The hotel was okay. The food catered to the UK Clientele as to the breakfast. I would have liked a Caribbean breakfast. Food was brought for met to try. GREAT. There was mould on the curtians and a mouldy smell in the pillows. The hotel will
undergo renovation in Oct. The upscale mall was across the street a bit. Opens at 10am. The bus stop was near by. East to get around. The staff was very good an helpful. No internet in the rooms. WiFI around the pool area and in the lobby. Request a room away from the pool area on a higher floor if noise bothers you. 30 min from airport.
Just had a great stay at Mango Bay hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the welcoming staff. No issues were made because of early arrival , as we were directed to the restaurant to grab breakfast while issues with the check in were being sorted
out. Food was satisfactory but the hotel staff was excellent. They were quick to respond to issues with the air condition settings. They gave my wife and myself a really nice surprise at our room for our anniversary which was really appreciated. I would stay there again.
This was fantastic value for money, but the hotel is looking tired.
Having to book in for lunch and dinner was a bit tiresome as when you're on holiday you don't always know at what time you want to eat, the whole point of us having a holiday is
to get out of the regimented rut and being able to come and go as we please.
The work that the government are doing on the beaches is directly in front of and next to the hotel, which was a massive shock not only because of the endless noise of the diggers (7:30 till 4 o'clock everyday including weekends) but also the way it looked if you want an idyllic beach holiday or if you think of Barbados and think of paradise do not stay at Mango Bay while these works are taking place.
Because of the receding beach there is basically no where else to sit apart from round the pool which is a limited space so by mid morning all the beds had been reserved.
Having said all of this the room that we stayed in was one of the best we have ever had as far as its location in the hotel - ground floor with direct access into the pool.
My advice would be to check with the hotel to see if the works to the groins that are being put into the sea to help with the beach erosion is complete before you stay here. If it is then its great value for money and the staff are lovely making it an affordable and comfortable hotel in a great location on the west coast. If the works still going on be warned!
It was okay. The beach is being worked on so technically there isn't a beach to go to. You have to be shuttled to another beach. Not a big deal, but i wish we were told that when we made the reservation.
The staff at this hotel were great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a room with a pool view but it was still very private! The meals were good. And the service was excellent. The only problem we had was the air conditioning, my husband
never seemed to get it quite cold enough for him but for me it was fine. The view on the beach is nice and the resort is within walking distance to shopping, God's Acre" and the Sunday night karaoke party at One Love Bar (which is a must to check out.) . Mango bay also has plenty to do in the resort too. The catamaran Cruise to swim with the turtles was awesome and it is included!! where most other resorts it is an additional cost. All around I would say we had a great time. And will be back.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Hiring a taxi to take you around the island is a great way to see it all. Not only will they take you to the places you want to see but they will show you stuff like it that you will be interested in that the bussed tours do not show you.
