Spectacular location
A beautiful and historic hotel that has closed the rooms in the main facility, making it feel abandoned and too quiet. Rooms are in buildings spread about the sprawling property.

Bermuda's bus and ferry service are affordable and easy to use. There is a bus stop across the street from the hotel entrance. Public transportation is a great way to meet the incredibly friendly native Bermudians.

The Swizzle South Shore is a nice Pub and restaurant. Awesome service and you should try Bermuda's drink, the swizzle. Also, Paraquet has great and affordable food with friendly staff.

Relaxing getaway
The hotel and room was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that not all of the hotel's on premise restaurants were open. I saw signs that they would open the end of April. Therefore, if you wanted to dine at Elbow Beach, choice of restaurant/food was very limited.

Good, but not perfect.
This hotel has lots of things going for it, great beach and grounds, friendly staff and good accomodation, though there are a few minor bugs (in some cases literally) that take away from the overall luxury feel of the resort. I would suggest that the manager of the resort stays a night in one of his rooms, to iron out some of the minor problems that together can become quite tiresome. Starting in the W/C, which has a louvred door leading into the open plan sink / bedroom - now no-one really wants to see / hear what goes on in that room! Also the light in the shower room is on a timer, which leaves you in pitch darkness if you dally too long in there. The audio in the bathroom didn't work, and loo paper was single ply prison standard. The bedroom itself was very comfortable, leading out to a small but adequate and comfortable patio. We were unfortunately infested with ants on 5 of our 10 days. A good supply of coffee was provided, and the mini-bar could be emptied and used for personal items. Cleaning was good but not great, floors were a little stained and grubby, and bird guano that was on the decking was not removed during the duration of our stay. Incidentally, if you are not an animal lover, you may not like the friendly but feral cats and chickens who troop by the dozen up to see you when sitting on your patio. The restaurants on site are privately owned (I.E. They have nothing to do with Mandarin Oriental), I would say the food and drink we tried was very good quality with good service, but you can do better to eat and drink in local towns for much less money. Would I stay again? Yes! But this resort is by no means perfect, and could work towards having the real Wow! Factor given the location and possibilities for improving the accomodation.

There is quite a good duty free shop at the airport where Rum can be bought at less than half the price of anywhere else on the island.

A Bermudaful vacation
Great experience--visited Bermuda during Dec holidays. Very good resort with great location: right on the beach. Had a Ocean premier room facing the ocean! Easy accesibility to public transport. Grocery store closeby walking if needed. Only drawbacks: no indoor pool/outdoor pool closes at 6 pm

Elbow beach is a great resort. Besides being situated on Elbow beach the staff really made our trip special. Elbow is also centrally located on the island. It's close enough from downtown Hamilton, but far enough away from the traffic.
