scary hotel - Des Colonies Hotel Brussels (No Star)
i would not recommend this hotel! this hotel need to be demolished! the location is okay, but the hotel is not; lobby and corridors are scary and dingy, antiquated elevator, room smell cigarette, the decor is so pathetic and the bathroom and fixtures are dismal failure. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!!

Solo Backpacking
For a backpacking location to stay, this place is pretty decent and has a reasonable price. Location is very good as its 10 mins away from the Grand Place or city center and right next to the shopping area.

We found the location to be good; buffet breakfast was good. The room we had was adequate but the whole hotel could do with an upgrade.

Great location and you get what you pay for
I got off the train at the Brussels North station and walked two blocks toward the center of town and there was the Hotel. Excellent access to transportation and the Gross Markt and the old downtowm. The room was OK, shower and bathroom tiny, but you don't live in the bathroom. The breakfast was reasonable, but not elegant. But, for its cost I think this was a good value. I will consider staying here when I am next on business travel again.

The Hotel has an excellent location,
The Hotel has an excellent location, large, quiet rooms. Unfortunately very few of the rooms have a bath, the rest have a shower cubicle. Breakfast is quite good. The only aspect that I don't like about the hotel is the long, badly lighted and dull entrance hall with the reception desk to the side hidden between big columns.

Charming, comfortable and convenient
The hotel was charming and very comfortable. The staff was very accomodating and helpful. We were there for our son's wedding. The location was very convenient to the subway and train and shopping. The only thing I missed was having a hair dryer.

Hotel is easy to find from Brussels
Hotel is easy to find from Brussels Nord station--direct from the airport.It is near the Metro and is 15 mins.walk to the Gran Plas. The room was spacious and very quiet at night--we stayes 6 nights and it was easy to visit all the other cities by train.Breakfast was very good too.The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a little tired looking but it has a timeless grandour too which compensates.
