Disappointing and reception staff awful
The hotel is well located for those who need to attend meetings at the EU institutions, and close to the Grand Place (although not on the fancy side of the Grand Place). However, the staff at the reception desk was just awful. With my work, I travel abroad very often, and always stay in hotels, from cheap to expensive. It was, here, the first time I met such awful behaviour. For instance: I was vehemently criticized by the reception desk because I made the taxi driver wait (the driver of the taxi I booked. Yes, I made him wait 5 minutes. But I should not have been criticed like that by the hotel reception). I was also criticized by the reception of the hotel for minor things, and always in a nasty, very nasty manner. A complete shame. The day when I left (Sunday 5 February), I told the reception desk that I had been surprised with this behaviour. His answer was that it was MY behaviour that was not acceptable... and he made the following comment: "But we are used to with French customers". I will definitely not go back to this hotel till I receive apologize from the management.

Terrific location for exploration
At the end of a 3 week motoring trip, we had a day and a half available before our flight home from Brussels. We were looking for a location that would maximize our time to explore Brussels, drop off our rental car at the airport beforehand and returrn to catch our flight on our last day. Centrale Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way; its location was perfect, a two minute walk to Central Station which has frequent express trains to the airport and a few blocks from Grand Place and surrounding attractions. The room was modern, clean, and comfortable, and the staff was exceedingly helpful and accomodating.

Great Location, Friendly Stafff
We stayed for a week at the Centrale Hotel while vacationing and meeting some distant family members for the first time. With quick access to the train station, metro and the Grand Pace, we couldn't have done much better. Staff were very friendly and facilities, while not quite 4 star, were comfortable. Highly recommended.

We found that Brussels was very walkable, much more so than maps would leave you to believe. We had no problems getting trains to Ghent and Brouge - several an hour and on time.

Meh +
Pros: -location -wireless -some of the staff Cons: -some of the staff -having to use hand soap in the shower/no shampoo one day -hot rooms This place was just OK. I probably would not stay here again, as I could stay a few minutes away for cheaper in the future. Like I said, some of the staff were really great, and one staff member was just downright unhelpful and unaccommodating. That being said, it is a 30 second walk to Central Station, which made it easy to get to the airport/everywhere else.

A nice place, close to the action
The price was good, and this was one of the nice places that we stayed on the trip that we took. It might not be a four star hotel, but it is still a great deal. Close to the metro stop, and walking distance to many points of interest make it a great location for seeing the city.

3 days traveling around Belgium by Rail. Sat. was spent on a Mercia Travel Tour by Train around Antwerp Docks Complex-on to Gent then St Ghyslain and Mons, taking in 2 freight only branches before heading back to Brussels. Better value and Hotel standard than our last Hotel which was booked by Eurostar.

"Good Location"
I'm currently studying abroad in Spain and was visiting Brussels for a weekend trip. I was traveling by train to Bruges and Amsterdam so I needed a hotel close to the train station. I was very pleased with the location of the hotel! My friend and I practically ran into our hotel once coming out of the train station. We also found it to be very close to the Grand Place square. I showed up without even a map of Brussels so my friend and I relied a lot on the concierge. They ended up being extremely helpful with everything! I'm not sure I would call it a 4 star hotel, but it was perfect for what we were looking for. The rooms were a lot bigger than I had thought. You have a sitting area/couch and a huge window. The bathrooms have double sinks. The shower was awkward, and also there was a leak in our bathroom that they didn't fix while we were staying even though we alerted them about it. Also, the hairdryer was broken.
