This residential resort is renowned for its unique cliff-top setting on one of the most beautiful pieces of beachfront in the world. Contemporary additions have transformed the Crane Resort and Residences from a small property into a first-class experience. The Crane is conveniently located a six-minute drive from Grantley Adams International Airport, on the southeastern coast of Barbados. Strategic location provides a comfortable sense of seclusion with convenient access to major sightseeing destinations.

Rooms

Rooms and suites are all unique in design and location, with authentic antique furnishings, original coral stone walls, spectacular views, and elegant canopy or four-poster beds. All come with cable television and VCR and include a desk plus spacious closet with large dressing area. Bathrooms include Jacuzzi bath, separate toilet area, spa shower with multiple shower heads, and double vanity.

Property features

The original 1887 historic hotel offers rooms and private residences. The newer private residences still offer 21st century conveniences and amenities, though the Crane remains steeped in Barbados history. Ground floor suites feature infinity edge private pools. Two-bedroom residences on upper floors offer individual plunge pools. Azure Restaurant serves fresh seafood with amazing ocean views. Another restaurant, Zen, specializes in classic Thai and Japanese cuisine.

Crane Beach is one of the best swimming spots on all of Barbados, protected by a natural coral reef. Crane pool overlooks the scenic Crane Beach. The resort has also recently opened a new 1.5-acre multi-cascading pool complex.

Guests who want to shop while on vacation can visit the duty-free emporium in the Village Town Hall. Nightlife and other sightseeing destinations are all a short drive away.

Beautiful resort

The Crane was great! A little far from island activities but nothing a short taxi ride couldn't fix. Would definitely stay here again. Food was a bit expensive but there's a grocery store near and we had a full kitchen.

Fantastic Holiday at the Crane

The Crane never fails to disappoint. The service is excellent, the rooms are huge, and the beach is awesome with pink sand and turquoise crashing waves. This was my 6th time here, so I am a fan, I love the rum punches served on the beach by attentive staff and the restaurants which are competitively priced serving an array of worldly cuisines, my favourite being Zen, the Japanese restaurant. This hotel is isolated, so if you want to party, stay on the West Coast, but if it`s relaxation and a calm elegant atmosphere, then this is the place to be.

The Crane

Situated on the South East Coast of Barbados, with a wonderful view of the Atlantic Ocean (together with breeze) and a perfect beach, I would thoroughly recommend The Crane when thinking of booking a luxurious hotel for a Barbados holiday. The accommodation comprises very spacious rooms which are serviced daily and kept to a high standard. There are several good restaurants, a bar, grocery store, gym, several pools, Jacuzzi, spa, coffee/bakery shop, Duty Free Shop, Jewellers, beautiful maintained gardens etc making the hotel complex quite contained with a village feel. Staff were all pleasant, and in general, put themselves out to be helpful. Would highly recommend and intend to return again.

Comforts of home

Property was secluded and gorgeous. Designed to be a little town with quaint shops, beautiful landscapes and very clean. As we traveled sound the southern part of the island we realized that where we were was perfect. Many hotels closer to Bridgeton gave more of an urban feel. The Crane felt more in the country. Since I relied on guest reviews for my purchase I have to add the minor critical details which would not deter us from staying there again. Cons: Internet access in the room was not good, housekeeping cleaned but didn't dust, no oven in the suites, seaweed on the beach but they worked hard to clear it and this part of the island the waves are rough. You will get tired of the food and restaurants so take taxi to supermarket and go shopping like you are home. Overall we loved it and would only recommend this property in the south area. West coast was also upscale and the water was calmer.

Great for families

Great for families with babies, plenty of space, great pools and good restaurants. Just don't expect a calm ocean on this side of the island

Multiple trips

Have been to Barbados multiple times and have stayed at numerous different places. I always come back to the Crane however because of it's lovely beach, great staff, beautiful grounds, and nice rooms. Very close to the airport. Only drawback is that it is a bit out of the way from the downtown and resort areas.

Great Family Trip

Loved the resort. They could improve the pools by having a small slide for the kids - they are all jumping where a slide should be. Also could use a ping pong table. Would also be a great activity for kids. The restaurants are all good, but they could be a little better and the staff could be a little happier.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The resort is the nicest on the island. Beautiful beach with big waves! It is a short drive form the airport, but it is on the east coast and all other resorts are on either the south or west side of the island.

Fantastic second honeymoon

First off the staff was excellent. If we didn't know where something was somebody would walk us to it. They all seem to know each other's jobs which was very nice. We only had to talk to one person and got the answer we were looking for. Guest services knew all the different things we could do on the island and helped set up everything. When the resort found out we were celebrating our anniversary they sent a big beautiful bouquet of flowers to our room. The suite was beautiful. Very large and spacious. We had a nice view of the water and a balcony. It had a cute kitchen and a huge bathroom. We also had a nice size walk in closet. We went on 2 wonderful catamaran rides. One was a sunset cruise and the other was a luncheon cruise. We swam with the turtles also we saw a sunken ship. There is a land rover tour for about five hours which was great. We saw the whole island and they provided us with a nice hot luncheon. The shopping in town was great. But if you didn't want to venture off the resort they had great stores in the resort. Local artisans also came into the resort twice. There's a beautiful beach in the resort and also five pools. This place is heaven. We are already booking a trip to go back in about two years. They also have a nicely stocked grocery store on the premises and three different restaurants. I can't say enough good things about this place everything was top notch. This resort is located far away from other resorts. So it's nice and quiet. Even though it's a large resort you weren't bumping into everybody else. We liked that it was not near all the other resorts and other restaurants. You could easily get to that with a taxi ride. This place had some families with children but it wasn't overrun with kids. It did rain every day for about a half an hour. Our last full day there it rained all day. They were having a tropical storm. Even that day we managed to have fun.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There was a wonderful restaurant right off the premises two blocks away turning left that was great and we were told there was another restaurant to the right that was also supposed to be really good.
