The hotel is right in the old
The hotel is right in the old centre of Mechelen; so old centre on easy walking distance. Hotel location very quiet. Modern hotel and pleasent; type of design hotel. You feel comfortable; staff friendly; breakfast very good. Wireles per hour; public parking underneath hotel; per hour or 16 E per day. Price in relation to what you get. I recommend this hotel without doubt.

Novotel is like those chicks who
Novotel is like those chicks who look very nice from a distance, but when you come up close you see they're a bit worn out. Front-desk people are friendly, but impersonal and the hotel is usually fully booked, often with large groups of tourists. I have stayed there around 30 nights over the last 12 months and haven't gotten a single upgrade. The rooms are ok, but the carpets are often filthy. To me personally, the most annoying feature of this hotel is the extensive use of perfume; bath rooms, and sometimes guest rooms, reek from it at times. I once asked for a room that wasn't perfumed, but was told that wasn't possible... Breakfast is excellent though :)
