I would definitely advise to take a trip to the fish fry. food is much cheaper, and if you're tired of the resort food you should take a trip for some native food.

Nice Hotel, but Very Expensive
The Atlantis Reef was a nice hotel at about the level of the MGM Signature in Las Vegas. However, the hotel was about 4 times more expensive than the Signature. Security in the Hotel was oppressive. Security personnel wanted to see the hotel key before entering the elevator. Food was very expensive. Hamburger and Fries by the pool was $30. Buffet dinner was $80. Two Pizzas was $84. The only halfway reasonable food was Starbucks at $10 for a Latte & a muffin.

Best Family Vacation Ever!
We just returned from our best family vacation ever at the Reef Atlantis in the Bahamas! We had a one bedroom ocean view suite. The room was extremely spacious, and had all the amenities of home that you would need, including a twin aerobed. We enjoyed having a full kitchen. To save money, we recommend taking a taxi to a grocery store outside of the resort. Everyone at the resort was extremely friendly and helpful!

We did the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter (deep water swim), rather than the dolphin encounter at the Dolphin Cay at Atlantis. We had an awesome experience, and think we had more intimate intereactions with the dolphins than you'd receive at the Dolphin Cays. It was also less expensive. We also took the Island World Adventures Powerboat Tour to the Exuma Islands. I think this was a highlight of our vacation! We snorkled in the most beautiful coral beds, feed sharks and iguanas, and relaxed on a powdery, white sand bar.

Amazing Honeymoon
Atlantis lives up to the hype. I stayed there for 8 nights with my wife for our Honeymoon in July-Aug. We had to take a taxi from the airport ($35) as there is no shuttle, but once we arrived we were escorted to checking and were able to a request a specific room on a high floor and were granted it. Everyone at the entire resort was very friendly, talkative, and helpful for the length of our stay. We stayed at the Reef Atlantis which is the furthest tower from all the action (Mostly in the Royal Tower and Coral Tower) but it's only a short, beautiful walk or a free shuttle ride to all other towers, provided by Atlantis. The nice thing about the Reef is that all the rooms (from what I can tell) have balconies, which is a big thing for me. We had an ocean view room and the balcony was the best part because we could sit out there and read the paper in the morning, or enjoy a night cap in the evening. It looked to me that the standard rooms at the Royal Tower did not have a balcony, only the suites. Another good thing about the Reef is that it's not as busy as the other towers so it's never a problem to find a beach chair on the beach or the pools and the crystal clear water and white sand beaches are never too packed. One drawback to the Reef is that the only attraction in the tower is Starbucks. All other resturaunts, excursions, buffets, bars...are located in the other towers so the only time you will spend at the Reef is in your room. The room itself was spacious with a huge bathroom, with a tub and stand up shower, a separate room for the toilet, and a his & her sink. I believe the Reef is the only one with a kitchen also as it was built for timeshares and extended living so there is a sink, microwave, stove, dishwasher, toaster... The room was very clean and new looking. All the appliances worked fine and housekeeping thoroughly cleaned the room everyday while we were gone. Atlantis itself is a one stop shop. Besides the beautiful beaches, there are several pools, gift shops, bars, and other attractions. Aquaventure (the water park) being the biggest. My wife and I spent a whole day on the Rapids ride which is a mile long lazy river with spurs of rapids, a tidal wave, and 2 tube water slides that you float to or take a different path not to. The Leap of Faith and The Abyss are the two basically straight drops that are the most fun for the thrill seekers. The food is another matter that made me rate Atlantis so high. There are several fine dining eateries that rank very high on my favorite restaurant list. We visited Nobu (twice), Cafe Martinique, Dune, Casa D'Angelo, and the Marketplace. Nobu (Japanese) was by far our favorite. It's located inside the Casino right next to the Aura Nightclub and the drinks, appetizers, cold and warm dishes and sushi are all fantastic. Also so very friendly wait staff. Dune was our second favorite, alot due to the location. It's right on the beack but also part of the One and Only Garden. I highly recommend spending some daylight here, even if you don't eat at the restaurant. I had the Bahamian lobstertail at Dune though, which was very fresh and probably the best lobster I have every had. Cafe Martinique in Marina Village was a nice place, but I thought the menu was kind of lacking for being a fine French restaurant. Casa D'Angelo had superb Italian food, great scenery, and great service, and a bit on the cheaper side compared to the others on this list. If you travel to the mainland (which I also highly recommend) I would check out the straw market in downtown to see some locally made gifts and do some haggling. Also right next to it is Senor Frogs, a very fun bar and restaurant. The most popular place to eat on the mainland is at the Fish Fry. It is a series of restaurants that server local food and Oh Andros is the most highly recommended and also very good. My only complaint about Atlantis is for our trip, it was our Honeymoon, and Atlantis is a very busy family destination. ...

Nobu, a Japanese restaurant was good enough for us to go to twice among all the other places Atlantis has to choose from. The service and food are both excellent. Also, if you go to the mainland, you must try Oh Andros at the Fish Fry. Exquisite traditional fresh Bahamian food!

Beautiful, too pricey for what you get.
This place is beautiful and the people friednly. They r n NO hurry to do anything. U pay 4-5 star prices & expect that type of service all the way around. For the money we cound get the same accomedations if not better at other places. Happy to have gone but won't make this a regular vacation destination. Lots to do, swim w/ dolphins, water parks, gambling, shopping!
