3 Star hotel that lives up to its rating

Would recommend Wed, Dec 2, 2015
The Floris Hotel Karos is a budget hotel that has aspirations. On first sight the reception and bar area are very nice indeed. Inviting, warm, comfortable, and modern. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always smiling and welcoming. And you get a weather report for the following day slid under your door each night which is a great touch. There is a pool, small but inviting, and a gym, should the desire to use either be on your agenda. There's a children's area equipped with a games console, large screen tv, DVDs, and a selection of toys for various ages. The restaurant - which is used for breakfast only - is fine. Clean, and with very helpful and attentive staff once again. Unfortunately the room we were in (132) is directly above the pool and so has the all pervading odour of chlorine. It looks directly onto an imitation grass roof which joins the main hotel to its annex and means you cannot leave the window open for security's sake. And the rooms get very warm at night. The bathroom is in serious need of attention as the shower is a dribble and the shower curtain doesn't even fit the width of the bath. The towels are small and worn, the toilet is so close to the wall as to require you to sit at an angle ( try it at home), and the bath is very narrow. The decor is in need of work in both the room and the adjoining hallways with some of the wall corners having holes in the wallpaper. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard each day though with the staff doing as well as can be expected with what they have to work with. There are no tea and/or coffee facilities in the rooms requiring you to go to the bar to order them. And they ran out of tea!! Having said all of that our stay was actually enjoyable and good value for money. I've certainly stayed in worse places in the UK . Recommended if you're on a budget.

Did not stay here in the end

Would not recommend Mon, Mar 9, 2015
We had booked in in December but when we got there we were told they had no hot water. As we were staying for 4 nights and it was going to be off for up to 5 they transferred us to another hotel

Great location off the square

Would recommend Mon, Dec 29, 2014
The hotel is in an excellent location just a block off the square. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby doubled as a bar for relaxing after a day walking through the town. The room was fabulous! 4 in our party and we had a spacious loft.

Would recommend Thu, Sep 4, 2014
Only stayed here for 1 night whilst travelling around Belgium but it was excellent Got a free upgrade to The Royal Suite. Location was excellent, 5 minute walk to main area and 15/20 minute walk to bus station. Breakfast was also very good.

Great hotel

Would recommend Tue, May 13, 2014
My husband and I spent one night at Floris hotel in Bruges and we loved it. It is walking distance to main attractions. We got a room upgrade which was great, the room was spacious, modern and lovely decorated. Actually, The whole hotel is very well decorated. The staff were useful and the breakfast was good, although limited for hot food (egg and bacon). I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again.

Convenient location

Great location, comfortable and clean and friendly, only downsides were pretty useless internet and we were right above the pool, not noisy but incredibly hot and humid in that part of the hotel

Floris Hotel

Would recommend Wed, May 15, 2013
The Floris was a great location close to all the tourist places and restaurants. The breakfast was very good and the room was ok. There was an indoor swimming pool and exercise room. One lady at the desk was not friendly at all and the check in was 3 PM and there was not a room ready until then. All of a sudden at 3 there were plenty of rooms ready. We had to wait in the lobby 2 1/2 hours until 3 PM.

Attractions

Go to the market square, beautiful and plenty of food and shopping.

Nice Place to Visit

Would recommend Sat, May 12, 2012
Nice hotel with an unusual bathroom setup: if you sit on the toilet, your legs are under (the side) of the washbasin. Not entirely uncomfortable, but odd. Convenient location, good breakfast, but do not plan on parking at the hotel. They advertise parking, but they told us that they had only eight spaces and all were full. (Parking is available about two blocks away for 8.70 Euros per day.) It was an overall pleasant experience and a good value; I would recommend this hotel for the low-budget traveler (although not the hostel/backpacker type).
