Nice views,friendly people, laid back
I loved our five nights at this place. It was not crowded at all when we were there, which made it quiet. This place was good for chatting with several guests, some who were there for extended long term stays. Met some interesting people each morning at coffee and afternoon at rum punch time. Sooo relaxing. The staff were really island friendly people too. I would return if I can convince somebody in my family to go again or maybe I will go alone.

Taxi is five dollars to town. Go to Dandees ice cream for the best in town. Walk is about 3/4 mile each way.The coconut frozen custard is wonderful!

Spent a week diving in Belize and loved it. Hotel has good clean rooms, a/c and the normal low water pressure. Nice pool, bar and the punch is great! Continental breakfast is pb&j's and fruit and juice. It's close enough to town and far enough at the same time. Went during the slow season so they had to hook me up outside their normal tour business and did so gladly and quickly. The thing that always separates good from bad is staff and these folks couldn't be better. Safe place to lock up my bike, good rum punch and fun bar staff. I'll probably just keep the key I forgot to return, since I'll be back as soon as possible.

pepperoni's delivers and is great. however; never eat at the same place twice...they're ALL good. I'm not a big fan of 'eating' but the only thing I found 'not so good' was some grilled street corn that was pretty dry.

Lovely
I really enjoyed my stay at Corona del Mar. The location is perfect...not too far from the center of town but still quiet and relaxing. The free breakfast is ok, but don't expect anything but toast, fruit, and coffee. Free rum punch during the day, nice! The staff is very friendly!

first time travelling abroad alone
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, hooked me up with snorkeling tours and directions to restaurants. Beach chairs and hammocks were great for relaxing outdoors. Had an oceanview room with a balcony that was perfect for me. Never did swim in the pool or off the dock, but still enjoyed plenty of water on my snorkel tours. George's kitchen across the street has good food and prices, and will make you things not listed on the menu if you ask. Had a great time on the manatee snorkeling tour, even had my best meal on the island with them. Shark ray tour was fun too, with Jayson making a sombrero out of a ray. Good times!

Good beachfront place to stay
Nothing fancy but hotel was very adequate. They have bikes you can rent for US$7.50/day - ride along the beach for miles! Breakfast is really basic: toast and melon/pineapple. You might get some juice if you're lucky. ;) It is about a mile south of downtown San Pedro area and is hot to walk during heat of day. But you can hitchhike and one of the many golf carts driving by will pick you up if you smile nicely.

Awesome location
The king size bed, beach area and location was great. For the price we were very happy to stay at this quiet hotel that had kind of an older feel. You can walk down to Ramon's Village for a great dinner (kind of expensive though) and that is also a great place to snorkel at the end of their dock. The fresh homemade salsa and banana chips from the vegetable stand down the street was memorable.

Decent place/Great Value
We stayed on Ambergis Caye for 4 days. Had booked at the last minute, and were able to get a room at the Corona Del Mar for a reasonable rate during the peak season (X-mas to New Year's week). The hotel is outdated, but room are clean and have everything you need. Beds are comfortable. There is a coffee maker, microwave, and fridge in each room as well. Also TV and Cable with all English channels. Free internet on the computers in the lobby. (No wi-fi in room). Located on the beach, with nice lounge chairs and hammocks, and covered cabana areas. All of the staff are beyond nice, friendly, and helpful. They really go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable during your stay. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk to the main part of town (you can walk on the beach or on a sidewalk) -OR- a 3-5 minute taxi ride. There are also some decent local restaurants right outside the hotel. They offer a complimentary basic breakfast of toast/PB +J/butter/jam, and coffee and fruit. There are definitely newer, more luxurious places to stay on Ambergis, but they will cost a lot more. This is defintely worth the value, especially based on location, amenities, and staff. They have recently acquired the hotel next door and are expanding. The rooms at the next door place are currently more outdated (but still clean), so if you can, try to get a room on the original Corona del Mar side. If you are looking to stay at a fancy 4-5 star resort, where you just stay/eat at the resort only, then this place is not for you. But all others will be happy with the stay and value.

Not what it looked like in the pictures
I arrived at Corona Del Mar a lone, female traveller. The staff was friendly and helpful, my room was clean, had everything i needed and hot water. The common area was under construction. There was no bar or restaurant operational there as it was under construction in a big way. It was a bit of a walk to town and good restaurants, although you could walk along the beach and find some beach front restaurants. The hotel was on the beach and my room was comfortable.

Some good little restaurants on the beachfront and some in town, unfortunately can't recall the names. Everything is within walking distance and great place to get some great seafood.

Very Friendly
The Coconuts Carribean Hotel was perfect for me as a single adult. It wasn't posh, but certainly fulfilled my travel needs. My room was supplied with a small refrigerator, an unopened gallon of bottled water, a table and chair, cable TV, coffee pot, hair dryer clock radio, and a microwave. Tucked away in the closet was a roll-away bed if needed. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a very friendly desk manager (whom I have emailed personally and thanked) who took care of me as if I had been there on many previous stays (this was my first visit). After I was settled in, he took the time to introduce me to the owner. Additionally, he was very knowledgable and helpful in assisting me in my vacation jaunts. The hotel was also able to provide me with extra cash against my VISA card for a nominal 3% fee. The location was within easy and safe walking distance (evenings also) just south of downtown San Pedro. I'll stay again.

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
A grocery store, Super Buy, is much cheaper for snacks, drinks, etc. than buying at the small stores you encounter while walking through town. Directly to the left of the store is a small local diner called Shelly's...good, clean, cheap, local cooking.
