20 Years of Fun
20-Year Second Honeymoon
Our original honeymoon was to the Bahamas, before Atlantis was 'born' so we decided to go back to the islands for our 20-year anniversary. Having the combination of the beach, fabulous pools and the Casino so close was perfect! We stayed in the Coral Towers, an older facility but offering a very centralized location to everything. The rooms were clean and we had a first floor terrace view giving us a patio with chairs/table to sit at and admire beautiful tropical foliage with a small lagoon of sharks a few feet away - very cool. It rained several times while we were there so we used this time to take in the fantastic indoor fish tanks, listen to the local musicians in each gathering area and then sit out on the covered patio with some wine and think back over the last 20 years. While Coral Towers isn't the newest or fanciest, it offered clean rooms, albeit ours was a bit smoky smelling, a friendly staff everywhere we went, a library with free daily internet and a centralized location just 2 or 3 minutes of indoor walking from the marina, the pools, shopping, the Casino and multiple restaurants. Yes, the food is expensive and a 15% gratuity is added to everything but it's a resort and something we just planned for and have seen at other resorts as well. The Breakfast Buffet ($28) was limited in comparison to those we enjoy in Las Vegas so unless you need a lot of food, explore your options. We did make a quick 5-minute walk to the Marina/Harbor Village to pick up some cheaper sodas, wine, snacks and Dunkin Donuts at the little grocery store but bring your own wine bottle opener unless you want to spend $6 on one there. Overall a great experience and would definitely go back with the kids, plus the lines for the water rides were non-existent in the light rain - a plus for us over 40-somethings!

Take the 5-minute walk into the Marina/Harbor Village, still on the island, and grab some more reasonably priced snacks, soda and alcohol. Use the mini-fridge in the room to keep cool and save money.

This is the second time we have come to Atlantis and was not as impressed this time. Last time the staff was much more friendly and happy. The weather was not that good. Rained 4 out of 7 days which I know is out of their control but out a damper on the vacation. Other than the movie theater and comedy club, there was not much else to do while it was raining. I can't imagine what people did that had children all day. Things were much more expensive this time around. Food was not that good and not much variety. Mostly fried or high fat.

Great Family Vacation Destination!
Overall our experience was fantastic, with 2 teenagers Atlantis offers more than enough to keep our entire family happy! Coral Towers was a good location for us as we enjoy the marina at night. Gone all day so who cares about room size but I must say the staff at the Coral was great friendly and accomadating, we asked for ground level and got it during busy April! Beds turned down at night, extra towels, great service! We highly recommend Coral Towers great value compared to others in Atlantis!

Atlantis Coral Towers
Coral Towers is the way to go if you're on a budget but would like access to all of the basic Atlantis perks. This tower is very close to the Marine Village which was convenient.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Paradise Village Store is also a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Good place to pick up snacks and water for approx. half the price of what Atlantis charges.

Ritz prices, theme park property
Weird mixture of a hotel whose prices rival that of a stay at the Ritz but whose property is more reminiscent of Six Flags. Aquaventure water park is outstanding, but if it's a *resort* vacation you are seeking, keep looking. You also have to walk endlessly as the property is literally too big for you to see in one week. It's a 20 minute walk from one side to the other. Tons of the highest-end shopping. Can't avoid the casino (you really can't get where you are going without walking through it). Food is just OK but the value for money is poor (e.g. Morton's prices, Sizzler quality). Avoid Bahamian Grill. Seek out Cafe Martinique. Absolutely avoid the buffets. Another annoying aspect - aggressive "subtle" tip-seeking behavior of the staff. I was told at the Seafire grill that the "chef just made this steak sauce specially for you from scratch". It was A1 Sauce, the industrial-sized vat of which was clearly visible through the window of the kitchen. C'mon! To be fair, we had a good time but it wasn't the vacation that we thought we were going to have. Their website is really deceptive. The property we stayed in (Coral Towers) smells like feet and is one of the oldest buildings on the property. If you stay there, I would recommend that you choose the Royal Tower or the Cove Atlantis as they are newer and are in better locations.

