My significant other and I stayed at The Reef without children. The place was relaxing and the service was outstanding. We ... LOVED dolphin cay...Esp the Sea Lion package(believe it or not)(and we did almost everything...shallow interation with the dolphins and deep water interaction with the dolphins but we loved the sea lion package best). I can't stress enough how absolutely fantastic "The Dig" was...It was like walking into another world...we kept contact with our family with free internet (15 min per person per day) and emailed one another. Some of the restaurants we wanted to eat at were closed but...this was made up by having dinner at "Mosaic" which was out of this world...the food was above and beyond there. We took a walk along the beach our first or second day and the beach was sad to say...a wreck...there were chairs, cushions and other assorted materials as well as debris along the shore..I had hoped that the workers that were doing lifeguard duty along the beach would pick up the debris but alas...this wasn't the case...the situation and sight of the mess was sad to me...esp in such a beautiful place...All in all I would definitly recommend this for a fantastic vacation and if you are a certified scuba diver or want to be...please visit Stuarts Cove as it was an awsome dive experience.

Across the street from the Coral Towers is an inexpensive restaurant called Anthony's. Great breakfast. Also, the Green Parrot is reasonable for lunch or dinner. This is a block from the water taxi and sit on the water.

Awesome 20th Anniversary
PK Aug 28, 2009
I loved the Atlantis. It is very expensive but we were aware of that before our trip. We stayed in the Reef, I thought more ... would be included for the price. ex; the gym(extra $15/day), access to the adult pool(Cove only). With all the pools and water rides, there was plenty to do on site. Next time, I would check into the rates of renting a car to have more access to Nassau and Paradise Island. You either have to take the water taxi or a regular taxi to get to the main land or any distance from the Atlantis. Between the rates and the tips, the cost add up.

Luxury & Convenience

Atlantis is fabulous. The one thing this hotel is missing is a Bar or Lounge right on site. There is a starbucks, why can't ... it be a lounge @ night, so people can meet and chat about experiences. Pool area had plenty of shade & cushioned chairs to hide from August Sun. Kitchenette was great, hate to go out for breakfast. Also good when starving from all daily activites, bring small cooler to pool each day, and save a bundle on drinks.

Perfect Resort & Hotel
Kidless vacation Aug 18, 2009
Perfect vacation away from the kids. The Reef is mostly secluded from the rest of the resort. Our pool was only 25% occupied ... all week, so it was very private and quiet. However, it is still within walking distance to the rest of the resort & activities. We knew the meals would be expensive. Dinner at the Dune was amazing and delicious! Worth the cost. The resort only has two sit down lunch restaurants that you can hit in your pool attire. Shark bites and the Lagoon. Food was good and a little nicer than the fast food options at the pools. Looking forward to going back again with the kids!

The Orbitz offered transportation to/from the airport was horrible. We paid $100 up front for transportation so that we did not have to hunt down a car once we arrived at the airport. Turns out they put us in a taxi with 2 other couples. Taxi rate to hotel was $32.00. Bottom line - we paid more thru Orbitz and it took longer than if we just grabbed our own taxi!!!

