Off-Season Visit
Our first visit to Bermuda. King suite on the water with a view of Hamilton and Paget Harbor was very nice. Hotel ferry to/from Hamilton was handy. All the staff (esp. Andrew and Patricia) were very helpful as was the use of the shuttle from and to airport and also the hotel shuttle to the beach, golf course, and even to a near-by grocery. Food (lunch & Sunday Brunch) was very good though a little pricey, like a lot of Bermuda restaurants. Cab ride from Hamilton was about $10. Scheduled an island tour for us on Sunday (a slow day on Bermuda) with an very good guide (Ivan Smith).

Poor destination
The hotel looks extremely good in pictures, however on arriving we discovered that the pool was NOT heated, the pool bar closed for the season, and the only dining room did not allow us to buy breakfast or lunch, we had to use room service or go elsewhere. Dinner did not have too many selections, and the cost of a glass of house wine was $12.60 PER GLASS. This to me was ridiculous. When we left to go to airport our flights had all been cancelled and we had to go to another which was excellent. All in all a terrible vacation

Perfect Location
Newstead is perfectly located in the middle of the Island of Bermuda in Paget Parish! The hotel has some perks that I didn’t see at any others. 1) They have a free shuttle service to and from the airport 2) To and from Elbow or Coral Beach (the same beach) 3) A water ferry that will shuttle you directly across the water to the city of Hamilton. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating and even took us down the street to a local supermarket to get some snacks and drinks. It was a really pricey one called Lindo's I think? There are cheaper liquor stores around if you just want to get some for your room. The hotel also shuttled us to their other restaurant "Bleu" at a newly acquired property down the road. It was really expensive so keep that in mind. We did tip $3-$5 every time we were shuttled for free. Cab rides were a lot more expensive than that. My boyfriend and I rented a scooter for our last 2 days and it was so reasonably priced I was surprised! We explored the whole island and you can't do that any other way and at your own pace! It was a blast. ( only cost us $8 to fill up our scooter after 2 full days of riding) Every room in the hotel had a water view of the city of Hamilton. It was really great and the sun set to the left of the hotel..stunning views. The only downfall were some ants in the bathroom. Just make sure you don’t crumbs anywhere. Also, the bar closed at sunset. I heard it stays open late during the summer months. There wasn’t much going on at the hotel at night at all. You'd have to go to another hotel or take a cab into the city. I do recommend staying here if you're looking for a good bargain, a great location and close to the city!

Honeymoon isn't over
Beautiful
The hotel itself was beautiful...very simple and modern. We had a balcony room which was lovely and I would strongly suggest reserving a room with the balcony. I had heard a lot of the hotels in bermuda are slightly older, so it was really nice to be in a new clean room with crisp white sheets. We went to Bermuda on our honeymoon and my only negative comment was that I was disappointed that there were children every time I went to relax by the pool. However, I do want to share my advice for anyone thinking about visiting Bermuda - especially those who want to make it as economical as possible since Bermuda is an expensive place to visit. First, just a few blocks away from the hotel is a grocery store (There are also a few grocerystores in Hamilton and you could opt to take the ferry over because walking down the narrow streets takes some getting used to). Buy food and beverages that you can prepare for yourselves in the room. Wine and beer are sold at the grocery stores until 9 or 9:30 pm! We bought food for breakfast and for the lunches that we could pack with us. We also bought wine for our own happy hour before dinner. It really worked out great. Second, get the bus / ferry schedule and ask anyone to help you out understanding the routes and which passes would work best for your itinerary. Bermuda is a place to be explored and you will definitely not be staying at the hotel the entire trip. Since we didn't have success with the scooters (really think hard before renting them, the roads are narrow and windy and its not a slow paced island) and taxis can really get expensive, we felt very comfortable with the public transport. Other than that - enjoy! My next favorite thing were the excursions (wish we had better weather to do more) and dinner. Each night dinner seemed better than the last.

Great Vacation, beautiful view and pool!
Traveling on the water taxi made every destination easy to get to, from the ferries to the taxis to buses, and the driver was very friendly. The bellhop took us to the grocery store shortly after we arrived. Everyone at the hotel was pleasant and willing to help out in any way. The robes were a great touch along with the chocolate coins that were left at turn-down. The pool bar was ok but looked empty most of the time. It would be nice to have a few more water taxi times mid day. I would definitely stay at the Newstead Belmont again!.

Use the combination bus/ferry passes. We used a 3-day pass and did not have to hassle with purchasing tickets for each travel and the travel is unlimited for the days of your pass.

A great place to stay!
The Newstead Belmont Hills is a great hotel with a very friendly staff. The rooms have a great view of the City of Hamilton across Hamilton Harbor. There is a complimentary ferry that runs in the morning and the evening that will take you too and from the City of Hamilton. There are also shuttle buses that will take you to the golf course owned by the Belmont Hills as well as Cocoa Beach where you can use the beach there (the Belmont itself while on the water does not have a beach.) The hotel also has two great restaurants: Blu and Beau Rivage (which is the better of the two). The hotel is not very far from a bus pickup/drop off which is convenient since taxi rides can be very expensive. You get a complimentary round of golf with your stay, but there are club fees if you don't bring you own clubs - keep that in mind when deciding to give the course a try. It's definitely a place worth staying.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Since a lot of the restaurants are a little pricey, there is a gem called the Paraquet nearby that has great food at reasonable prices. You can try walking to it, but it's much easier to take the free shuttle to the Cocoa Beach hotel and walk about 1/4 mile down the road to the restaurant.

good choice
We went to the beach that the hotel provided a shuttle for. It was only five minutes from the hotel. An excellent beach. We also took the ferry into Hamilton everyday which was only five minutes. There were ferries every 20 minutes from 8-11 A.M. and from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. The hotel is definitely convenient. The naval museum that tells the history of Bermuda is very interesting; however, the rest is a tourist trap-avoid. Elbow Beach is an excellent beach-as good as any other beach in the Caribbean.
