Christmas in the Bahamas

I had read reviews about the staff being rude and different things about the resort & food prices but we experienced nothing but the best. All of the staff were professional, helpful, and very pleasant when passing by. We had an ocean view in the COVE and it was perfect, the view was out of this world! The room was always clean, the cleaning staff were very friendly, the turndown service was nice, the girls left soothing music playing, and 2 bottles of water each night for the turndown service. The shampoo, soaps, etc. were more of the higher end of products and were a nice touch. There was a COVE beach bag in the room, yours to keep as well. The food to me was not overpriced when compared to other resorts. A frozen drink was $9 which included the tip and I do not consider that a lot. The food choices were okay. A few of the restaurants were pricey but again, nothing out of the ordinary for a resort like this. They did have a pizza place at Marina Village where pizza was $6-7 a slice, it was very good. We enjoyed the free movie each night, the movie selection was current too. The weather was perfect for Christmas. A nice breeze and big chairs to relax on outside. We also enjoyed the music played by the pools. We did lay out at the adult pool at the Cove and it was nice with no kids running around. The casino was small and didnt have much of a selection of slots to play. We still had a good time. It did have an odor of smoke and urine- It would be nice if some newer games could be put in. I found myself getting bored with the selection. We took the ferry to the straw market, it cost $4 each way. The people there were a bit aggresive for me and it was hard for me to look around with people constantly bugging me to buy something... It might just be me though, I had to leave and go elsewhere to shop. I would not hesitate when picking the COVE ATLANTIS. Very nice place, pricey but they do have specials occasionally.

A really lovely experience

This is the second time we've stayed at the Cove-- as usual, it was a great experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the location is beautiful, and the room is lovely. It might be a bit pricey (somehow we racked up a healthy bar and food bill-- and the phone charges are insane) and the music by the Cove pool a little loud, but overall, it is a beautiful vacation spot.

Having drinks by the water at the Ocean Club is a great end to the day. The food at Dune has gone down hill a bit since we were there in February, but the setting is perfect for a drink!

The Cove Atlantis

The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. Although food at the hotel was more expensive than we expected, the hotel was beautiful and our room was very nice. The room was equally as nice as the room we had at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. We had a beautiful ocean front view and couldn't have asked for a better location. We were a little worried that our room faced the adult pool that had a lot of loud thumping music but once you closed the balcony door, there was complete silence in the room. Very smart! The hotel was nicely situated next to the Royal Towers and very accessible to additional dining, shopping, etc. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely go back to The Cove.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

If you can take snacks with you in your carry-on luggage, do so. The food everywhere on Paradise Island is expensive. Having these snacks saved us a lot of money. And, go off site onto Bay Street to get bottled water. We were able to get a gallon of spring water for very cheap compared with what the resorts were selling them for.

Stay Elsewhere

We went to the Cove for a romantic weekend. It was the worst vacation we have been on. The room they gave us was right underneath construction and we woke up every morning at 7:30 am!! to the sound of hammering. We called 5 times asking for the noise to stop until it did (it was already 9am and we couldn’t go back to sleep). They promised that the noise would not start the next day until 10am. They lied, the next day we woke up to the noise at 8am. at $400/night, there should not be any noise anytime. Next was the service. Throughout the hotel, the service was terrible. No one seemed to want to do their job and they made it known. One of the draws of the hotel, the adults only pool, was not special at all. And in any event, every single chair at the pool is "reserved" by 9am by the pool staff for the guests they favor (i.e. big tips). No tip=no chair. I don’t have a problem tipping, but it shouldn’t be a requirement to get a chair. And this was done very overtly. Even worse, once you did get a chair, if you asked for towels the staff would unabashedly tell you to get up and get it yourself!! Unless of course you gave yet another tip. In the end, I don’t blame the staff. These are working class folks trying to make ends meet, but the management needs to make the place more of a hotel and less of a bazaar. Also, when we arrived we found the bathtub dirty. It took three calls to get it cleaned. Would not return. Not worth the $$.

Honeymoon at The Cove - Atlantis

Beautiful hotel with oceans views. I really like the upscale Cove since it has a private pool area next to the beach. My only gripe is that everything is over priced from the food to the drinks. The Mosaic buffet was $67 per person, $27 for kids, the food looked great, but not for this price. We packed a separate suit case and filled it with snacks, water, wine, etc. It's a good thing we did because that saved us hundreds of dollars. The water slides were awesome and for the most part, 80% of the staff were very polite. Oh, there's a 15% gratuity tacked on to everything!

Pack water, wine, snacks and check in a separate suit case. The only free drinks are when you gamble in the casino. Single beers were $8.00 and mixed drinks range from $10 to $17 each.

Atlantis cove

The hotel was beautiful and the view from the room outstanding.somewhat noisy at night but I was only on the 6th floor. I was very disappointed that the room did not automatically include wifi. Considering how much I paid for the room it was surprising. I had been several times to Mexico and Hawaii and the wifi was included. Especially notable was the conference rooms did not have that as well. Restaurants were nice but even pricier than I had expected.the pool at the cove was good but too noisy. The beach was lovely with white sand. Went to the one and only restaurant(dune) and found it to be fantastic. The resort their was tranquil. All in all a nice visit but not somewhere I would return again

Atlantis Resort Overall Needs Improvemen

We only went in for a day. We Stayed at Comfort Suites only 100yards from the entrance to Atlantis. We went in on 4/1/2011. I'm a little picky about details so here goes. The resort looks a little worn for less than 10 years old. Some obvious areas of disrepair. Trash cans not emptied when full, cups and cans left around not picked up regularly. Aquarium glass dirty inside and out. Barcode (hundreds)tags on light fixtures everywhere for maintenance to scan that the fixture was checked. Gum stuck on surfaces everywhere and worst of all EXPENSIVE. The water park is not as good as most water parks in the USA. The Bahamas is nice and warm and the people are relatively friendly and it is probably safer than Jamaica. Atlantis is not a great deal. I'm sure there are Mexican resorts that are just as good.I know there are US resorts that are way better. I think you can stay at a beaches if you have kids for about the same cost and it's all inclusive. There was also staff on motorized golf carts and things moving constantly during the day.You were constantly dodging service vehicles. You wont see this at Disney. If I want slow marginal service, Caribbean style I will go to Jamaica.
