soulless
nothing worked. the wifi was erratic and the television didn't work for two days. the in room safe didn't work and no one would come and re-set it. the toilet seat was broken.

Perfect Location
Ipanema Plaza was the perfect location! It was on a lively street, close to the beach, and had a great rooftop pool. Breakfast was basic. The staff, especially at the reception, were extremely unfriendly and borderline rude. The rooms were clean and spacious.

Great vacation
Hotel has great location. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for luxury, this is not a choice you should make, but if you can settle for reasonable comfort, this is it. Breakfast included in price was good.

Reasonable but needs work
Nice staff but reception desk seemed frustrated and satiated with routine. Need more support dynamics. Rooms clean. shower tiles need cleaning, door frames rusting, smell of cockroach/insect killing chemicals. Very important, airvents in shower do not work. Humidity takes over and it takes long for mirrors to clear. Utility closets dead roaches seen when maintenance came up to reduce hot water pressure. Refrigerators very week, innefficient, could not keep water cold. drainage dirty with meldew. Excellent pool area. Dry sauna less efficient than wet sauna/steam room. Breakfast excellent. Need small coffee pots to take to tables when requested. To get up to refill coffee staning on line ... food got cold. No facial tissues. So, toilet tissues had to be used. Chips on floor tiles need to be patched. EXCELLENT ENERGY SAVING CONCEPTS. HALLWAY LIGHTS WOULD BE ON ONLY WITH MOTION DETECTION.

Get a membership card at Zona do Sul and save 10 to0 20% on food savings. buy fruits and snacks. buy lots of water. when in a restaurant, do not accept ice cubes. just buy your drinks cold.

perfect location
great location, couple of minutes from ipanema beach and in a lively neighborhood. went in early december and weather was mostly sunny. hotel restaurant is pretty decent, the rooftop pool has spectacular views, workout room leaves something to be desired, but mostly the location is why to stay here

Short walk from hotel
walk down the street to the havianas store, buy a pair, and flip flop your way down to ipanema beach. right down the street is the mostly gay (but friendly to anyone) beach with beach service (lounge chairs, towels, and cheap caiprinhas) all delivered to you. spectacular views, doesn't get much better than this!

One block from Ipanema beach. Very nice. Large complementary breakfast buffet. Although, I''ve been to other Golden Tulip and this one wasn't as nice, as well maintained. Here you pay for the location.

Rio Ipanema Hotel review
Room costed a lot per night and was expecting a true 5 star or a true boutique hotel experience as was described but it all turned out to be a miss. Rooms were extra small, bathrooms smaller, very outdated bathrooms and had stain marks on the bed sheets and wash basin, toilet and bath tub. However, the hotel staff were friendly, helpful. Location is a plus. Good food especially the Asian restaurant had good choices. Buffet breakfast was included. Having said that, I Wouldn't stay there again due to unclean bathrooms, smaller size.
