Perfect! It doesn't get any better!
Wonderful place to visit each time! I was there over twenty years ago and took my husband back this time and it was just as beautiful if not more so! The staff is so friendly and they are there still! Some of them have left and come back over the years which is really nice as well. The entire island is full of friendly people. The food be it at the hotel or the local hideaways is all delicious and such a treat! I was ready to live on the island and never return home! Don't go any shorter than 7 days two weeks is even better. Definitely eat at the hotel but also eat at the local places as well! Get on that Moped and travel around the entire of Bermuda while you are there! Experience all it has to offer from one end to the next - don't miss a trick! You won't regret the time you have spent here!

Dining tip:
In Hotel
Eat some meals at the hotel - but don't get on the dining plans at any of them. It is too expensive if you are looking to save a little. You can save a little money by eating out and sharing a meal as well and grabbing a few snacks for your room if you are that hungry! Splurge instead on all the activities and the room and enjoy yourself with a few really extravagant meals during your stay and mix it up! Enjoy the food flair! At Grotto Bay - we ate a meal at each of the restaurants while we were there and they were all wonderful! We also ate at lots of local places all over Bermuda and loved all our choices nothing was bad. The food was so fresh and tasteful we had to wonder what are they bringing into the US that our food taste so horrible comparatively? The portions are huge! So we noticed some families had their kids on the meal plan three times a day and their kids may have maybe eaten a yogurt for breakfast and maybe lunch and at $75.00 a meal I don't think I would be too happy that is all they were eating! I would assume they ate a bowl of cereal in the room from the grocery store across the street and then we saved that money and ate something really nice a few nights or went boating or snorkeling at that rate!

My Whole Family Had a Great Stay at Grotto Bay
My husband & I stayed at Grotto Bay with my 60-year-old parents and 36-year-old brother and we all loved the place. We didn't opt for the meals-included plan and ate all dinners at the Swizzle Inn, a two minute walk away. The $19/person breakfast was a bit steep, but we ate our fill and weren't hungry for a while. Taking the scooters to St. George for breakfast with the locals at Angie's Coffee Shop for a fraction of the cost was much more fun! The ice cream parlor across from the Swizzle Inn was a nightly treat. Tony's Grocery Store is a little farther up the street. We were lucky to stay in the building directly next to the main lodge (room 511), so there was minimal hill-climbing to get to the lodge. There were some stairs involved to get to the pool and beach, but not a major inconvenience. There's scooter parking in front of every building, so if you're staying beachfront, you can scoot up the hill to leave the property (rather than hike to the parking lot up top). A big bonus (to us anyway) was the underground pools in the caves. We were really enchanted by them and swam in them every day. The staff was quite helpful, the rooms perfectly fine (nothing fancy) and the grounds were immaculately kept. Though the beach on the property is small, it's nice. We hardly spent time on the property's beach anyway - too many others on the island to explore! We did snorkel out to the sunken ship just offshore - that was interesting. And feeding the tropical fish in the fish-feeding cove was fun. We saw on the grounds quite a few chickens, some gargantuan green slugs and some cockroaches, but wildlife is to be expected. None of them were in our rooms, so all was well. We really appreciated the proximity to the airport - a short $10 cab ride. A cab ride from the airport to the western end of the island could easily run upwards of $60. We watched the planes land from the beach, but could hardly hear them. The distance is walkable but can't be done as there is no sidewalk or shoulder on the bridge. If you opt to rent scooters (HIGHLY recommended), there's a Wheels Cycles at the Shell station next door and you can charge them to your room. Getting to our destinations was half the fun. Street signs aren't always marked, so study your map before heading out and know what town you're heading for and follow signs for that town, rather than looking for a sign for Middle Road, etc. The only drawbacks I found were the absence of a treadmill (a basic piece of gym equipment) in the workout room. Running on the island isn't an easy feat, and any length of long run is impossible. Also, the shampoo/conditioner product is atrocious. My hair felt like straw my entire visit. If you have long hair, pack your own conditioner!!! The water pressure in the shower was a bit weak, too. NOTE: The resort automatically bills you $18/day for maid & bellman tips (and most restaurants & bars include the tip in the bill). Overall, we were really impressed with our stay and would certainly return.

