IMPORTANT: Children under 18 years old are required to present identification at check-in and must be accompanied by both parents, guardians, or have permission of the Juvenile Court, in case of travelling with others. In case one of the parents is not traveling with them, they must show his/her parent permission to travel with the person accompanying them.

For a recent trip to the US Consulate, I was a little worried when my search showed that most of the city was sold out for my travel dates. And despite some negative comments I was pleasantly surprised to find it not at all uncomfortable, Good air conditioning unit and plentiful breakfast buffet. Close to restaurants and very close to teh Consulate. However, I do know that here are better values when there are no events in the city, Based on the price I would probably not stay there again

Be very wary of the taxi drivers around the corner from the hotel. Three bad experiences out of three. Get the hotel to call a cab for you.

Not a three star
I would rate as a two star or below. Hotel is old. Bed side lights have been removed. Only the light in center of the room. Room is smaller than Ibis at about the same price. Shower is good. Food was very good for both breakfast and diner. The fish stew was excellent. About 6 minute walk to the Carioca Metro. Getting to the Metro was safe. Streets in other directions looked a little problematic. Good local bar at corner on the square. Two theaters on the square for culture. Shopping near the Carioca. Europa restaurant on Av Chile near Carioca was good for business lunch but not much for dinner. Price was good.

There was always someone to speak
There was always someone to speak English at the Reception desk, ready to help at any time of the day or night; breakfasts: plenty to eat and drink, substantial; their restaurant for dinners provided fine dishes at reasonable prices.
