Good place to explore Flanders from
The hotel is centrally located in town of Ypres (now spelled Iepres). A couple of blocks takes you to the Menin Gate, where at 8PM every night, the local fire department conducts a small ceremony honoring the tens of thousands of British WWI dead, many of whose bodies were never found and whose names are inscribed at the Gate. The hotel assigned us a room whose electrical system had failed, but promptly took care of it, and provided a free drink in the bar as recompense. From Iepres/Ypres, you can see many of the famous battlefields where armies struggled from 1914-1918. The Novotel is a good starting point.

Gasthof t'Zweerd's hotel restaurant offers EXCELLENT food that is also inexpensive. My wife and I ordered the Flemish stew, and were absolutely stuffed, as it first came with a lovely chicken-and-pork soup, followed by a huge portion of excellent chicken in a cream and paprika sauce.

Good hotel in quiet position near the centre of Ieper - the Grand Place and the Menim Gate. It had underground parking at 11 Euros per day, which for the centre of a city was reasonable. Breakfast had a reasonable variety. Nice courtyard in the centre of the hotel adjacent to bar and restaurant. Excellent for a short stay in Ieper to visit the WW1 Battlefields, etc.

This hotel is excellent and well
This hotel is excellent and well placed in relation to the Menin Gate.They provided parking for our vehicle as well. Breakfast each day was excellent. Staff were very helpful at all times. I would have no hesitation in staying there again and would certainly recommend it to other visitors to Flanders.

Nice location, close to the centre
Nice location, close to the centre of the city. Good parking facility (at cost). We had a room with bathroom and separate toilet which is very convenient.
