Hotel is nice. Made a little mistake when placed reservation for one person. Did not pay attention to it. After checking out was asked to pay for second persons breakfast and city tax. City is nice. Time well spent.

Not a welcoming hotel

Would not recommend Mon, Oct 12, 2015
My mom and I arrived at the hotel at noon after a 7-hour flight from the U.S. Jetlagged, we hoped to access our room at the earliest opportunity. The young lady at the desk did not seem to like her job. She was not friendly at all! She informed us that the room would not be ready for three hours and to go sightsee until 3:00 p.m. My mom was too tired. The hotel seemed empty. the bar and cafe were closed. We sat in the bar area for three hours. (While we sat there other hotel employees were having a meeting with a vendor. No one of the three hotel employees even acknowledged us. A housekeeper did greet us and told us that coffee was available if we were interested.) At the stroke of 3:00 p.m. evidently all the rooms became magically available. This hotel would not let us check in a minute before 3:00 p.m. even though the front desk lady knew we were waiting for a room. First time we've had that experience when arriving in Europe. The room we were assigned faced a school (a lot of noise), and something was under construction on that side of the building. Evidently prior guests took out their frustration on the closet doors, because they were completely off their tracks. We called for assistance. It took awhile, because the damage was significant. When we asked why there was no air-conditioning, we were told that the season had changed to cooler. There was no air-conditioning in Belgian hotels this time of year. The room was very hot and uncomfortable at night even with the window and curtains opened. To be fair, the gentleman who checked us out of our room was kind and efficient. Too bad he wasn’t available when we checked in. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone else who wants a professional welcome and well-appointed room. If one could minus out the hotel, our stay in Brugge was terrific. Generally people are friendly and kind.

enjoyable weekend with friends

Would recommend Mon, Mar 9, 2015
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Golden Tulip Hotel although had a little difficulty parking which is a nightmare in Bruges. Parking in Hotel car park is charged at 15 euros/night - not excessive but at most hotels I've stayed at parking for guests is free. Location good - only approx. 10 mins walk to centre of town. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast excellent.

Delightful "home away from home"

Would recommend Mon, Sep 28, 2009
The hotel has an inner courtyard with visiting doves and coy Koi, a lovely spot in which to begin and end the day. The breakfast offerings were outstanding and delicious. The location, only 5 minutes from the center of Amsterdam, offered the opportunity to head for lively people interaction, then to return for quiet canalside strolling and daily sighting of swans gliding atop the waterway.

Attractions

The 13th century Belfort in the MArkt square is worth the 366-step climb to the top to view the bells and the city itself. Also, don't miss the three windmills on the east bank to the left of the Kruisport, the only portion of the wall, which encircled the medieval Bruges, that now remains.
