Things begin to close very early in Nassau and Sunday might make it difficult to find local restaurants. Plan ahead for where you might go for meals, so that at 9pm you aren't restricted to only hotel options, which are very expensive. Also, it can be difficult to find vegetarian options in Nassau, just to be expected.

"Great Vacation Destination"
Deji Dec 17, 2009
This is the best hotel I have stayed-in in all my 20 years plus of travelling. The lobby is so grand, majestic, and well ... decorated, the pools were well maintained and there were lots of beach & pool chairs. Live jazz band played on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday nights. Watch out for the Bimini market in the hotel, their food is very expensive, the hotel's food is also pricy as well. Our room was also far from the elevator, but I really didn't mind...walking the distance was a good form of exercise for me and my wife. Overall, this hotel was absolutely fantastic. I consider this vacation money well spent...can't wait to go back.

Try the Fish Fry restaurants (open from 12 noon - 12 midnight), this is where some of the locals eat, but I tell you the food was delicious, well prepared and presented and not expensive. We ate there 5 nights consecutively. The people in these restaurants were very friendly and the food was really good. It's not too far from the hotel, about 10 minutes and you'll only pay $1.25 to get there. Mind you, buses stop running around 6:45pm - 7:00pm. To get a taxi from there back to the hotel will cost you between $12 - $14 depending on the driver, negotiate the taxi fare before boarding it. So many night clubs to go downtown...you'll love everyone of them.

Bakers Nov 11, 2009
The location on the beach is great, and there are several beautiful pools. The room was nice and had a good, partial view of ... the beach, even though we were "resort view". Nice exercise room. Food was expensive so we only ate one meal there, and that was with a half price coupon that we won at a booth with a prize wheel at the airport. The local bus service is easy and cheap and great to get in and out of town. There were some small ants in the room, but the room was clean and well maintained. Big screen TV. Staff was friendly. Casino is convenient, but we only went briefly.

"Convenience fees" can kill your budget!
First-time in Nassau Nov 3, 2009
The "convenience fees/built-in gratuities" were excessive to the point of blowing the budget we had for any excursions away ... from the hotel. Just the fees and meals alone(not even 3 meals per day) cost an additional $700 to the trip and we were only there for 5 nights! Thankfully the internet was free. The food was not tasty at all. The silver lining was the buffet at the adjoining Wyndam hotel.

Fantastic trip
Sunshine Oct 23, 2009
The room was a very pleasant surprise. We had purchased a resort view room and were upgraded to an ocean view at no ... additional charge because they didn't have any resort view rooms available. Not only did we have a fantastic view of the ocean we also had a beautiful view of the pool area. The only thing that would have been nice is to have a table to accompany the two chairs outside on the balcony. One thing to beware of is the bottled water that they place in the room is not free unless you are a Preferred Starwood Member(easy to sign up).
Traveler type: Family
Typically the vendors downtown at the straw market are less expensive and more willing to barter with you on pricing than vendors you will find near the hotels and tourist attractions. Also, liquor stores will try to tell you that if you purchase liquor made in the Bahamas it is considered a souvenior and doesn't count against the 2 litre limit per person. This is not true, the 2 litre limit applies regardless of what you buy!

Our last trip was to Cancun - The Royal in Cancun (4star hotel/all inclusive including alcohol!). Comparing this trip to ... Cancun - cost of trip, service, accomodations, food, alcohol beverages, etc....By far Cancun wins hands down! We felt most of the people on the island were not friendly - from service in the hotel, cab drivers, Majesty Tour Bus and service outside the hotel - , the food in the hotel was horrible and over priced. There was a wedding in the courtyard of the hotel and the music was so loud we could not even here our TV - when I called the front desk - In so many words I was told that their function was more important than my stay!!!!!

Mom Oct 20, 2009
I've read the other reviews after I booked my flight and was scared. Was hoping I had luck but its all true. The first front ... deskman we dealt with could not expl to me any of the fees at all. Hidden fees, a bit excessive: bellman fee, gratuity, service gratuities: $18/perperson/per day. I complained about that b/c it took them 5 hrs to bring up toothpaste. The front desk girl kept calling and asking if the guy came yet.We had already left and came back and had to stop at the desk to ask again. it seems like a bunch of kids are running the front desk. Towels aren't so good either. all in all we wanted to enjoy our vacation. I mean you dont spend all this money to complain so much. would i stay there again....very most likely no!