Fabulous Fantastic Paradise

Went as a couple to Reef Atlantis after researching reviews on multiple sites. Had studio ocean room. Very lovely, roomy, ... kitchenette, big screen tv, large double sink bath with tub and shower and tv. We loved it, would go again. I paid extra for an ocean view (all rooms have balcony w/ chairs) and i highly recommend the extra $, was well worth it to sit and enjoy the ocean, as the hotel is grand, and right on its own private beach shared with one other ritzy hotel, the cove. the hotel has its own private, beautiful, uncrowded, crystal clear waters beach with 2 pools which only reef and cove guests can attend. however, reef guests have access to the rest of atlantis resorts. (get a wristband each day at the towel hut). we are in late 30s and both of us rode the water rides, the current river is awesome! we were in the water all day. we brought our own snorkel stuff/fins and went at the beach there. there were TONS of colorful fish..parrot, cuddle, flounders, more! go by the reef that divides the beach. you will see it. we didnt spend our money on any excurtions. they are very expensive. and the food is OUTRAGEOUS! we knew this going in, which is why we chose the reef it has a kitchenette. cooktop, micro, fridge, everything but an oven. even a blender and dishwasher, and maid does your dishes. you can call down and they will bring you up some pots and pans and spatula to use. we packed frozen food in soft cooler in suitcase. yes you can do this. and dry food as well. then got cab, stopped at market and liquor store. the restaurants are rediculously expensive and not great unless you wanna spend $300 at mesa grill. but you have to wait in line for reservation the day of and we didnt wanna waste our day in line for a dinner later. we made quesadilas, breakfast, pancakes, eggs... be creative. you get starbucks coffee in room. we usu ate the "value meal" at one of the stands just past the cove near the 'baths' pool. burger, fries and coke for $8. deal. the reef will get you ride at front for quick ride to market if you need more. dont buy from their sundries store. a bag of fritos are $8. coke is $9 for a 6pack. i made daquiris in my room, brought bag of frozen fruit. ha! after 7pm, the pools and water rides close, which is odd. so you are kinda just chilling out, so im glad we had our balcony. we went and ate in our room then went and checked out the aquariums and lagoons. make sure you check out the DIG in the main towers hotel. its really awesome, esp in evening. do the abyss water slide. its intense! we rode the current on those tubes for hours. felt like kids. i dont even think i read my book i brought once. im so glad we chose the reef, or we would have starved or gone broke eating out if we got a table. plus they also include 15%gratuity in everything. OH...they have a dominos pizza someplace, they deliver too. ive read about hidden charges in some reviews on other sites...maid charges, utility charges...but our bill was right on. no hidden fees, etc. orbitz did have utility and housekeeping fees included. they do charge them throughout the islands i believe. overall i would DEF choose the reef. it was an awesome hotel, the staff was extremely pleasant, very accommodating. very clean and quiet. equisite views of the ocean and the resort. best hotel ive stayed in ever, actually.

no restaurants in hotel. only starbucks, which has a few cold sandwiches for decent prices. short walk to main tower hotel, then behind that to the marina or harbor area has restaurants. its always very crowded and full of people and noise. most places wont let you in without a reservation, which you have to come early to wait in line to get, and some places you have to have a large party to get one. TIP: bring your own food. lots of it. crackers, snacks, tuna and chicken foil packets, tortillas, shredded cheese, bagels, streudel, precooked bacon, condiment packets, butter, salt sugar pepper...oatmeal, cereal. then stop there on your way from airport and get eggs, juice, milk, bread, etc. i know it sounds silly, but im TELLING YOU youll be glad later. we only spent like $200 the whole time and thats a few drinks and burgers and pop. i cant imagine if we had to buy 3meals/day! they offer a meal plan, but its pricey too, and dont include lunch. this is the way to go. my bf thought i was nuts but now hes glad we brought all that food.

We had been to Atlantis before with our children and loved it! This time we went back without the kids to celebrate our 20 ... year anniversary. We loved it again! The weather in June is a little more cloudy and rainy, but did not dampen our fun. The accomodations at the Reef are stellar! There is so much to do there, day and night. The locals eat at a place called the Green Parrot, just off-site and walkable that has great food and good prices and even a pool for the kids to swim while waiting for your food! We highly recommend a visit to Atlantis!

Stayed in a harbor view room, however ample view of the ocean from our balcony on the 5th floor! having experienced the royal ... towers and the cove i would say the reef falls somewhere in between the two. with a clean and lavish lobby just below 22 floors of up-to-date modern furnished rooms and hallways, the reef will always have a place in my heart. expect a bit of a walk to marina village as it is located the furthest away, but if you're like me the longer the walk the better! palm trees and lots of flowers will surely be there to accompany you. i'd say after visiting Atlantis in October and July, late April was the best time to head down there as the weather was near perfect with abundant sunshine, warm temps., warm waters, and all around quiet. Can't wait to head back!

Grouper and conch fritters, say no more! if you plan on purchasing water, go across the street past the marina village and buy a gallon of water for just under $2. Get those hiking sandals on! Marina village is a 10-15 min walk! No worries, plenty to feast your eyes on along the way :)

