Not a family or a romantic getaway..a kite surfer's heaven only

The hotel was very nice, but it was just too far from the towns of interest. And, it really had no beach to swim in. If you are a kite surfer then it is great, but we were ill advised by your customer representative. Instead of being so remote and isolated, we should have been advised to stay at one of the hotels on the West coast or near St. Lawrence Gap.

Our Experience

The hotel was great. Our room was perfect, although I wish there was a tub or at least a jacuzzi by the pool. The king size bed in the loft was very comfortable and the balcony from our "partial ocean view room" was spectacular! Stacy at the bar was so welcoming and fun! The only downside for us was that when we wanted to go exploring it was an ordeal. Not a huge issue but a small inconvienence but luckily there are "reggae vans" all over and for only 1 dollar will take to where you want to go. Overall, I am very happy we stayed at the silver point hotel. Oh and if you want to go when its not too crowded, early May is perfect.

El Tigre Catamaran is the best one! Fun, smart, and extremely friendly crew. Great food if you take the lunch cruise. Swimming with the turtles was amazing. Bring an underwater camera! Drinks were included and they kept them coming.

Our Stay at Silver Point Hotel in April 2012

I just returned from a weekend trip to Barbados with a few of my girl friends. We opted to stay at Silver Point Hotel because the website made the hotel look inviting and the rates were hard to beat for what we assumed we would be getting. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find that our two partial ocean view rooms were anything but that. The way the hotel is situation, the main part is adjacent to the beach/ocean while the other part of the hotel is across the street. One of our rooms, the ocean view suite, was one of the rooms in the section across the street which meant we could glimpse a bit of the ocean from the balcony but that was the extent of our view. The partial ocean view room was in the main section of the hotel, however, the only 'partial view' this room boasted was of the parking lot below-- no ocean view whatsoever. We immediately complained to the women at the reception desk who was able to move us into two rooms with ocean views in the main section of the hotel which we were extremely grateful for. The positives is that the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood but within a short drive to places like St. Lawrence Gap, the ocean views are beautiful, the lounge chairs, the cabanas downstairs are great to have, the staff were all friendly, and the food and drink each time we ordered were great! The down sides, besides the disappointment with out initial rooms, was that the the light in one of the rooms never turned off and the toilet was broken and took over a day for the staff to fix the problem. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and was pleased with the hotel for the price but would probably spend more to try Ocean Two or the Crane next time we visit the island.

Wonderful romantic getaway

We decided that our getaway should be on the quiet side of things, so we chose a hotel that was not in the center of action in the South Coast (The Gap and Accra beach) but close enough so that we could easily access it by cab. The cab ride comes out to be about $15-$20 one-way to these parts - not an arm and a leg, but not cheap either. But that's about the only downside I can think of about this gem of a boutique hotel tucked away in Silver Sands. The decor is classy and intimate, and the two-story open-air lounge (which, if somewhat pricey, serves surprisingly amazing local fare) sits right by the beach. Every day, we were able to enjoy a drink or a meal with wind in our hair looking out to the beautiful sea dotted with kitesurfers. The people this hotel seems to attract were also the right kind for us - those looking to relax and enjoy the sun/surf, not those looking to party. Top this all off with a friendly staff, and we have the perfect hotel for those that wish to escape it all for a little while that one hopes to visit again in the future.

We couldn't make it, but Friday night at Oistin is supposed to be a celebrated tradition, where tourists and locals alike gather together for fresh fish on the cheap. Oistins is about a five minute drive away from the hotel.

Peaceful boutique hotel

We had a wonderfully relaxing 10 days at this hotel. The staff were fantastic, they couldn't do enough to help and were so friendly - everything with a smile. It's a very quiet and peaceful location - perfect for us as we needed to unwind, but if you wanted to be near the hustle and bustle or have lots of activities on your doorstep this might not be the place for you. The room was lovely and clean, spacious and nicely furnished. Everything as advertised. The restaurant was great - it would have been nice if the menu had varied a bit more but there was plenty of choice including some good local specialities.

Definitely make sure you go to Oistins (nearby village) for a fish fry dinner - its on every night and there's usually entertainment too. But Friday night is the big night when all the locals are out too - it's a great atmosphere.

perfect getaway

I'll start with the negatives: my room wasnt ready until 5:30 (check in as at 4). However, I managed to eat lunch at the restaurant and enjoyed the deck in the meantime. WiFi a little spotty, definitely stronger on the deck. Otherwise this place was amazing. The food was a little pricey at the restaurant but was good and portions were good as well (the catch of the day for dinner is probably the best bet!). Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (got a room upgrade and free drinks at the bar for the delay in my room being ready). Room was very clean, good shower. The day bed on the deck go quickly so "reserve" one by putting your towel/sandals on them very early in the morning Location: if you are looking for a resort close to all the action... this is NOT the place for you; however it is easy enough to taxi or bus into Bridgetown. If you want a more secluded getaway, then this hotel is perfect. If you enjoy kite-surfing, paddle-boarding, or wind-surfing - this is a great location

The Suites are Sweet

We stayed in two beach front suites. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. We arrived at 10pm and the front desk was closed. We had a few issues with one of our rooms - bathroom lights burnt out and a/c problems in the bedroom. The hotel, due to our issues, provided breakfast for four the next morning at no charge. The beds are great for enjoying the surf. You can pull an optional cloth cover overhead which was helpful as it was very warm when we were there over Thanksgiving. The staff was very warm and wonderful. The pool was heated and there was ample security so you weren't bothered by beach vendors. It is a much better choice than the larger hotels on the Island.

Kitesurf Paradise

If you are into kitesurfing this is definetely a great boutique hotel. We had an oceaview suite which was on the other side of the street, but not a problem it is not a busy street. Reception/Restaurant was fabulous and helped with whatever we needed and answered all our questions. The food was excellent and the sun We met alot of other couples it was a very laid back atomosphere. The only downfall in our suite the beds were great. Two wonderful days of kitesurfing. whole unit was not air conditioned. The kitchen, living area & bathroom had no a/c. Only the bedroom had a small unit. I had to do my makeup and hair in the room because of the heat. We really did not watch much tv but who wants to sit in heat to do it? There is not much to do in the area and to take a cab it is not cheap $20US dollars to go anywhere, which adds up quick. Next time we visit we will just stay to kitesurf and not venture out. They pretty much have whatever you need. Just a bit quiet at night.
