The Pullman and the Marriott are genuinely GRU airport hotels. The Panamby - like the Bristol - is located some way away, but should be substantially better value. The shuttle bus takes care of the journey, but check the times online, since a taxi
costs 60 Reals.
The hotel itself is sizeable and professional - it looks better than the Bristol. Breakfast is decent and the public area wifi works well. The rooms are fine. The hotel's real advantage is a decent-sized garden and pool, so killing time at the hotel is pleasant enough. Unfortunately, walking into town is less pleasant, since one has to work a few hundred years along a dual carriageway and over a flyover,
Hotel staff are helpful, but English is not widely spoken.
I went during the world cup so there was a long line at checkin. The staff was not very friendly, which was unusual given how friendly all of the brazilians were. Maybe just stressed out, but noticeable.
Room was decent, clean...nothing
extraordinary but certainly fair for the price.
I had a 17 hour layover in Lisbon then a 7 hour flight to Sao Paulo with a an 11 hour wait for a local connection. Booking was easy. I arrived 2 hours before l check in and was given a room immediately. Bar service at poolside was great where at
least 10 couples or families were enjoying New Year's Day. The only downside was being uncertain of shuttle arrival times. Got different answers from Information counters inside the airport. Look for the free hotel shuttle (different from pix shown--now gray with red swirls) Look for it in front of Terminal 2 in the median where the hotel buses park, 30 minutes after the hour except @11 Or you'll wind up paying about $40 USD for a Taxi. Take the hotel number with you and ask info desk to call for you to confirm times. Shuttle leaves for the airport on the hour even on a holiday.Airport was a little closer to SP than I imagined but only about 15 minutes away. Staff was accommodating and pleasant. It helps if you know how and say please and thank you in Portuguese!
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Buying water, soda or juice or wine at the airport is probably cheaper than at the hotel. I especially hate paying for drinking water...so I drink beer instead.
