Terrible hotel

This hotel was very nasty. The bathroom ceiling, walls were moldy. the carpet had rips in it. There was a lot of noise from Jetskis going back and forth which was quite disruptive to the restful nature of a vacation. The employees were interested in tips. There was no warning about prices of the phone calls back to the US. There was a 30.00 resort fee which was a huge rip-off. The remote controls to the TVs did not work. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not a good resort

The hotel seemed pretty nice upon arrival but once we settled in it was one problem after the next with the wyndham. First off we were woken up a day early buy the housekeeping crew telling us to check out we then had to go downstairs and print out the itnerary they had seen upon check in showing we did not check out until the following day. Once this was cleared up my friend and I went back to the room to get changed and go out. We had some of our clothes in the bathroom and had shut the door to keep the room cool, but when we returned the bathroom door was broken we had to wait for maintanence to come in and fix it. After dealing with this we then were leaving the room to go out but could not get our door to clothes we again had to call maintenance and they had to come in and fix the front door so it would lock when exiting. In addition to these things the food was horrible and terribly expensive to boot last thing I will mention is that the resort makes you wear arm bands to identify you as a resort guest and so secuirty knows your allowed in the resort, But the whole time we were out at the pool their were many people walking around without these bands never being asked to leave by security. This resort seems to sort of build its self up as a family resort but everytime we were poolside or at the beach or even walking around in the casino we were being approached to purchase cuban cigars or various narcotics. efinitely do not go here if you are taking your family.

Filthy and overpriced

The hotel was desperately in need of updating. Peeling paint, broken tiles, broken windows, broken towel racks, etc. The front desk associates were rude. With the ridiculous daily charge they impose for maid service the maids ought to actually clean. Our bathroom was covered in mold (which both myself and my son are allergic to). There were dirty towels in the bathroom when we checked in. It was definately not worth the price. Needless to say we will NEVER return.

do not spoil your vacation

The worst place I have stayed at in the islands. If you want a trip in the past, year 1970, Windham is the place to go. despite the ageing surroundings prepare yourself for dirty carpets, worn out furniture and bathroom toilet and tub, rusty fridge, lots of local teenagers taking over the billiard table, the very primitive water slide, who put up basketball matches until 2-3 am every night, without supervision, nor action from the hotel guards. Nasty personnel, no thank you, no polite attitudes, only pay me. Horrible experience! Avoid the Bahamas! No entertainment whatsoever! No places to eat well either!

Dissatisfaction

After registering at 4pm we were made to wait 1/2 hr for ou room keys. Another party was assigned to our room and the keys had to be changed. Then they were blocked out, so that the lock had to be taken apart and reprogramed. Two of the days our room was not serviced until after 3pm or we called down. The final insult was our bill included $40.00 for maid gratuity ($8.00 x 5 days) When we questioned it we were told it was mandatory. Since when is a gratuity mandatory. We were also charged $22.00 per day for resort fee energy surcharge. This was for April 20 when we checked in at 4pm, April 21, 22, 23 24, and 25 when we checked at 9:30am. Also we had problems with the water as far as taking a shower went. All in all a distasteful experience and one we would not like to repeat.

Orbitz reps were no help

Hotel was nice for the money but I tried to contact Orbitz because of the delayed flight and missed conecter in Miami to see if we could get a later flight on the day we were leaving since we lost our fist day and were only there for 3 days and they gave us the run around and told us it would cost 400. to change it...

Hell in paradise!!!

