Area description
Leblon is a district meant for walking. If you choose the Oceanside, you will be able to cross the district- from jardim de Alah to the Visconde de Albuquerque canal-in thirty minutes and it is hard not to stop along this itinerary. Leblon has a wonderful assortment of restaurants and bars (for all kind of pockets), very beautiful people and a family oriented sidewalk that merge the natural attractions of the Zona Sul and a friendly neighborhood environment.

As the locals would say the best leblon is that you may go out at night on your sandals or high heels, no difference you will always find a good place to go, besides running into Joao Ubaldo Ribeiro or Chico Buarque, brazillian prestige celebrities while cruising the side walk.

The hotel is only 5 minutes from Lpanema and 10 minutes from Copacabana.

Great location and staff, very overpriced

The location of this hotel could not be better. There is an amazing beach right across the street and the hotel provides excellent beach service. The breakfast was good by brazilian standards. The only drawback was the cost which was at least twice as much as the room was worth. This is the case for all Rio hotels, though.

Great location, rooms need refurbishment

Ipanema and Leblon beaches are without a doubt the best places to stay in Rio. Of the hotels comparable to Marina Palace, this is the best price. Rooms could use some upkeep.

Fun in the Sun -- Great Leblon Hotel

Hotel was a great find. The area is very safe and comfortable. Walking distance to beach (accross the street), bars, great restaurants, and shopping. Rooftop bar is amazing for laying out. Drinks are a bit pricey, but not out of control. Service is kinda slow; you're on vacation so not a big deal. Rooms are good sized, we were in a renovated one and it was nice. Shower was amazing (size & pressure). View from room was very good. Tip: Go to the grocery store a few blocks away to get cheap water, wine, beer, and vodka. It's just like a safeway.

Buy booze, water, wine, & snacks at the grocery store. It's cheaper than hotel or duty free.

Great location, but needs renovation

Although the location was excellent, the breakfast was very good, and the roof top pool was perfect, the reason I would not go back is that the carpet in the room was torn, there was no comforter on the bed, and the bathrooms are in serious need of repair and renovation. Not sure why the hotel is great, but the actual rooms have been neglected.

Perfect location, wonderful service,

We booked the hotel very last minute which made us a little nervous. But when we arrived we were extremely happy about the awesome location. The price was unbeatable and the staff was very helpful. Our view was amazing! I travelled with friends which made our room perfect- we had three single beds (this was very difficult to come across). Overall, an exceptional vacation. And Rio is really a perfect destination.

Somewhere between good and great

The location was great right on the beach, but with the great location also comes the traffic noise along with it. Overall the hotel was good, but the rooms could use an update.

The half day tour to see Christ the Redeemer statue took ~ 6 hours. I would suggest taking a taxi to Christ Redeemer and save yourself 3.5 hours and $30.

Excellent service and location

We just returned from our second stay in Rio and our first at the Marina Palace. The rooms are slightly dated and small. We had the option of upgrading, but the space is the same, only newer furnishings. The room is kept very clean and tidy. The hotel was fabulous in terms of service and location, one of the best I've ever stayed in. Every staff person was helpful and polite. The location is great for the beach and walking and getting the feel of Rio. The breakfast buffet is great, as well as the food in the rooftop bar and the second floor dining room. The view from the rooftop could not be better! It was a great experience.
