Fabulous and exciting birthday weekend
My stay on the island of Barbados and at Almond Beach Village was the greatest experience for my birthday. The staff at the hotel was very curtious. The food took a while to get used to, but we finally adjusted to the taste. We party on the island Trini style every single night four nights straight. The beaches was magnificiant but no good to arcylic nails. My only regret was to get someone to demonstrate the traditinal dance of "wok up".

Bigger is not always better!
Don't be fooled by the size of Almond Beach Village! Although it's huge, the hotel stay was stressful. It took the staff about an hour to get us checked in. When you have been traveling all day, you just want to get settled in your room, not wait an hour to be checked in. When we finally get into the room, we notice the air conditioner is leaking water----a lot of water, there was a huge puddle on the floor. It took the staff two days to get the problem fixed and the same thing happened again the day before we left. While at the resort, we met several other people who were having serious problems with their air conditioning, plumbing, and showers. For example, the people in the room next door to us had a problem with their shower---it wouldn't turn off and the tub wasn't draining, so their room was flooded, and still, it took hotel staff a long time to get there!!! As far as food, it's decent and the menu for dinner and lunch changes daily. However, breakfast is always the same. Be aware: virtually all the restaurants are outdoor except for one. It was very uncomfortable to eat outside in the heat and extreme humidity without air conditioning. There are lots of water sports, but you need to sign up for water skiing, and they only allow a few people per day. Needless to say, on a resort that size, I was never able to do the water skiing because they were always booked. Jet skiing is NOT included!

The staff were very friendly and the room was comfortable. No variety of foods; the menu was almost the same every day at each restaurant. No activities after dark (very boring) and the beach was very rocky

Great Vacation, With Some Reservations
Food, activities and staff friendliness were excellent. Customer service, such has response time was horrible. Our air conditioner was broken for 5 out of the 10 days we were there. They also couldn't find my reservation although it was booked back in Sept 2010. They kept us waiting too long for our room and then when we got the room, it wasn't the best. They put us in the kiddie section, when clearly I had young adults with me.

R and R in Barbados
It was nice, but could use a makeover, i.e. painting, good cleaning, shine up the tiled floors, replace the water-damaged drapes, shine up the windows, especially in the dining areas. There are pros and cons to an all inclusive. I went there just to get some rest, and not having to leave the resort to go out dining was a plus. Also, the fact there was a spa on the resort was good too because I wanted and had 1 1/2 massages without any difficulty of getting appts. The negative thing about the resort was cats! I saw at least 4 or 5, and I'm terrified of cats. Most of the employees with whom I spoke also said they don't like cats. So why are they there? Why can't they take them to an animal shelter or give them to their rightful owners?

Sisters wedding
I knew this hotel was going to be a problem before i even got into my room, becuase it took almost 6 hours to get one!! Very sloppy and unprofessional staff. Ive been vacationing in Barbados for 15 years and I deeply regret spending my hard earned money at this resort(if you can call it that). My Room was very outdated and not the cleanest. My air conditioning didnt work so i requested a different room which was WORSE so at that point i swallowed my pride and realized this place wasn't going to make me happy. Please take my advice and go else where. The crane is beautiful and i would also recommend the colony club.

Amazing honeymoon at an amazing resort
The Almond Beach Village was an absolutely beautiful place to stay. Despite the reviews that we read prior to booking we decided to take the chance, and we couldn't be happier that we did. The staff couldn't do enough to please us. Every staff member that we passed wished us a good morning or said hello. The room was spotless and the cleaning staff were super friendly and efficient. We didn't have one complaint about the resort at all. The beach was great. We were shocked at how much beach there was...the website doesn't do it justice. The people on the beach were so fabulous. We took a ride out to swim with the sea turtles which was super fun. We had a nice massage on the beach by[...] What a great guy. He had lots of information about Barbados and it was so relaxing to have a massage while listening to the waves coming in.The restaurants at the hotel were all very nice. The Italian restaurant was incredible. You do have to book reservatrions to go there so you need to do it at least a day in advance if not more. But well worth it. Every meal we had was great and there isn't one complaint we would have. The presentation of every meal was incredible. It was kind of nice to have to be presentable when going out for dinner. Roaming around in your bathing suit all day made it kind of nice to get all dressed up for dinner. You didn't have to be super classy or anything, just presentable. We are planning a trip back again next year and we are going to bring our whole family down, so we are very much looking forward to that!

Treated better with [...]
The trip was excellent and everything that we expected. We went down for four days for a wedding. We booked through [...]while everyone else booked through an agent who "supposedly" had a block of rooms. Everyone was scattered across the resort, they had incomplete and rooms that were unsatisfactory. We were beach front looking out at ground level to gardens and the turquoise ocean waters 75 feet away. The staff treated us better then our fellow travelers and we got a complimentary bottle of rum, wine and picture of the island. None of the other people with us got any of it. The hotel is a little dated but the a/c is ice cold and your outside most of the time anyway. The staff at the hotel took care of booking our deep sea fishing trip and anything else we needed. All the restaurants were excellent for an all inclusive with good local food. The drink to try is a MIAMI VICE. The only complaint that I really had was that they only had one type of beer at the hotel. There are other great Caribbean beers that I wish they had stocked as well. While there we walked the beaches, shopped, snorkeled, deep sea fishing, went to a cigar factory, and many other things. The swimming with the turtles got great reviews, we just did not have enough time. The Mount Gay Rum distillery is a must do. There are so many activities you can have a great vacation without even leaving the hotel. This was my first time to the Caribbean and we have many great memories of it.

Great shopping in Bridgetown with many things to see and do. The hotel runs a free tour into town and back. I recommend taking the ride in and either taking a cab or the public bus back to the hotel.
