A corporate getaway

The hotel itself is pretty nice, but requires renovation. Some things don't work. I couldn't open my balcony door no matter how hard I tried. The staff is not extremely nice or supportive, but for the concierge Diane who gave us a few good advices and helped with reservations.

Okay but not great

Our stay at the hotel was decent but not outstanding. The grounds are well kept, most of the staff is friendly & helpful and the rooms are spacious & comfortable. There seems to be a lack of ventilation in the entire building which was quite evident from the moment we stepped into the lobby. Our first room was in the east wing of the hotel and the smell of mold & mildew was so strong that even after having the balcony door open for a while was too much to bear. When I asked to the housekeeper passing by in the hall she said "yeah all the rooms are like this." I called the front desk who then sent housekeeping up with febreeze & air freshener which just made a perfumed smelling mildew odor. I called again and this time they were kind enough to change our room to the west wing which had significantly milder mildew smell. The only other room mishap was the sliding door handle snapping off while trying to open it. Another big minus is how expensive EVERYTHING is in that hotel. I can understand paying $40-50 per person for a nice dinner, but $20 for a cup of coffee, an OJ, and 2 croissants is a little ridiculous, especially since they add in a 15% gratuity for getting it @ a starbucks counter. My advice if staying here is to pack some granola bars, and your own snacks & save your $ to splurge on dinner. The buffet was even $25 per person, not including gratuity. I don't think I would stay here again, simply because of the outrageous prices for food and the crazy expense of taxis to go anywhere outside the hotel. I know there were public buses available but after the near death experience these two single girls had after getting bad directions from the bell hop we stuck to the taxis, which never cost less than $15 each way

l went down there for 3 day vacation ,our room was perfect ,it has a gorgeous view they have balkony which is also great ,the only negative thing about room is that sheets were smell very bad:S the rest of the room was perfect by the way they don't have wifi in the room they have in the lobby.foods are expensive so you might go fish fry which is an area that include many local restaurants we ate in frankie bananas(it is not that expensive)..One of the day in our trip we decided to eat Telegraph bar(in sheraton)i orderbunch of food such as bufola wings salmon but they responded that they dont have so we have to order french fries ,l was shocked because it was exactly like a potato chips lays we were starving but we didnt have chose because location is far a way to downtown and it was late but rest of the vacation beach, pool was wonderfull ,staff were so helpfull they have live music at 9:00 till 11:00 everynight it was fun you should go sheraton but dont order french fries:)

Great Customer Service

Staff was very friendly; they reflected the overall warmth of the island's people. It is located on Cable Beach, which is about 20mins drive to Nassau, and 15 mins from the airport. Its far enough to stay away from the hustle, and near enough to get there quickly. You can take public transportation there for $1.25 each way and the buses run almost every 5 mins up till 7pm. Otherwise taxis can cost $20 each way The beach there is really calm, and the water is somewhat different than the rest of the island(doesn't seem as salty). Great place for a quiet weekend. While there visit Fish Fry, its on the way to Nassau, try to conch fritters, conch salad. In Nassau, there's the po*op deck; I know it sounds weird, but the food is good and its where all the locals go to. Tipping is a bad habit there, they will openly ask to tip for things you didn't ask for, like on the public buses, "tour guides" will start rattling off facts and then ask for tips.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Don't tip a lot, or at all. Also, alcohol is super expensive, better off buying the alcohol at duty free and making your own drinks. Drinks can run $15 upwards at the hotels; a bottle there can run the cost of 2 cocktails. Best time to travel is mid September, Tourism slows down a lot, and they run a lot of really low specials, and the water is still warm there. Any later than October and things get a little colder.

Great girls vacation!!!

From the arrival to the end, the Bahamians were very friendly and welcoming. The staff went out of their way to assist and to give good recommendations based on what you requested. I would love to visit again and I even invested in the "Bahamar"!! Shout out to Martiva, Levad, RKelley, Philip, Geo and a few others that made this a wonderful, fun filled vacation!!!

Great for a Quiet Vacation

The hotel claims it is a resort but I felt that the amenities were lacking. We had a lot of rain, but instead of relocating the outdoor events which could have been done inside, they just cancelled them instead. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on food. There are no real restaurants or stores nearby so unless you get a cab or catch the bus be sure to bring lots of money to eat. The food was very overpriced and of an average quality.

Take the bus downtown or to the Fish Fry it only costs $1.25 but a taxi will cost between $15-20. Be careful as the bus stops running at sunset.
