the hotel is lovely you have access to evertthing but i got the allinclusive and they didn't mention it only seasonal with some of the amenities so traveling in January 2013 is not a good thing due to no access to most amenties at the hote and you don't get to enjoy the real beauty of the hotel. the food was tasty but expensive the tolite does not work I had to fix it my self the person that came didn't do a good job because as soon as they left it broke again if you on a budget or with family but yes I would recomend this hotel all the Staff are worderful and helpfull. Remember to enjoy this hotel go in the summer and do all inclusive

Good place to stay - very convenient to airport
I went on my own to Bermuda for 3 days - but I have children. The beach and grounds are very child friendly and would have been perfect to bring younger children. Majority of staff are VERY friendly - bell hops, conceirge, front desk, waiters, bartenders inside (bartenders at beach not so much). I had an awesome massage in the grotto cave - not as cool in the cave as I expected but the masseuse was outstanding. It was expensive but so worth it! The one draw back is that the food is not at all impressive and I recommend eating elsewhere which would be hard to do with small children, unless you rent a car - not sure how possible that is. You can also use the bus system but that means long waits sometimes - not fun with small children. Maybe a taxi ride is your best option I found being next to the airport was not at all an issue - saw a plane once a day but never heard them. Overall I would recommend the Grotto Bay as long as you find options for other places to eat.

Clean, inviting, and great grounds!
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The beach onsite is clean and well maintained. The room view was wonderful, although the room itself needs some updating, but clean and spacious. The pool bar & grill was closed while I was there, and the climb up the stairs to the main house is definitely a work out! But, for me I enjoyed the extra exercise. the cave on site is great, & much better than the Crystal caves down the st. Location is close to airport, good for short trips, but I needed to take many long bus rides to get to the beautiful beaches on the west end, and 1/2 hr bus ride to hamilton. It is a little far away from everything. The prices for food and drink are very steep, so either opt for all-inclusive, or go to hamilton supermarket and buy snacks & sandwiches. Although it was tasty. Don't bother w internet, is pricey and dosen't work in the room. All in all, will probably return if visiting Bermuda for short time and want to be close to airport.

Great location, great value.
This hotel is a great value for the money in a great location. I when I return to Bermuda, I will certainly return to this hotel. I went to Bermuda and my travel guides told me the best way to see Bermuda is with a bus pass. I was skeptical. After returning, I could not agree more. Grotto Bay is a stop along four major bus routes (1, 3, 10 & 11) and a travel to St. George or Hamilton is a breeze. The hotel restaurant serves a very good breakfast buffet which is very reasonably priced. The room had all of the standard items which one can expect from a good hotel room. Internet service is extra. The television was full of static and had few channels. I did not go to watch television on vacation, but I would like to keep up with the news and sports scores. Hence I docked them on room comfort. When you book, you should know that the staff has a collective bargaining agreement (union) and gratuity is included in your price. Hence, there is no reason, in my opinion, to give any extra tips unless one receives extra special attention from one of the staff members. I did dock the hotel for the staff because I called for a bellhop to come collect my bags since I am already tipping them but no one ever showed up and I carried my bags myself. Other than that, the staff was great, gave good advice and was accessible and accommodating. All in all, I am totally satisfied with my selection of Grotto Bay. It was a good selection and I would definitely return there again.

Go eat at Swizzle Inn which is a five minute walk from Grotto Bay for a great little bar/restaurant with free wifi and delicious drink, the rum swizzle. On Friday and Saturday night Swizzle Inn has a really tasty barbecue menu as well.

Excellent value hotel choice
I came to the Grotto Bay in low season... relaxing, convenient, pretty views, really close to the airport but you don't hear any plane noise. You're a ways out from Hamilton and the rest of the island, but it's a nice scooter or bus ride over (scooter rentals are really close by). Among other facilities, there's a 24 hour pool, a cave you can go swimming in (awesome), and a (rather small) beach. The small size of the beach wasn't an issue for me since I went in low season, but in high season I think it would become crowded quickly. Another consideration, if you're into supporting local business instead of big chains, this is one of the few that's locally owned and is probably just as good. In general I got exactly what I wanted out of this place and would recommend it as a good relaxing place that's well maintained and has a good amount of amenities. However, there are probably better choices out there if you want ultimate luxury and don't mind paying more, or if you can find something with more amenities (or a bigger beach in high season).

decent
Not a bad stay. No early check in. They even made us wait 10 minutes after the check in time before we got a key. The hotel is close to the airport but nothing else really. It's about a 30 min bus ride into the town of Hamilton. Room was clean. Food was decent.
