Great resort to relax and soak in the sun!

After dodging Hurricane Sandy and spending 12hrs on the phone with United Airlines to try and keep my 1wk of vacation this year from evaporating into thin air, we flew in on the (literally) first flight into Bermuda after the storm shut down air travel along the East Coast. Immediately, we knew we'd picked the right place to get away. I'm from Seattle, and the beautiful crisp sunshine, warmth, and emerald sparkling waters we saw on arrival were such a contrast to...rain...rain...rain. The island is quite breathtakingly beautiful, and Cambridge Beaches was the perfect place to stay on this mid-Atlantic jewel. Wonderfully friendly staff, great individual cottages with views of the ocean (perfect for watching the sun set and rise), beaches on the property, three restaurants (expensive but in line with the other establishments in Bermuda), and with scooter rentals right on the property. There's free breakfast buffet, free afternoon tea, and a host of activities (both organized and impromptu) that you can try out. The spa and fitness options are also extensive and, for the former, expensive. In general, this is a great place for a romantic getaway, and most of the people we saw were coupled together, from the young to the very old and likely also very wealthy. I thought the resort was terrific, and I'd return in a heartbeat. The only downsides were a) Cambridge Beaches is located on the opposite end of Bermuda's 22mile length from the airport, and the cab ride will cost $60 each way; alternatively there are buses that will get you there in about 2hrs with one connection in Hamilton; and b) Bermuda itself does not offer much besides sun, golf, and beaches; don't expect much in the way of museums or historical sites.

Beautiful spot but not convenient to anything.

The hotel was on a beautiful spot with a clean private beach and extremely accommodating staff. The biggest disappointment was the distance from everything which made for expensive taxi rides. The hotel has a shuttle that goes to the dock every hour but stops working at 3:15. One night, my husband and I got stuck without any taxis at the dockyard for close to an hour. It was beautiful but I think if we went again we would stay closer to everything or get a hotel with a shuttle that works later.

Good Vacation at Cambridge

Beaches were amazing and are the best thing about this resort. The staff was also exceptional. The negatives are the fees associated with some of the amenities (H2O rentals and bike rentals crazy high) and the location. If you're happy with staying at the resort, not a problem. If not, minimum cab ride fare we paid was $25. $65 to get to airport. Restaurants are also overpriced. Then again, all of Bermuda is overpriced. But still, a beautiful island and a beautiful resort.

Beautiful sunsets!

Overall it was a pleasant experience, enjoyed the beautiful beaches and good food, the service was not that great, staff at the bar, taxis, some waitresses were a little rude and had a unwelcoming attitude. The food and things at the very small shop were overpriced but in general Bermuda is expensive. If u need a taxi for dinner in town you better make reservations at least 8 h in advance or you will not find a taxi to take you even though you see 4 empty taxis parked at the hotel. Also you can rent a scooter for a day at the hotel but be prepared to pay more than what they advertise for! They charge $30 more for insurance, so roughly would be $100 a day.

LOVED THIS RESORT AND ITS STAFF!!!

We just got back from a fantastic stay at this resort and could not have been happier. The only negative is that it is located on the very far end of the island, so to go anywhere you have to travel a little. You CANNOT beat the beach and eager staff that waits on you as you sunbathe. We were upgraded to a junior suite and it was spectacular. Large bedroom, large bathroom, large closet and patio with spectaculars views of the water. The breakfast is delicious and tea time is delightful as well. Take EXTRA CAUTION when renting motor scooters. There are many blind curves on the property and winding roads. (My husband and I have the road rash souvenir to prove it!) All in all, a fantastic place to stay. I'd go back in a heartbeat!!

Low Key Luxury at Cambridge Beaches

From the moment you arrive you are treated as a valued guest. The staff know your name and are so obviously proud of their island and hotel. They are polite, well spoken and unhurried. Always willing to do whatever you need, bring you what you want, or take you where you want to go. And they do so graciously. The place consists of cottages and buildings scattered about a peninsula, "woven" into the lushly landscaped property. Three beaches and two pools, one indoors, complete a perfect setting for a fully relaxing visit. The rooms are well equipped and spacious. We plan to return and love the feeling of being cared for so attentively by so many. When you visit you will feel that as a special type of luxury, just as we did, and you will want more and more of it.

Be sure to walk the Bermuda Railway right of way to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. Its 7.5 miles of mostly flat walking ending at the highest point for observing Bermuda in 360 degree splendor.

Remote location. Tired rooms in need of refresh.

Don't visit before May - early November. Whilst it's quiet (empty), the weather was cold, windy, rainy or all 3. Location is remote so you need to rely on taxis (expensive), local buses (takes 40 mins to get to Hamilton) or dangerous hired scooters (no hire cars allowed on island). Hotel has some good facilities - 4 beaches, though only one with loungers and 'serviced', tennis courts, gym, putting etc. Afternoon tea is a nice touch (though don't expect traditional British with scones, jam and butter). Food in main restaurant is good not great and limited choice (though you can always ask them to do something different). Staff were universally helpful and friendly. We had a cottage with a great view. Shame it was pretty tired and in need of a refresh - particularly the bathroom. Housekeeping was awful - we had to complain before she got round to sweeping the floor to get rid of sand. Toiletries not replaced. Breakfast represented good choice - homemade baking very good.

You are pretty much stuck to the half board meal plan. In theory this entitles you to eat at 2 other restaurants. Reefs is pretty basic and Fourways Inn is extortionate (wines over $1000 and all the mains had a supplement relative to our meal voucher).

Fabulous week

We had a fabulous week at Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa. The staff were outstanding and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The only weak spot was housekeeping--they need to be more attentive to cleaning the rooms and re-stocking the toiletries.

Great place for a relaxing holiday

It was off season in Jamaica but our stay at Cambridge Beaches Resort was relaxing, fun and pleasant in every way. The weather was not perfect but the pool, the mini golf, table tennis, lounges and bars made the trip thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was firendly and helpful. The meals good, though dinner was a bit on the expensive side. The resort was pleasantly secluded with their own beach and yet only a ten minute walk from a few local shops and restaurants. A great place to go for adults looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