The jacuzzi was good, the view from the room was OK and the bar called 22 above was great due to the drinks and the friendly staff, However this hotel had the worst service ever; When we first came they brought our luggage and left it at the door 10 minutes after we already walked in our rooms making our luggage vulnerable to getting stolen, the sheets were not replaced or cleaned and i had to call room service a lot to bring essential items such as soap, rags and other necessary items. The staff were very unfriendly and we have even received a lot of irate looks. The food was very pricey and tasted horrible, we went to a buffet called Seaside and the price was outrageous, the service was awful and the food tasted terrible . We had a hard time with the beverage machines, the beverages did not match the pictures on the machine. They charged for internet. Gratuity is charged for everything even when you get items yourself. Turning the A/C off was a problem even when you turn the switch to off it still remain on so the room was always cold without our choice of how warm or cold we wanted the room. This hotel was one of the worst experiences that we had to endure.

Missing the Bahamas, not this hotel!
San Francisco, CA
Jul 27, 2009

The Bahamas is Great, this Hotel is not!

The only thing I can say was good about this hotel was the room and the view. That was it, the room was big and bed was nice, and we could see the ocean. But that is where it ended. The Staff, except for a select few, were rude beyond measure. If you tried to double check something, such as your check out time, they will just give you attitude back or say, "Were you not listening to me mon!" Which is exactly what I was told to the very word. They will charge you for everything that comes your way. Lets say you want to get something from the little so called mini-mart, they add 15% gratuity there! Why am I tipping the person I am simply buying a soda from? Around the pools, when there was supposed to be a Life Guard, for 5 days that we were there I never once saw a life guard at anytime of the day. Given we did go out, and had somethings to do, I never saw one while we were actually at the hotel, EVER! The maintenance on the buildings is so so. If its raining, which it did for us a few days. STAY IN YOUR ROOM! The hotel has soo many leaks, they try to put towels down to catch the water, not even buckets. And after a while you are walking in puddles through your hotel since the towels cant hold anymore. Now I could have seen past most of this, and believe me there were a lot of small things beyond this that were adding up. I know this seems like a rant, but I rarely leave a survey like this for anything. I am generally happy and can see past most things, but the one thing that really made me so angry and mad is when we needed some help. At 4 AM my wife was having some problems with her shoulder. Its a long story but I was simply trying to get her some tylenol or advil to help relieve the pain. So I called guest services, they told me to wait till 8 AM when the mini-mart opened. I walked down to the Front Desk in hopes their emergency kit would have something. But this put me over the top. Their so-called emergency kit, was a metal box from the 50's or 60's, and had a small bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, a small bottle of Rubbing Alcohol, a few rubber gloves, and small small bottle of stuff that you would plunge a syringe into. I AM NOT LYING. I really wish I was lying about this, but I was so mad at this point that I am going to write this review on many sites. If you really care about safety for yourself, or your family, DO NOT STAY HERE! The simple fact they have no emergency kit, and I would doubt any kind of EMT training, has made me hate this place so much, that I will never stay at a Wyndham resort ever again! One last note, The Sheraton and the Wyndham have apparently merged around the Crystal Casino, and you can use all of the facilities at the Sheraton, but guess what? They are just as incompetent as those at the Wyndham. Avoid BOTH!

The food in this hotel is so ridiculously expensive that after seeing our bills, we have decided, and I will share this with you as well, that if we do go back to the Bahamas we are going to stay at the Sandals resort. Here is why, yes it seems more expensive by a lot, but Sandals includes your food, drinks, room service and a ton of water activities that were scarce if found at all at the Wyndham that you have to pay for. With how the prices alone of food are set, we should have booked Sandals in the first place as it cost us the same amount if not slightly more! I know this since our friends that we went down there with, stayed at Sandals cause they were getting married. That was the best part of the trip, we got into Sandals to be with them have fun, and not have to pay a dime cause they even took care of us, and we were not staying there! If you are traveling as a couple or family, stay at Sandals as the average cost of food for 2 was around $80 or more per meal. I wish I was lying on that one to, and we did not order the most expensive food. Our first meal was $92 or so, and that was for 2 glasses of wine, a salad and 1 entree. Oh and the mandatory 15% gratuity on everything they charge at the Wyndham. I would not be surprised if they charged 15% on the $1 charge they make if you have to make a LOCAL call.
