Serene Barbados resort retains the social cachet of a colonial-era club
The Colony Club by Elegant Hotels earned a AAA 4 diamond award for attentive, personalized service, refined spaces, elegant decor and hard-to-beat gardens. Once a private colonial-era club, the resort offers top-notch dining, poolside activities and heavenly beaches. Poolside rooms offer private pool access to a meandering pool with the feel of a tropical lagoon. Bridgetown is a short ride from the Colony Club by Elegant Hotels. Guest also visit the resort's west coast sister properties via water taxi (weather permitting).

Rooms
Timeless sophistication is key at the Colony Club by Elegant Hotels. Expect up-to-date details like sunburst mirrors, clean lines and Mission-inspired furniture, along with modern conveniences like flat-panel TV, mini refrigerator, Wi-Fi access (fees apply), air conditioning, clock radio, tea/coffee maker,  iron/ironing board, safe deposit box and iPod docking station. The resort offers six room categories that range from ocean view to one-bedroom suites. All 96 accommodations are non-smoking and include a private balcony or patio, stocked mini bar, and spacious marble bathroom with bathrobe, bathtub, shower and hairdryer. Nightly turn down with service and 24-hour room service (limited menu from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) are available.
Features
Complimentary water sports at the Colony Club by Elegant Hotels include snorkeling, sailing, boogie boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, water skiing and stand-up paddling. A fitness center, two floodlit tennis courts and beauty salon offering spa services are also available. Manager's cocktail party happens every week. A wedding coordinator and hotel shops are also available for added convenience.
Dining
The Laguna Restaurant is the showpiece of the Colony Club by Elegant Hotels dining experience, with vaulted ceilings, white wood beams, decorative archways and tropical plants. Several theme dinners are held each week, with the individual themes varying by season.
 
The Sunset Bar and Deck provides an outdoor dining experience and features a swim-up bar. Theme nights at this venue include Lobster and Jazz, Bajan Fish Grill and Seaside Grill. In addition to numerous lobster selections at Lobster and Jazz, guests choose from pan-seared red snapper, Caribbean curry chicken and several other dinner entrees.

The Planters Bar offers canapes and aperitif in a relaxed setting.

The Sunset Bar & Deck
Serves tropical concoctions, refreshing cocktails and light casual fare with a daily Happy Hour from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. This bar is located onthe pool/beach deck and is also a swim-up bar. Weather permitting, guests can enjoy lunch on the deck as well as theme dinners such as the weekly Lobster & Jazz and Seaside Grill.

Excellent hotel and staff

Check in was a very relaxed event, with a rum punch. We had a up-graded pool room, which was in a excellent location within the beautiful tropical gardens. Access to the beach straight from hotel grounds. The only thing we didn't like were hotel guests saving sun loungers on the beach and around the pool with towels, then, not using them for most of the day! Swimming in the Caribbean Sea was a safe and enjoyable experience, the hotel had an area roped off from the complimentary water sports area. Green Headed Monkeys, visit the hotel gardens in the late afternoon and play around in the trees situated at the rear of our room. All staff at the hotel were warm, friendly and genuinley interested in making your holiday experience a memorable one. We booked a trip on a boat to snorkell with turtles, it was one of the best things we did, Jason who skippered the boat was informative and made us feel special. We ate out most evenings in Holetown. we also found a chattel called Groots close to the hotel that did a very good Roti (West Indian dish of meat or fish and potato in a wrap). We took a trip around the island on the local buses for the equivilent of £3.00 pp. Bathsheba, on the East coast is well worth a visit, as it so different to the West. Barbados is a beautiful island with friendly people and we would return again.

We found using public transport, both fun, exciting and in-expensive. They run a very regular service on the West coast. The Blue buses are run by the Government. Yellow ones are privately run and locally know as the Reggae bus, as they play non stop Reggae. They both cost 2 BD per person per journey.

Nice place

Very nice hotel, service was friendly. Advanced warning - in the off season (May-October), there is no concierge on duty, so the front desk folks try to help you with reservations, etc. They are not very good at it! But otherwise, very nice for families and couples.

Barbadian Gem

Romantic getaway at the southernmost caribbean island, Colony Club Hotel in Barbados sits on a pristine west coast beach perfect for relaxing and baking in the sun; the most delicious ocean breezes and bajan food;dreamy sunsets;spacious suites with spa amenities(robes,slippers and full line of quality bath products). A shining gem among the string of Elegant Hotels of Barbados!

Lexy Piano Bar in Holetown features JEN PORTER, musician, for all nite singing and dancing; and the sushi is the best in St. James also!

Colony Club

Friendly staff. Clean premises, however not particularly modern compared with the sister hotel Tamarind. Food was terrible. Loved having the additional sun bed on patio.

Great stay

Loved the hotel, location on inland & staff. Beautiful setting, great beach with complimentary water sports & a swimming dock. Lovely sunset deck with great food & drinks. Comfortable rooms & beds, clean with TV & ipod dock. Business center has 2 computer terminals with spotty free internet access, but workable. Easy to rent a car & tour the island, but bring a good map!
