Perfect get away from it all ....

The pool is amazing as it is positioned right next to the Atlantic Ocean and seems as if the pool extends into the sea.

Nice

This hotel suit our needs perfectly. It had a beautiful pool (get there early because both the chairs and pool fill up quickly), was right on the beach, and was in a pretty bustling area. I really liked the neighborhood. Restaurants, cafes, and bars were a short walk a way. Also, you could hop on the bus and easily get to any of the other popular areas/attractions in Salvador. The rooms were basic but very nice. My only complaint is that my in-law had some money taken from her purse, which she left in her hotel room. My advice: keep your purse/wallet with you and lock up your valuables before leaving the room and you will be fine.

Great Value on the Beach

Met with some friends for a weekend getaway and decided to stay at the Mercure. It seemed centrally located given Salvador's long stretch as a city. Plenty of dining and nightlife options nearby, but some caution is needed at night. Taxis are always at the front. Private beach with security, infinity pool with full bar service and an absolutely awesome view of the ocean. Slept like a baby with my oceanview and listening to the waves. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit and baked goods every morning. Minor drawbacks -- the bathroom is poorly designed, very cramped toilet seat area, and sink didn't drain well. But this was a great value given the location and service. I speak Portuguese so I didn't test the bi-lingual skills of the staff. You can do a lot worse with high-priced options in Salvador in the middle of nowhere and terrible service.

Dona Mariquita nearby is an excellent dining option for lunch or dinner. Authentic Bahian food where locals and tourists alike can mingle.

Mercure was great!

Accepted early check-in and late check-out. Very clean; nice pool; considerate and friendly staff. Great location, close to bus lines. I would definitely return.

Good Location and Helpful Staff

My ocean view room was quiet, clear and modern. The hotel is at the end of street which has three hotels around a small but nice beach. The staff is friendly, although with only limited English skills. A Wal-Mart owned super market is just 1 km. walk away, and there are several decent places to eat in the immediate area. It is located far away from the airport and center of the city, but that should not be a detraction. My only complaint is the gym is in a great space overlooking the beach but the equipment badly needs an upgrade, and is somewhat in a state of disrepair.

Fine place to stay.

Very nice location on the ocean with a pool overlooking the rocks. Slept without AC with the fan on and windows open to hear the natural beauty. Havent done that in a hotel anywhere for a LONG time. Would go back in a flash. Dinner was too much for one so split the main course dishes. Service was prompt and friendly and NOT bothersome. Ordered the fish stew Bahian style and it was declicious. prices not too bad and compared to Rio where I had just spent a few nights, this was 4 times the value at half the price compared to a hotel at Beach # 1 on the Copacobana.

Everything was excellent!!!!

Everything was great. The location is central, which is perfect. You have many restaurants to the north & south. They have alot of security personnel at the hotel & many taxi's waiting out front (all of the time). The daily breakfast buffet is excellent. I could not have chosen a better location. I will return soon. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, sofisticated hotel

The Mercure was a very nice hotel. The hotel, rooms, landscaping and pool were very beautiful. The ocean view was amazing! The staff was very helpful. After staying 3 nights at other locations, it was so nice to finally have many members of the staff who spoke english. The location of the hotel was not the best, but the security on the hotel grounds made you feel very safe and at ease. I would definately stay in this hotel again in the future.
