Ok for the price

Staff was great. The hotel pays for the transfer to/from the airport. We were on the first floor. All rooms surround the interior pool. The room is split into three parts: living/dining/kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. The A/C unit is in the bedroom area and doesn't cool off the entire space. The beds were hard as rocks. You could feel each and every spring and it made horrible noises anytime one of us moved. The bathroom had a horrible odor that never went away after three days. It also had a huge ant problem. The pool was pretty cold and the hot tub was just as cold as the pool. It is on the beach but the south end of the island. There is a fantastic bakery right up the road. The food at the restaurant is overpriced like most resorts. Search around for the best golf cart deals. You will find some for far less outside of the hotel. Apparently breakfast was supposed to be included in our reservation but we never received the coupons and the front desk wouldn't honor it which is why we found the bakery up the road. Its a great hotel if you want to do nothing. There is not much near it so just be prepared.

Great spot. Great Value.

Perfect spot about 1 mile away from town. Easy to reach and easy to escape. Staff incredibly friendly & accommodating. Rooms spotless. Daily maid service crisp & efficient. My only gripe was the limited wifi. At first I thought this might be an island issue but had better success in town at several coffee shops. And the hotel had a good desktop for guests. Great trip. Thanks again.

Belize trip

I stayed at the Banana Beach with My girlfriend for 8 days. The hotel was great. Monkey Business works with the hotel and has everything listed that you need. (golf cart rental, scenic tours, snorkeling, and deep sea fishing to name a few). The hotel is south of San Pedro and away from the busy stuff. It was about 5 minutes by golf cart to go into town. You don't have a lot of people on the beach walking bye do to their location. I felt it was in the perfect spot. The restaurant in the hotel seemed a little pricey and we only went there twice. The beach is sand with a seawall . You can go and swim and snorkel from it but the picture is a little misleading. The staff was very friendly to us at all times. The only issue we had was the hot water in the shower was only room temperature. Due to the location/price/ and having monkey business there it was a great spot. who needs hot showers anyway with the beautiful weather and climate.

Just what we needed

The hotel was at the southern end of the busy part of town making it a little quieter which was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room pleasant, lots of plants - overall a very nice place, not overly done. There is no beach (small beaches next door) but plenty of lounge chairs by the water. It's a short walk to a great little food stand, Robins, and a longer walk into the main part of town along the road or by beach.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

We looked around at Maya ruins day trips and found: Monkey Buisness' (at the hotel) prices for Lamanai were the same as most places in town. There were trips to Altun Ha and a Spa that were cheaper at other locations.

Small and personal

Enjoyed our stay at Banana Beach. Front Desk staff very welcoming. Had a courtyard suite which was more than adequate. 2pools were not used very much but a great amenity. Beach front is an added bonus. Kitchen in the room are not equipped for making meals but sufficient for breakfast and snack.....which is all you really need with such great restaurants. Ceviche in Banana Beach restaurant is "the Best". Building shows some wear but a fair trade off for the price paid.

Take It All In When Traveling To Belize

The hotel staff was SUPERB, could not ask for nicer customer service! Marlon was an INCREDIBLE Bartender who ALWAYS had a charming smile on his face!! The plants & flowers surrounding the property and pool make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The 2 pools were Perfect and lovely to swim in. Overall, the hotel is REALLY CLEAN, Room was HUGE with a Kitchen, eat in dining room, Living room, double doors overlooking pool, small balcony in bedroom overlooking tropical courtyard. Can't say enough about the FRIENDLY staff!! The hotel is small so making friends quickly is easy :) Take In Stride when staying at this hotel: * No hot water in shower. I know San Pedro is a barrier island - I have been there many times before but have always been able to take a hot shower- not the case for Room B223 *Bed was hard and uncomfortable * Continually had to ask for face cloth and hand towels - should have been readily supplied with the 2 towels left in the room daily * The beach was not raked and quite dirty at times. *The plastic beach chaises were dirty and often fell apart if you tried to adjust *Location was on South end of town. Getting a taxi was often delayed and difficult to obtain If you are looking for value, economy, huge CLEAN room, walking distance from town 10-15 min and the BEST Bartender then I would recommend this resort!!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

When in San Pedro - get out of the hotel and WALK down the streets. You will meet the MOST AMAZING, FRIENDLIEST & SMILING people. Belize is an EXTRAORDINARY country - EXPLORE it; Talk to the locals and Eat where the locals eat. If you do all this - you will come back time & time again to this MAGICAL, MYSTICAL & BEAUTIFUL country. My Favs: Nightime Crocodile Adventure with ACES Belize; Lamanai Ruins; Zipling; Cave Tubing; Snorkeling the Barrier Reef; Dining at Blue Water Grill; Carrambas; Estelles and most importantly - Shop Local Artisans - you will see them everywhere -sitting on curbs carving, beading & painting - don't haggle just pay what they ask - the artistry is always unique and never over priced. And Lastly, go see Lalita at Tropical Massage - she's on the beach in the bamboo hut and sooo worth the walk into town! After her Swedish Massage you wont care about hard beds and tepid showers!

Great vacation.

Had a great experience in San Pedro. The hotel staff was very nice and quick to accommodate your needs. The best snorkelling we have ever done! There are lots of activities and also a great place to just lay back and relax. No fighting crowds of people! If we were to go again, we would stay closer to town as we were about a mile out of town so it was a bit of a walk back and forth. It would be great if the hotel had a shuttle bus to go back and forth into town. Taxis and golf carts are readily available though. The local people are very friendly. Thank you Belize!

Much better than prior ratings!

Good service overall! Friendly check in and advice about resort and surrounding area. Great service in the bar and restaurant (when large groups didn't take up their time) and some of the coldest ICE cold Belikin beer ever. Restaurant had very good burgers (look at their size), fish & chips, salads, salsa, etc. Nice pool and beach overlook with palms and their breezeway caught all those nice breezes with total shade (great for those of fair skin!). This place had parking available across the street for those necesary golf carts used to get around the island (what a blast!), most other places were really crammed if at all available. Room was more than adequate with ceiling fans, A/C, and a kitchen. Great overlook of the courtyard pool. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
