And the hotel offers easy access to the shops and restaurants of downtown Hamilton.

Very Satisfied

The service was great. Access to the Southhampton location was provided to get to the beach. Not the best location - no really active spots for young couples. More of a family or business oriented hotel. Bermuda is VERY expensive!

Slow Housekeeping

We stayed for five nights. The hotel was lovely. On the whole the staff were efficient, helpful and very friendly. Our biggest complaint was with the house keeping services. Despite leaving our room at 9am to spend the day site seeing, when we arrived back at 4.30pm to 5pm we would find our room hadn't been cleaned. A call to house keeping, who would use the excuse "house keeping were busy, but would have a house keeper sent to our room immediately". It meant we couldn't just relax or get ready for dinner as we had a cleaner in the room. The cleaner was also very lax with leaving tea, coffee, soap etc and most evenings we would have to call house house keeping again to get our supplies re-stocked.

A Great Experience

Charming to be there on Spring Solstice weekend before the peak tourist season began; there may have been few hibiscus and it was too early for oleander, but the sea was aqua, the sky blue blue dotted with white clouds at times; the heated pool inviting, and the all-round ambience of the Hamilton Princess combined with the friendliness of the staff made it a superb getaway vacation.

Take the local Buses! and ride the ferries. Also, the taxi drivers were charming and well-informed on Bermuda History and current events.

Beautiful setting near the downtown!

We were there over the Xmas holiday. Everything was closed on Xmas, followed by Boxing Day (Saturday), followed by Sunday (most places closed), followed by the observance of Boxing Day on Monday (when a few stores were open). The good news is that we could travel easily by foot, by ferry and by bus - all great. We hit the typical tourist sites - nice. The hotel was grand and tried hard to be very hospitable at meals, in between and at the desk. All in all, a very fine experience.

Many pros but a few cons as well

The hotel is in an excellent location and it developed its status as a historic institution long before Fairmont bought it. Since Fairmont took over several years ago the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff has declined. If you happen to hit the "Heritage Court" (lobby restaurant/bar) when it is little more than half full don't expect service at all...you will have to literally flag down your waiter and catch him/her while he/she is running by. It's saving grace is that the food is usually good. The hotel's formal restaurant, Harley's, is in an inconvenient location and lacks character. Front desk staff can be extremely arrogant and unwilling to assist or even answer a basic question without making you feel as though they are doing you a tremendous favor. We have been staying at the Hamilton Princess for over twenty years (long before Fairmont took it over) and the unfortunate truth is that Fairmont has not been able to uphold its former glory. There are much more personal hotel/bed and breakfast options in and around Hamilton. If you are set on staying at one of the Fairmont properties, the South Hampton is far superior to the Hamilton location in every way.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Leave the Fairmont Hamilton Princess to enjoy truly excellent dining just up the street in the city of Hamilton. There are multiple options that beat the Fairmont's menus both in terms of dishes offered as well as in the character of the restaurant and the staff's hospitality.

Another great long weekend in Hamilton

Our second visit to the Hamilton Princess this year was great. On arrival, much to our surprise, we were upgraded to a harbor view suite; a plush king sized bed with full bath on one side and a well appointed sitting room on the other. The only thing missing was access to the small fridge (it was in the locked wetbar). Cocktails on the patio overlooking Hamilton Harbor at sunset were fantastic! The entire staff were super helpful and personable - everyone we encountered were quick to offer "good morning/afternoon/evening", making us feel welcome

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Hamilton Princess is a five minute walk to Front St shopping, dining, and nightlife. We recommend Harry's at The Waterfront on Pitts Bay for late afternoon drinks where you might just happen to meet the owner at the corner seat on the bar. Bartender "Fletch" is the man!

christmas ghost town

Went to Bermuda by myself thinking in was in the carribean, surprised and dissappointed to find out it's off the Carolinas. Water was to cold to go in, cloudy skies & town was devoid of any life during X-mas holiday. Lonely going... Hotel staff advised me to reserve a taxi for 15 Min. ride back to airport, In the morning there was 7 taxis out front for 7 seven travellers all heading to the ONE & ONLY airport. No wonder the hotel does not provide a shuttle. $35 Taxi back + tip Each adds up to big$$$ for the islanders. Have a beautiful day...
