Don't think I'd go back

Other reviewers have said this hotel is in downtown Brussels and I didn't realise just what that meant until I got there. It's easy to find if you come out the right side of the station but not if you come out on the Pullman Hotel side, which is where we came from as we transferred from Pullman to Novotel as part of our booking arrangements. Novotel is in a horrible area and I can understand why others felt unsafe. I was with my (large# partner so felt more or less safe, although held on to my bag tightly. Wouldn't venture out on my own after dark though. Hotel itself v. nice. Room good size but bed and pillows uncomfortable according to my taste - we never got a good night's sleep even though there was little outside noise. Breakfast was a disgrace. Got down first morning at 8 am #breakfast ends at 10 am) and only hot food left was eggs and beans, no brown bread, only a few slices of old white. 2nd morning, only beans left and 3rd morning no beans. I managed to get some more made of some things when I complained, but I found the whole dining experience quite stressful and unpleasant. As a result we didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings so had to go out. The choice otherwise was good but having paid £105 for B & B I felt we were entitled to rather better service. Management need to sort this out. Other than that, keep your wits about you on the Metro as this area a bit dodgy and some very suspicious characters on the trains + homeless people begging and sleeping on station.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

A short but dodgy Metro ride for 4 Euros each, return, will take you into Brussels centre e.g around the Bourse area where there are lots of restaurants, especially Thai, Chinese and Indian, some Italian too.

Perfect for a quick one night stay!

We were travelling from London to Amsterdam by train and decided to hang out a day in Brussels just to check it out. This hotel is perfectly situated close to the train station. The hotel room was immaculate, quite large, and modern. The staff was helpful and allowed us to stay an extra hour to make it more convenient for us given our train schedule. The area around the train station isn't the best but we didn't find it dangerous. Brussels was ok. I don't think you need to stay longer than a day. Seeing the Grand Place made it worth it. It really is spectacular. There was a very large market near the hotel on Sunday which would be nice to get fruit and vegetables if I lived there but the rest of the items being sold (clothes, household things, etc) are not high quality items so going was not worth it.

Perfect for a short stop over

This is not the part of town I'd stay in if visiting Brussels but it was fine for a short stop over before catching a flight out the next morning. Lack of free Wifi was disappointing for a place like this and the 15 euros charged for breakfast seemed quite over the top and it was not at all clear that there was such a cost up front.

great place

right across the street from midi station with a great food options nearby and a grocery store as well. if they're closed you can also just easily walk into the train station where there's a ton of stuff easily available. there can be a lot of homeless folks in the area but they're harmless so no worries there. a very comfortable room with super professional and helpful staff

Great hotel, especially if you are traveling through Brussels-Midi train station.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was great. Hotel is on a busy road right across from train station but even with my room on the 1st floor i never really heard the trains or the buses or the street traffic due to the thick windows. Good beds, too Definitely recommend it to anyone.

Excellent Hotel Across From Gare du Midi

This pristine hotel is located a three minute walk from Gare du Midi. The neighborhood appeared very seedy but never seemed at all dangerous. The front desk personnel were very helpful. The room was modern and spotless and had good air conditioning.
