The Marivaux is located in the business centre of Brussels, in a neighborhood rich of architectural heritage in the heart of the historical city at walking distance of the Grand Place. The Boulevard Adolphe Max was built at the end of the 19th century when the city centre was modernized and the course of the Senne River was changed. Since that time the river flows underneath the Boulevard Adolphe Max. This latter used to connect the city centre with the Gare du Nord, which was Belgiums most important railway station at the time. The hotel has no smoking policy.

Great place to stay in Brussels

We stayed here for a quick 1-day visit en route from Bruges to the Brussels airport. The hotel provided a great base for a quick exploration of Brussels; it was an easy walk from the Nord train station and to the Grand Place. We also found a lovely neighborhood not far away around the historic fish market that was full of good restaurants. The room was large by European standards and very comfortable. Breakfast was not included and seemed expensive at 17.50 euro's per person, so we skipped that.

Very clean, great room & location, book it!

Don't be turned off that this is described more as a business hotel -- my husband & I stayed here as tourists and had a great experience. Plus, I think as a hotel that more businessmen stay in works to its advantage in terms of the standards and cleanliness. The location is good -- a straight shot about half a mile from Noord station and half a mile the other direction to the awesome city center shopping/eating/sightseeing area. The hotel was very clean, and our room was clean except for the toilet (but I honestly think this was accidentally forgotten, just some wee splashes, so nothing horrible). The room decor and furniture and finishes were superb! The hotel has a modern lobby area, but the rooms have a more cozy feel with with the decor and wood furniture & doors. The restaurant had excellent food, we ate dinner there one night, but did not try the breakfast (it was very expensive, like 19 euros pp I think). Plus it's close to so many other places to eat, easy to try less expensive local food. The staff was above average, polite and helpful. I do recommend getting a better city map than the one the front desk gives you, though. I saw other tourists with this great mass produced map, wish this hotel would supply that one to the guests! Overall, the best stay I've had in travels to Europe, and we got our room for under a hundred dollars a night -- can't beat that!

Decent stay

Beautiful, modern common areas. Acceptable European-standard room. Free wifi made a huge difference, though it did tend to cut out at midnight or so. Just a short walk both from Gare du Nord train station and from the tourist attractions at the center of town. As a solo female, never had a problem with the neighborhood, even late at night, despite the adult businesses nearby. Included or less expensive breakfast might have been nice.

This hotel had a good location and large rooms for being in the city center of Brussels. It was easy to get around Brussels on the metro. Get the 2 or 3 day pass!

Good all over. View out the back isn't great but who cares. 10 min walk from La Grand' Place. I liked the deco of the large reception area.

A La Mort Subite: lovely old pub that does good limited pubfood very close to La Grand' Place. We shared salami, cheese and gerkins, followed by lardon salad and musroom omelette, with Belgian beer. I was very happy.
