello concert at the Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital. Dr. Richner is a Swiss pediatrician who has been working in Cambodia since the 1970's. He fled when the Khmer Rouge took over, but returned in 1991. He has built four hospitals in Cambodia to provide free services for children and their mothers. He also plays the cello, and every Saturday night, he plays a free concert (in an air-conditioned auditorium) for anyone how wants to come and listen. Between the musical pieces, they play a movie about the hospitals and their mission and Dr. Richner talks about the various things that are going on. He is quite comical, but also very passionate about the hospitals and their mission to help the children on Cambodia. The program lasts about an hour and a half and is very well done. It was quite moving, without being graphic or overpowering. It is a free concert, but you will likely be moved enough by the program to donate some money at the end. It is for a good cause.

A beautiful hotel, with attentive

A beautiful hotel, with attentive & polite staff. Spacious, comfortable rooms with excellent wifi capability. Location is about 10 mins from central Siem Reap, quiet & peaceful. Hotel shuttle bus is available in the evenings, & there are excellent tuk-tuk waiting near the hotel entrance - especially Savot, tuk-tuk 3, he is a safe driver, obliging guide, very friendly & won't rip you off (& is much cheaper than the taxis). The large pool is fantastic, beautiful garden setting with a terrific cafe. The hotel also has 2 other dining areas. I spent 5 relaxing days at The Empress Angkor & thoroughly recommend it.