Mixed Feelings...
Nilssons Apr 12, 2009
Where to begin. Our flight experience was a complete disaster. If there is a direct flight available for you- take it, it is ... worth every penny! Our flight (along with numerous other flights going to Nassau) were canceled at the last minute due to "mechanical issues". We met some very nice and helpful locals who said this was fairly common. We were able to fly standby on a flight 5 hours later than our original flight which put us in paradise after dark, wasting an afternoon of our vacation. Had we not gotten on a standby flight- the next guaranteed flight we were granted was at 9:15 P.M. the next evening. Best part is that when they canceled our original flight, it voided our return flight which was awesome. Had we not gotten in line with a fantastic American Airlines associate we might still be sitting at the Nassau airport. The Reef hotel is beautiful. This resort is a condominium property. The rooms are nicely furnished, and there is a Starbuck's downstairs (which is one of the cheapest places to grab breakfast or a sandwich AND they serve Java Chip LIGHT Frappacino's-one of the highlights of the trip!!) The staff was pretty friendly and the location is nice because it is a little further from all of the kid action. If you are traveling without kids, we would highly recommend staying at the Cove instead of the Reef. They have a really nice adult only pool which is only available to Cove guests. They also serve chips and salsa which is not available to any other Atlantis guests...a diet staple for a Texan. We were very sad that we were not allowed to join in on the fun- it was a very cool place with great comfy chairs, fun music, great food and gambling. If you have kids and want to save some money, we met several families that stayed at the Comfort Suites and were able to enjoy all Atlatis activities. Go off property to get dinner. The best place we ate was in Nassau at Cafe Matisse. This is such a lovely restarant with attentive, professional and friendly staff and fantastic food. Restaurants are very expensive in Atlanis and if you do not have a reservation, forget about being served (even if there are empty tables...). One night we were refused at Mesa Grill because we did not have a reservation at 9:00 p.m. even though the tables were half full. We sat in the bar and ate 2 appetizers and had 2 drinks and the bill was one hundred bucks. We recommend getting a taxi (very reasonably priced) and going into town! Something worth mentioning is that gratuity is already included on restaurant bills so wait staff and bartenders know that they will be receiving a tip regardless of how well they service a customer. The casino was OK. Not an exciting atmostphere. The aquariums and lazy river are very nice and the Blue Adventure snorkle trip was the best part of the trip. Those that participated in the more expensive SNUBA did not seem to like it any more than those of us that just snorkled. The free movies shown in the theater were also a cool way to unwind at night. Overall, it was ok in the Bahamas. We will probably not be back. If we had kids it might have been a different experience.

My review of The Reef Atlantis
Nicole Jun 29, 2008
I have been to the Atlantis before and was very happy in the past. I had a good time and a good stay this past trip but found ... a couple of things were not up to standard. Checking into the hotel should not take anywhere near 20mins, and most annoying of all my TV was broken in my room. i called every day to have it fixed and no one ever showed up to do so. I also noticed that the grounds need a little more attention. The gardening was a little off and there were cigarette butts along the trails to the pool. The hotel is beautiful dont get me wrong and i did have a good time but for the price that you pay to stay at a place like this everything should be close to perfect and i did not feel that it was.

The Reef
John Apr 25, 2008
Although the Hotel was beautiful, it was really far from most of the restaurants and activities. There were shuttles, but ... waiting for the shuttle to go to where we wanted was a drag it took so long, so we walked most of the time. We thought there would be a restaurant in the hotel itself, but was disappointed. We wanted to go to the Cain pool which is an all adult pool but we were turned away because we were not staying at the Cove. That was very disheartening. Then we found out that if you rented a cabana for 600/day you could stay there. Frankly, that is rediculous. One women was allowed to bring her 12 year old son in the Adult only pool because she paid for a cabana. So...how it is only adults? The Atlantis property is awesome and lots to do, but the Reef is off the beaten path in our opinion. The maid did not clean our room as it should have. She never vacummed the whole 4 days we were there. Nor did she wipe up the floor by the stove. I complained, but they never came up to correct the problem.

My review of The Reef Atlantis
Ronald Mar 7, 2008
This was our fourth trip to the Atlantis. We have stayed in all the other towers(Beach, Royal and Coral). All were great but ... the Reef was over the top in size, amenities and furnishings. The water slides, rides and pools and beaches are all top shelf at the Atlantis. The food at the marina gives great options for good food at more reasonable prices. The casino, Aquarium, landscaping and ideal weather made the trip the best of our lives. Tjhe Reef was beautiful and the service was exceptional. The elevatior service was somrething to behold and made the excursions to the pool and beach hassle free. This is a can't miss experience for those who want a wonderful trip and understand that this type of resort is well worth the cost.

My review of The Reef Atlantis
Denise Feb 25, 2008
I felt the price for the rooms was very high considering there was not even a restaurant at this hotel. The only option for ... food was at Starbuck's in the lobby or the lobby store. The prices for food were ridiculously high. I don't mind paying a good price for good food. This was not the case. I also did not like that you had to take a shuttle everywhere. It is too big of a resort. We traveled with 3 other families so the kids had a wonderful time on the slides, water sports etc. We have older kids so we found it quicker to walk rather than take the shuttle. However, it would be difficult with smaller children to do so. I also did not like how the vender's were on the beaches with no control from the hotel. There were alot of locals in side the casino, and other areas of the resort which just made me a little more cautious with my children.
