Hotel Windsor

I would urge anyone travelling to Brussels NOT to stay in this hotel. I usually travel on a budget so don't expect luxury, but for £70 a night (even in Brussels) this hotel was by far the worst I have ever experienced. And I mean bad. Firstly, the smell in the room stayed with me for at least 2 days afterwards. A combination of dampness, stale cigarette smoke, and a general lack of cleanliness was horrible and almost undescribable. Although I booked a no-smoking room, cigarettes had been stubbed out in the soap dish, and when I questioned the receptionist about whether I had booked a non smoking room he thought I wanted to smoke in there and suggested it would be fine as long as I smoked out the window otherwise it would set off the smoke alarms! As for the cleanliness of the room - I had to open the bathroom door with my feet to avoid touching the door handle, and the flap of the toilet roll holder was equally dirty. The bed had hairs in it, as did the soap dish / ashtray. The holder for the shower head was broken, the shower itself needed a serious clean and there was dust on all the ledges of the room. However, by far the most disgusting was the telephone in the room which had grime embedded in every crevice. Getting to sleep knowing you are in this kind of envionrment was a new challenge for me! The only saving grace for the hotel was the location as it was just a short walk to the main sights. Oh and the reception staff were friendly and the reception area leant itself to a nice looking hotel. However, Brussels is such a small city (in comparison to London say) that location is not a good enough reason to stay at the hotel. As Brussels is expensive, I would strongly advise anyone to pay the extra £20 per night to stay somewhere else or just simply avoid this place.

The night receptionist (guy) doesnt speak English but he is very corteous and extremely helpful. The place's location is awesome, only a few blocks away from Grand Place and Central Station. The hotel itself though is very old, the elevator is very small and scary but the bedroom and bathroom are large for European standards. The breakfast is just bread, oj, corn flakes, milk and coffee. I recommend this place for the location which is fabulous for this price.

Suggest only booking the very cheap 5th floor single if you intend to come in, sleep and go out again: if you want a chair/table-desk to check your emails etc it lacks these facilities. I will pay a bit more for these next time! BTW it is a slog to carry a case from 4th where the lift stops to 5th floor.

Very reasonable pricing. The room is just a bed and it is very tiny. Very basic.

Good value for money. Very central location close to De Brouckere / Bourse and walking to all central Brussels (but attention when returning late) and free wifi available. Rooms are very basic but clean.

clean simple hotel, great staff perfect location

This was a great place, close to everything, staff very nice even one gentleman who didn't speak english at all, he tried hard and was very nice. Elevator/lift is small but it's fine, breakfast is great for the money, cereal, cofee, milk, fruits, bread (jelly, butter), milk, etc. Overall I'll definitelly stay there again.

The taxi driver first dropped me at the ROYAL Windsor Hotel, a four or five star hotel - make sure you go to the right place! The Windsor itself was o.k. for one or two nights, reasonably clean (I stayed in a room at the top floor which seems to be new), but the furniture etc. is extremely basic - second or third hand IKEA style stuff. Breakfast is cheap but you get what you pay for. O.k. if you just want a coffee and a croissant. Location is o.k., depends where you have to go in the morning - it's two tram stops from De Brouckere.

The hotel has very good transport connection and it is close to the center. The room was clean. The value-cost ratio was good.
