quiet place for a vacation
our stay was 5 days in mid may and it rained every day and it was only around 65, but the humidity was over 80%. we spent a lot of time at the resort and in our rooms and we had nice ocean veiws. The hot tub is very small here and there seemed to be overcrowing of it. The beach area is very nice and convenient to have a dive/snorkel shop right next door. There is also a swimming cave on site which was a blast! This resort is in the quieter part of the island and about 40 minutes to Hamilton and even further to the famous beaches. Spent lots of time commuting back and forth and there is only one resturant within a 10 mintue walk, everything else is at least 30 mintues away. They offer a nice breakfast and lunch, but I would not eat dinner there after the first night- food quality wasnt that great and is very pricey. overall this seems to be a great place for people who want to relax on the resort and maybe do a lttle exploring. I am more of an adventurer and for those adventurers out there I would stay clsoer to the southeast side where there is more to do and see!

Nice resort, Great staff
Grotto Bay is an older property that has been nicely renovated. Location is close to the Airport on a very pretty ocean bay with scenic views from every room. The best feature of the hotel is a very helpful and accommodating front desk and staff that go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable and pleasing as possible.

Short walk from hotel
Swizzle Inn at the top of the hill to the right of the resort is a great place to eat at a reasonable price. And the Elbow Cycle Rental is the best place to rent a scooter to get to the more distant beaches and restaurants. They will pick you up a the hotel.

Hills!
Not wheelchair freindly but the staff pushed my wheelchair up the hills ! The bathroom in my room was not accessible and they had to remove the main door in order for me to get in. The batrhroom tub was also was blocked by a glass half way and not very accessible for a wheelchair.

Much needed vacation
I had an amazing time at Grotto Bay. My only complaint/disappointment was that I was not able to get internet service in my room. Other than that my stay there was absolutely wonderful!!!

Great Vacation Spot!
This resort is almost perfect, lacking only in a couple of areas. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is absolutely outstanding in caring for your needs. The only two downsides are (1) microwaves are not included and (2) there is CONISDERABLE uphill walking (we counted 150 steps from our room to the grand lodge - - - all very uphill!

Beautiful, Clean Accomodations with nice location, and friendly staff
I had a very nice stay at this hotel. Everything was very clean, and in great shape. The rooms were very nice. Small, but updated and clean bathroom. Beds were comfortable and room was a nice size for two people to share. Balcony offered a beautiful view. Grounds were well kept and the staff was always polite, friendly, and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel for someone who has trouble getting around. There are no elevators in the buildings, and you have to take a long set of stairs to get to the pool/beach and some rooms. Food was limited - you could only get breakfast till 10:30, lunch from 12-3:30, and dinner beginning at 5. Only had lunch on site, which was good but not great, and somewhat pricey. The patio itself was nice for outdoor dining. Swimming in the on-site cave was a fun feature of this hotel. The beach/pool area was very small but we never had a problem getting a lounge chair. It was loud at times near the jacuzzi. There are bus stops conveniently located right outside the hotel, a recommended and affordable way to travel the island. Close to St. George, and about 40 minutes by bus to Hamilton. 5 minutes from the airport. I recommend it, but will personally try somewhere else on my next visit.

Great stay
OK, the rooms are old but the bed are confortable. Almost all rooms have an amazing ocean view. The hotel is 5 minutes from the aeroport $8 cab fare. The bus comes right in front of the hotel every 15minutes and that is great. The location was really good. Walking distance to a jungle area with paths and caves. walking distance to Swizzle in good basic food. Hamburg/pizza/nachos. The water is amazing everywhere. The hotel is in a little bay and there plenty of corals to go snorkling right from the beach. The food at the hotel was really good. There is a cave on site that you can go swimming in that is amazing. We would go back.
