Royal Caribbean Resort is a boutique, family owned resort hotel that has the feel of a small village. It is ideal for those who want comfort but still feel like they are on a tropical island in the Caribbean and not in Miami Beach. Royal Caribbean Resort is just over a mile south of town, far enough to enjoy the tranquility of the beach breezes and the resort's secluded private beach, yet close enough to easily visit the scores of bars and restaurants in the busy town of San Pedro.

Being outside of town, when laying beside Royal Caribbean Resort's luxurious pool, perhaps the largest on the entire island, you can enjoy the nighttime sky's thousands of stars. The resort's rich vegetation attracts a wide variety of unusual birds of all colors. Humming birds and butterflies flutter around the cabana's, attracted by the flowering shrubs. And Royal Caribbean Resort is the only place in Belize where you can pick and eat the exotic fruit called pitango. This cherry-sized, sweet-tart fruit grows throughout the village, ripe for the picking.

For assistance with local transport from the airport to the island, or special request contact the hotel direct at 501-226- 4220 or reservations@royalcaribbeanbelize.com.

quiet, quaint

[...] in the office is very helpful and a very nice person. This is a quiet hotel. Don't look for a lot of amenities here. The cabanas are kept very clean. Kitchen items include a microwave, toaster, refrigerator. There is only place settings for two, sparse silverware, etc. Bring a bottle opener if you plan on drinking beer. Beach towels are in your room. The hotel does rent bikes for a very reasonable rate. Hotel is out of town a little bit but it's a quick ride into town on a bike. The roads are paved with paving stones which makes it easy to ride. Pool is large and the Sand Bar is nice to have so close. Make sure you take a cat sail and snorkel Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley.

Dining tip: In Hotel

There's food at the Sand Bar which is on site, but do not hesitate to venture out, ride a bike, and have street vendor food. It's really good and reasonable. Beliken beer has a monopoly on the island but has several types. The rum is good, too.

Good value on Ambergris Caye

Perfect place to relax and recharge. Hotel staff are excellent, helpful and warm. There are no swimming beaches on the island, but the pool is great.

Good Value, a little out of the way

The hotel is a great get away from everything. Not having a in-room phone made us a little apprehensive. We went for two days fishing and the dock pick-up was super. Although you had to call a cab to get into town, the price was right $2.50 US-one way. Mosquitoes can be a problem. Make sure to bring snacks and beach towels.

Quiet, private but friendly

The hotel was a bit further from town than we expected, but we appreciated the quiet. Our cabin was near the water, and it was nice to fix breakfast ourselves. The staff was very helpful, and arranged all local tours for us and added the price to our bill upon check out. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were uncomfortable. A mosquito net would have been helpful as well. Overall, a great experience and we'd stay again.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you plan to do any excursions, most operators pick you up from the hotel dock so there is no need to spend the money on a golf cart rental. A cab to town is only $5 USD.

Great service even with Hurricane Dean on the horizon

The Royal Caribbean Resort - Although my trip was cut short by the impending hurricane the staff at the RCR couldn't have been more helpfull. Their first priority was my safety and comfort under the circumstances. I made some great friend in my short stay on Ambergris Caye and will be back to visit soon.

I hope you like to walk.

Royal Caribbean was a hike from town. We landed at the airstrip and judging from the maps that are available of San Pedro, the hotel was pretty close. We walked a ways on beaches with trash on them. We did rent bikes which was a great way to get around. An American group who stayed at the hotel when we were there rented a golf cart (from a rental company) and it was stolen and the rental company put $4000 on their American Express! We hypothesized that the rental company was stealing there own carts back and making $$$! That didn't help us to feel very safe. Ambergris in general is expensive. Pool was nice and rooms were clean. You cannot swim off the beach almost anywhere because there is so much seagrass.
