A True Paradise

A great place to relax, read, tan under the brilliant sun, swim and walk along the white sand beach. The fine dining restaurants have great atmosphere and delicious food, however, overly priced. There is a lot to do on the property including water slides, water rafting, casino, and shopping at the marina. The ferry into downtown is inexpensive and the downtown area is worth the trip. Our room at the Reef was spectacular, the hospitality was superior and the staff was friendly and accommodating. A fantastic place to visit but buff up your plastic!!!

Atlantis Getaway

The entire facility is 5 star and beautiful. I would have given an overall 5 stars except that our room was beginning to show signs of wear and tear. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The Atlantis resort is a giant upscale waterpark. Any age from 6 to 60 can have loads of fun there. Naturally such a place is filled with kids; making it a less than perfect couples getaway. It's not really quiet and romantic; but it's pure fun for almost everyone.

Great location and rooms

The Atlantis resort has an incredible diversity of things to do. The beach and pools were great, the water park was a blast, and the service and room was top notch. Only downside is that it is expensive.

Nice But The Nickel and Diming Is Nuts

Very nice rooms (we stayed in an Ocean View King) and great staff/service. Reading reviews on the property beforehand I knew it would be expensive for not only the room charge but the meals, etc. but this is where we wanted to go. Knowing in advance that things like food and room charges we overpriced helped with the initial shock of pricing at The Reef Atlantis but I really was surprised at just how much the property nickel and dimes guests. Basic things like $2 16oz. Fiji water in the gift store is $7 and a $1.39 bag on chips is $8. Atlantis just seems to add a premium on every price even after considering you are paying ~$500 per night to just be in the room. Expensive hotels usually come with amenities and luxuries included, that's why they are luxury so you don't have to worry about small things. Even the pretty standard pricing for Internet of $12.95-$14.95/day is $19.95 at Atlantis. A $26 bottle of Argyle champagne is $100. $30 to just sit on the beach and watch the Dolphins perform (not interact or be in the water, just to watch). $70 for a breakfast for 2. Almost impossible to have a dinner for 2 at less than $200 on the property. I guess I would expect these extra charges from a resort that charges low room rates but at $500/night you would expect some things come included. Not at The Atlantis.

The Reef Atlantis

This was our first time in the Bahamas. The hotel was great - would recommend Reef over RT, BT or CT. Reef offers private beech area for Reef and Cove guests only which was great b/c the beach was not overcrowded or loud. The staff members on the beach were very helpful with setting up chairs and extra towels. The hotel recommended we get wristbands everyday but I am not sure why since we were asked to show room cards anyhow. We had the Atlantis Experience Card, which offered discount on Dolphin Swim as well as free cocktails. Be sure to check your folio occasionally as sometimes charges will appear out of nowhere (although most of the time, the folio review was not working in the room). But we were charged for the free drinks and random $53 from poolside restaurant. The hotel was a nice walk to Aquaventure and the kiddie pools. The 'high intensity' lazy river ride was the best - not intense at all. If you want to do the Dolphin experience, make reservations in advance. All in all, we had a great time and hope to make this a yearly trip!

Starbucks in the Reef was great for quick, relatively inexpensive breakfast and/or sandwich for lunch. The rooms provide Starbucks coffee pods and tea pouches.

Reef Experience

Had a great week at the Reef and Atlantis--Family trip and we all enjoyed the beach/pool and water adventures. Only thing to make trip better would be more casual eating in the evening that's affordable for a family/group. Seems to be more Formal dining and pricey at these--which is fine for some but not for all. Guess more water adventures and food variety would be the only thing I would see improvement in except for the Price of everything. But Atlantis gets you pretty to close to Paradise!!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Pack most of your snack foods, drinks etc to save on dining daily. Makes a hassle on trip over in luggage but worth the haul. Taxi will stop at market on way into Atlantis if you ask and get your perishable items then and you do not have to leave again. This makes it nice to freshen up in room during day and eat lunch and leave eating large meal for night out at the resort. Of course have to book reservations at many of the restaurants so take note of planning.
