Family Trip Christmas 2010

I've just returned from my family Christmas trip to the Bahamas, having stayed at the Wyndham Nassau Resort. This was the worst carribean trip that I have taken in the past five years. The hotel staff were the unfriendliest people that I've ever encountered in the Carribean providing extremely slow slow service at all eating establishments. In addition, the weather was extremely cold leaving little options for outdoor activities so the only alternative was to stay at the hotel. Unfortunately, the activities within the hotel are extremely limited, in fact, abysmal. There was nothing to do - no indoor pool, very poor exercise facilities, no gameroom for kids or adults - NOTHING!!! With that, I wasted a lot of time and money at the Wyndham Resort and wished I had selected another hotel as well as Carribean Island. There was one highlight - JUNKANOO - which we truly enjoyed.

Horrible Experience

I arrived to a hotel fee of $38 per night which I was not informed of. There are very few places around the hotel so you have no choice but to eat at the resort. Prices are extremely high. Breakfast will run you almost $30 (per person) after included gratuity and dinner is well over $40. Seems like the place is a huge scam. After calling down to the front desk when we arrived, we asked about how much calls to the U.S. will be, only to have an associate laugh and tell us it's cheap like calling from anywhere in the U.S. Less then 10 phone calls each lasting between a few seconds and 2 minutes, turned out to be $387. Not even the TV in the room worked (couldn't adjust the volume). Lastly, I check my credit card charges and have over $175 in unexplained charges, which you better believe I will not pay. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

It might seem more expensive, but I strongly reccommend staying at Atlantis. It may seem more expensive up front, but after all these unexplainable charges, Atlantis would have been CHEAPER. Plus, it's all inclusive and one of the only good things I saw in Nassau.

REVIEW OF WYNDHAM NASSAU

this hotel was the worst experience i have had in a hotel of this cost ( $300+ ) the rooms very very dirty and outdated, it literally looked like the original construction, 1970's ???.the room smelled of mold and my entire family suffered the trip with itchy eyes. the maid informed us that all she could offer was full sized towels, they were out of wash cloths and hand towels. the casino was almost empty, but the staff was hopeful that some people would show up....they didnt. enough said.

Don't stay here!!!

We thought booking a suite would guarantee a nice room...it was very old uncomfortable and dirty. The water was shut off twice. The staff was incredibly rude and didn't see why not having running water would be an inconvenience. The cable did not work. We were locked out of our room almost every day...the keys would just stop working. Terrible hotel, terrible service.

Honeymoon disaster!!!!!!!

The hotel is under renovation which we were unaware of so we woke up on occassions to no water at all, no cable so we had to wash our hands with bottle water!!!!!! This was'nt my dream honeymoon i advise anyone taking a trip to any hotel call first and see if there are any renovations going on i would not recommend that area to anyone wright now wait until 2012 because the whole cable beach area is under construction!!!!!!!! One morning we woke up to get something to eat and could'nt because the internet was down in the whole area which effected the atm and credit machines.

This place is a dump.

This place needs to be leveled. Currently they have two towers that are soon to be demolished. IMO they need to demolish the entire complex. It is in need of numerous repairs. The place is simply filthy and in disrepair. Other issues I had .. the occasional drip from somewhere hitting you on the head or back, the view of the abandoned towers (lots of broken windows and boarded up windows), the view of the neighboring complexes that are abandoned or the smell of the rotting seaweed piled up on the beach and next to the building, the bottom of the pool needs cleaning, the pool decking that is broken/cracked/chipped in about 35% of the pool area, the wifi is terrible, staff is unfriendly, my room had oil leaking from the top of the door autoclose mechanism, the handrail on the escalater was visually dirty enough that I would not touch it, the smell of disinfectant was strong (apparently they go thru a lot of spray cans rather than acutally clean anything) ... then there is the $38 per day resort fee that is not part of the included hotel price. Don't waste your money at this place. I rated it a 1 star only because I could not rate it any lower.

Poor facilities

The staff was very friendly and the beaches were nice, but our room was awful. No TV or wifi for 2 nights, no hot water for half our stay, and nearby construction caused our allergies to flare up. Would not recommend this hotel.

good reason is being torn down

The hotel is old and very poorly maintained. The lobby is old and dumpy. Very outdated decor, needs paint all around, not well cleaned, tarnished brass and poor overall condition. Our room was modestly furnished and clean except for the sand in the bathtub. It took two days to receive face cloths. The room our friend stayed in had plywood over one of the windows and faced a construction site. Two of the building in the complex are missing many windows with the curtains blowing in the wind. These towers appear to be completely abandoned The casino is old and rundown and smell musty as does a good deal of the hotel, although the staff was courtious. The only good thing I can say about this property is the price. However, I definately would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

Not Going There Again!

The staff was sometimes friendly and sometimes hostile and often understaffed. There was one woman at the front desk when we checked out and we waited over 20 minutes. The concierge, when asked, said there was no way to get to Rose Island, so I told her 3 ways and mentioned that I was looking for additional information. She was downright rude. She also knew nothing about bus connections from the #10 which ran right outside the front door, nor did she know of other close dining places except at the Sheraton, On the other hand, I got better service and more information from the woman at the Majestic Tours desk who was both friendly, well-informed, and will to find out information that she did not know. The food was extremely expensive and priced the same at every restaurant except the snack bar and the Starbucks (who ever heard of going to a resort and eating most of your meals at the snack bar and Starbucks?) A hamburger, for example, the cheapest thing on the menu, was $18. Three of the restaurants were closed Monday through Wednesday and one was still close on Thursday. When we did eat at the Black Angus the food and service were excellent; the bill was $133 for two people with one drink, a shared salad and a shared dessert -- no sides! The shuttle to the hotel was $32 plus tip; the taxi was $20 plus a little more for the bags plus tip. The "workout room" was 5 machines and the internet was down at least once a day. There were 4 computers for the entire huge hotel. This is not a resort I would go to again.
