4 nights in bermuda
Overall not a bad stay. Room was very nice with a good third floor view of the harbor. Watch out for a few extra hidden costs, such as access to the indoor pool and gym are only free after 6:30pm (when the pool gets crowded and filled with ppl and kids). Indoor pool and hottubs are a nice option on days when the weather is bad. This hotel doesn't seem to be a great value usually, but it was a fine value for our vacation b/c we got lucky and found a 50%-off deal. Trolley to the beach is not too much of an inconvenience, but not as ideal as being right on the beach like a few other bermuda hotels. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on food no matter where u stay b/c bermuda food is pretty darn expensive, everywhere. Overall, would only recommend to a friend to be a good value hotel if they got a significant discount and don't mind having kids around and a large hotel environment.

Great Bermuda Escape
The Fairmont Southhampton is a large group based hotel. There was a massive State Farm boondoggle going on, but the hotel upgraded us to the club level, which made the stay very enjoyable for those not in the group. Very friendly staff, a full service resort. Maybe not charming and romantic, but an extremely well run resort.

Perfect beach getaway
Gorgeous hotel and beach. I would definitely go back. Only negative was food was a little pricey (breakfast buffet $29) and service at restaurants was a little slow but food was good and as long as you have time, it's not a big issue. Staff was very nice and helpful. Definitely make dinner reservations ahead of time. Ocean Club at the beach was great location and Bacci restaurant at golf club also recommended. The views are just spectacular. The beach was beautiful and peacful and very clean and an easy walk to adjacent public beaches equally beautiful. No one bothered us on the beach (selling things) as I had experienced at most beaches, it felt very safe and easy to get chairs and towels and even umbrella shades attached to chairs. Trolley from hotel down to beach came every 10 minutes and it was a 2 minute ride (10 minute walk). Make sure to join Fairmont President's Club program ahead of time and you have free wireless access from room and beach. Free ferry goes into town 3 times a day. Times may not be convenient, but you can take 20 minute bus ride for $2.50 each way which goes about every half hour. Very easy and convenient. Package deal was wonderful as we had 4th night free and we had no travel issues at all. It was a perfect vacation and highly recommend it.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you are looking for additional nearby dining option, the lighthouse has a restaurant that serves both outdoors and indoors. Its about a 15-20 minute walk from hotel behind golf course but you can also take a taxi if you dont walk to walk up a little hill. The pasta was delicious and the view was also great and just something different. Concierge recommended it and can make reservations for you.

Two thumbs up!
I can't think of anything negative about the hotel or the staff. If there was 10 stars, I would give the staff 10. From the moment you get out of the taxi till the moment you leave they make sure you are well taken care of in every way possible. With a genuien smile! The rooms were very clean. The food at the restaurants were excellent. The shuttle to and from the beach was a plus. The beach was breath taking. The only thing negative was that our stay was short. We will definitely stay here again and this time longer!

If you want to see the island. I recommend to rent a scooter. Much cheaper than taking a taxi and you can stop where ever you want. Just need to be careful since they drive on the left side.

Wedding Visit
Our visit to the Fairmont Southampton was only because our friends were holding their wedding at the hotel. We usually stay at another, smaller, property in Hamilton when we are in Bermuda, approximately every other year. I fully expected to find it too big and institutional for my liking....I could not have been more wrong in that assumption! Perhaps it was the time of year, but the hotel seemed surprisingly intimate for it's size! The staff was warm, welcoming and responsive to any and all of our needs. The food was terrific at each location where we dined.....breakfast at Windows, lunch on the beach at the Cabana and dinner at Wickets.....as well as the lovely poolside wedding dinner that followed the beach ceremony. The trolleys were always available whenever we needed one when we needed to get to the beach and back. We were able to truly relax for the brief visit...... the hotel property provided everything that we possibly needed to ensure that we could! It is pricey, but there isn't any venue in Bermuda that isn't ........ so, the value is well worth the visit. We will most definitely be back!

Early High Season Stay
Pros - checked us in early and, although we did not request it, upgraded our room without charge; the room was absolutely lovely. We called in advance and requested a refrigerator; the first one did not work, but it was quickly replaced. Beach is really spectacular, pool is lovely. Public transportation is great, but you have to ask the bus drivers to call out your stop; they are not marked nor is there any indicator panel in the bus. I would not recommend renting a scooter; the streets are incredibly narrow and everyone drives very fast. We found the hotel staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful in everyway; in fact everyone we met in Bermuda was friendly. Customs was a breeze in and out - nothing like some of the Carribean islands we've visited. Cons - we knew from our research that the hotel restaurant prices were VERY high; the only reasonably priced meal is lunch on the beach. We packed canned tuna, dried soups, instant oatmeal, etc, We also took a cab from the airport, stopped at a grocery store and stocked up on fresh breakfast and lunch staples. If you do this make sure you request the refrigerator in advance. Drinks are also very expensive so remember tourists may each bring in one bottle of liquor and one bottle of wine/champagne without charge - make sure you bubble wrap to avoid breakage. We had cocktails and appetizers of our own making each evening on the balcony before heading out for dinner. Meals - Henry VIII is a bit pricy, but worth the walk - yes, you can walk from the hotel...door man have a tendency to recommend taxis. Lots of inexpensive, but good restaurants on Front Street in Hamilton. Shopping - you can bring $400 worth of purchases home without incurring custom's tax. Hamilton has some nice shops, but be warned everything is expensive even when it's on sale. Other - you are charged for internet on a daily basis at the hotel and don't forget tipping is not necessary anywhere on the island as everything has a 17% service surcharge, but if you experience exceptional service a small tip is always welcomed. Bottom line - we plan to return to the Fairmont Southhampton at the beginning of the off season in September to enjoy ourselves all over again.

Had a good experience. Hotel farily impersonal and large but OK. Best for those seeking a quiet vacation ( as I was). I would say older couples would prefer it. Well situated and can take free ferry to hamilton. Overall pretty good experience.

I had a good experience but it depends on what you are looking for. If you want a relatively quiet vacation this would be a good bet. The hotel is large and impersonal but the amenities are OK. I would say it is better for older couples or people seeking a quiet vacation.