Good, but extremely expensive
Our third stay for a medical meeting. We stayed in the Coral Tower, Reef Wing. You can luck out and get a nice view of the beach (from a distance), grounds, and the large wing of the hotel which is very pretty at night. Or- you can have a view of a marina, or ugly rooftops. If on a low floor, the view may only be of some trees. The beach, grounds, and water park were very crowded. Not only is the hotel huge but cruise ships empty their tourists onto the grounds daily. I was struck by how loud the music is and everywhere you go, there is a different type of LOUD music. In some areas, there was pop music with Michael Jackson most of the time. Other places we heard steel drums or ghetto music incessantly. If you want to sit on your balcony, you may be overwhelmed by music or the sound of machinery. It's nice to wander the property and view marine life and it gets you out of the sun. It was cold last year in January. This year it was 80, but with a breeze, it was cold getting in and out of the water over and over. Drinks are over $10 and there is absolutely no place to get just a drink of water. The $1.20 bag of Lays chips is $7. To save on food, try the Marina area and the Cave Grill at the beach. There are some sandwiches and salads that are reasonable FOR THIS RESORT, but if you have a family, expect some shock when you see your bill at checkout.

Loved It!
We found the entire staff of Atlantis to be outstanding. We did have a problem with the water going out and they quickly gave us another room to shower in. The resort is expensive but worth it if you are going to travel to Paradise Island. Lots to do for all ages. The food is not that good for the cost but we found some lower price alternatives. Starbucks was great for breakfast, pool side bars were good for lunches and the Casino bar and Johnny Rockets were decent alternatives to the pricer places for dinner. We traveled with four kids ages 16-20.

Ripped off
I would like to take the time to report on our experience at the resort. We had reserved 4 nights at the Coral Tower. Upon arrival at the hotel my wife and I discovered that it was a very family friendly hotel. Unfortunately because of it's clientèle, we also found it very loud and busy. Wanting a quieter experience, we inquired if there was another spot on the property we could go hoping for a little quieter environment. The hotel receptionist explained that there was a property that was for adults only. The Cove. Even the pool was for adults only and we could enjoy a more grown up environment. We told her that we would definitely be interested in this, and asked what the additional charge would be. She got on the phone and called over to find out what was available. She then told us that she got us a great deal over there, and for only $944 more we could move there. Even though it was quite a bit more than budgeted I agreed wanting my wife to enjoy her vacation. At this point she gave us a receipt and welcome package and we proceeded to move to the new location. We still had not brought our bags in so I went out to the bellman and asked him to transfer the bags over to the cove. He asked for my receipt, but the receipt said the Reef. He said that according to the receipt, we were booked at the reef. I thought it was the same, but he said they were two different locations. My wife ran inside to ask the clerk about it, and she told my wife, that she booked us there because it was a newer building, and thought we would like it better. She also told my wife that all the special exclusions she had explained were still available at the Reef. Not knowing any better we checked in. The next morning my wife and I decided to venture down to the Cove pool. Upon entrance to the pool we were stopped by security and asked for our room key. Upon presentation of the key we were told that the pool was only available to guests of the cove. We told the man we were told otherwise, and he referred us to a young lady who appeared to be a guest manger at the pool. We explained the situation to her, but her only resolution was if we spent $500 in a private cabana then we could stay there otherwise she could not help. After already spending $944 I felt to spend another $500 was not quite right. Also we found out the hotel we did stay at was not for adults only after all, finding other families staying there as well. I would like to say that I and my wife felt totally misled by the staff and spent an extra $944 and did not get what we were promised. I could have saved the $944 and stayed where we were for the same thing. This was our first trip to the Atlantis and were really hoping for an extraordinary experience, and return year after year. Instead we feel cheated and very disappointed. We did try to make the best of it though and tried to enjoy the restaurants, the dolphins, and golf. But with the stigma associated with the trip, I must say unfortunately it spoiled it for both of us. We have two small children, and as rare as it is we found a few days to get away just the two of us, and were really looking forward to this trip