Beautiful Views
Grotto Bay is a very nice hotel - I felt it to be a little pricy, but there is not a bad view in the entire place. They have their own private beach which is very nice and it is close to everything. The rooms are spacious and comfy - all with balconies. Their workout facility could have been better.

Beautiful Location
Grotto Beach Bay Resort was extraordinary! The setting of being in acres and acres of lush tropical foilage, flowers everywhere, birds, chickens and lizards everywhere, caves to explore on the property, a three-tiered beach with palm trees and comfortable lounge chairs and bar, the low-water area full of thousands of fish to watch, the on-site boat rental, plus the breath-taking view of the aqua water of the Bay, all made this vacation like a trip to Paradise! The rooms were comfortable and roomy with private balconies to enjoy the view.

Cute
Not a bad location, close to the airport but not to Hamilton. Not much near the area but if you don't mind traveling to see things totally worth it. Dining options were fairly limited.

Grotto Bay... A Good Place to Stay
This was the second time we stayed at Grotto Bay and was again very pleased. The restaurants serve very good food, the service is fantastic and the employees are friendly and helpful. The beach is very clean, well groomed and has a nice view all around. Though its proximity is very close to the airport, I never heard any planes taking off or landing because they don't fly over the island. The Crystal Caves and the Swizzle Inn are within walking distance of the hotel, and you can rent scooters right next door.

Something for everyone
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort. The room was spacious and very clean, and there was lots of storage space in drawers and in the closet (and lots of hangers, too!) We loved having our own patio with a table and two chairs where we could sit and enjoy the ocean view. We liked having a choice of three different restaurants on the property, and enjoyed great meals and service at each one. The hotel was located within walking distance of the Crystal Caves and also The Swizzle Inn, a very charming restaurant and bar, and there was a bus stop right near the hotel, which made it very convenient to get around the island. With so many activities available at this hotel - pool, jacuzzi, the beach, feeding the tropical fish, renting kayaks, scuba or snorkling gear, playing tennis, exploring the caves on the property - there was plenty to do at this resort. We would definitely return to Grotto Bay!

Great Trip!
One of are top 3 vacations so far and we've been to over 7 Caribbean islands. Staff was amazing, wonderful and friendly. Don't expect for fast service at dinner they take they're time and want you to relax, your on vacation. We had a renovated room and it was nice with a breathtaking views to the ocean, the airport was close by but was not a distraction at all. The beach was warm, clear and beautiful. We did snorkel at the resort and it was great. They're are a lot of stairs to get to the pool and beach which were not problem for us, but small children or the elderly that may be an issue.

Beautiful grounds
Grotto Bay was exceptionally beautiful. Our room was well-decorated and spotless with a gorgeous view of the ocean from the balcony. The beach was pristine and well-kept with a clear teal ocean, white sands, and lovely stone formations. On the property were a walk-in lagoon filled with beautiful fish and deep green coral, mysterious caves ready to swim in, a clean pool, and a tucked away jacuzzi, all just a few yards away from our hotel room. The concierge service was excellent! Hamilton City, St. George's, and a number of other attractions and restaurants were easily accessible after purchasing a 3 or 6-day bus pass. The Swizzle Inn, Crystal Caves, and a Jamaican Restaurant were very close by. My only regrets were that there were not many options for an affordable breakfast, only pizza could be ordered to our room, many of the hotel's amenities such as the pool side bar and snorkeling were not available or optimal during the off-season, the hotel shop was meager at best, and there were some additional fees on the final bill which could not have been anticipated. Overall, however, I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family.

The Dolphin experience at the Royal Naval Dockyards was particularly fascinating. Cafe Cairo in Hamilton was our favorite restaurant. The Frog and Onion Pub and Hannigan's in Hamilton had great drinks and entertainment in the evening, though they seemed to be the only places w/ nightlife during the off-season.
