Ideal for a single woman

Would recommend Sun, Nov 29, 2015
I really enjoyed my stay at Grotto bay. My room was lovely and overlooked the pool and sea. The grounds were well maintained. The poolside restaurant ideal for lunch with a take away service , I didn't use the main restaurants as I didn't bother with all inclusive, lots of places to eat locally using the very reliable bus service or a 5 minute walk to the Swizzle Inn. Perfect for a person on their own.

Holiday break at short notice

Would recommend Thu, Nov 26, 2015
Due to a hiccup in our travel plans we decided to travel to Bermuda at short notice. On the Internet the Grotto Beach Hotel was one of a few which showed up, as we were near the end of the season we received good discounts which made us book up for nine nights. The hotels location is a stones throw from the airport, but as there is few flights each day is not an issue. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, requests for additional coat hangers, kettle and adaptor plug were delivered promptly. The hotel sits in a lovely location, with its own beach, pool, spa, and even its own caves which you can swim in. Location wise it sits near the top of the island but on the main bus routes and between two main towns, St George (the old town) and Hamilton the current capital. There is a couple of taverns close by for variety and Hamilton 25mins by bus for a livelier night out. As it was close to end of season, there was some live entertainment, but as it was quiet lacked excitement for myself (but that could just be me). Summing up, beautiful Island and Grotto Bay Hotel is well placed for you to get the best out of your stay on the Island.

October family holiday

Would recommend Sat, Oct 31, 2015
Grotto Bay is a small 4 star personal hotel which we really enjoyed. Very experienced & professional set up. Eg there is a guest shower room for those checking out but on a late flight. Perfect. Great helpful hotel team from the pool bar, to Miss June on guest services (do see her when you arrive to plan your itinerary!), to house maids and gift shop. Lovely lovely Bermudian people. We are a UK family and used to staying in 5 star and I would say the only thing I really noticed different was that the rooms are quite tired cosmetically and a little dated but that didn't matter as we were out so much & the rest of the hotel experience made up for it & more. The rooms were made up everyday bathroom cleaned so I was happy. Food was really excellent and not ridiculously expensive. We were at the most $150 a night for three courses with wine for a family of four in the Palm Court restaurant- the daily specials were always lovely. There is a more casual breakfast (coffee shop style) option as opposed to buffet available which we appreciated with kids. We didn't do the all inclusive experience because of our young children as it didn't add up for us but had we been on our own probably would of for the 3 day minimum requisite. It includes bus and ferry passes, tennis and beach equipment hire eg kayaks, paddle boards etc. There were plenty of couples and older guests - don't know if that was because of time of year but it wasn't full of families. Being near the airport wasn't a problem!! Hardly any flights passing the hotel. Literally 5/10 minutes. It's quite a handy location between St George's and Hamilton but with young kids meant outside dining less viable in the evening. That's why we appreciated the in house dining so much. It's not that hilly a resort unless you have buggies or are of a senior age. We did most of the key attractions all good to do. We also played golf only on the Ocean View 9 hole but again good value included buggy, club house not much to write about a bit like a working man's bar but the course was great. You can hire clubs there for $25 depending on number of holes but again really good/enjiyable. Would have loved to have played Port Royal or Mid Ocean. All courses seem to require you to hit over the road at least once which was great pressure for those tee shots!! When we went the first 4 days the weather was cloudy and windy but the next 5 were amazing. But we still toured the island by local bus. You can't hire a car - if you don't do the scooter option (scary!!!) it makes for a relaxing holiday! It's a tiny island so very easy to get around. Overall we found Bermuda really safe and so friendly. A quaint (eg colonial & rainbow of pastel coloured architecture) pretty established island not overly commercialised. Beaches were postcard perfect and local people were lovely. If you want glamour/be with lots of people go larger and five star but I'd swap a 5 star canary island or Greece/Carribean resort only holiday for this small, relaxed and beautiful place any day.

Great location with a cave bonus

Would recommend Sat, Oct 31, 2015
We stayed here with our 6 and 8 year old daughters and 70+ year old parents. The hotel has great facilities for both age ranges and our kids particularly enjoyed swimming in the cathedral cave (as well as the pool, beach and Jacuzzi). The pool side restaurant was surprisingly good and afternoon tea a welcome break every day. Close to the airport and on the main bus route making travel around the island very easy.

We will be back ...

Would recommend Wed, Oct 21, 2015
Frequent Caribbean travelers, this was our first stay on Bermuda. Grotto Bay was just what we were looking for on Bermuda. The location was ideal though it meant the daily bus ride (highly recommended) to Hamilton was 20-30 minutes. Our room was on 2nd floor at beach level which we preferred. Rooms up the hill (an easy walk) at lobby / restaurant level might have had better views to ocean? The pool, beach, and ocean water toys were perfect. The staff were delightful and helpful to a fault. The whole experience was quite lovely and we will return to Bermuda, to Grotto Bay. Bob - room 221 - October 15-19.

Awesome Anniversary Trip

Would recommend Thu, Oct 15, 2015
This was our second trip to Bermuda, first was on a cruise and wanted more time on the island. Grotto Bay had everything we were looking for: dive shop onsite (it was ~100' from our room), restaurants and bars to choose from, beautiful beach, pool, great views, things to do onsite. The caves are really neat and we went swimming in the one, it is QUITE refreshing but definitely worth a quick dip in the crystal clear water. Since the dive shop - Triangle Dive - was one of the main reasons we chose Grotto Bay Beach Resort, I will mention that they are a great group to dive with, Marcus and Graham are excellent guides and really very fun. We hope to return again in the future.

Stay was shoirt, but nice.

Would recommend Wed, Oct 7, 2015
This property is a good value for the money. Very convenient to and from the airport. Also convenient to St. George's and the Crystal Caves. Clean and well kept and the beach is nice, albeit small. Food at the on premise restaurants was excellent and we felt that the service was very good as well. Our trip was cut short by the approaching Hurricane Joaquin, and the staff and the hotel could not have been more helpful. We ended up leaving two days early (the night before the storm hit) and the hotel was kind enough to refund us for the nights that we couldn't stay. We will definitely stay there again
