Epic rip-off

$36 per day in mandatory gratuities that were not part of the hotel price would be bad, but the terrible service for which we were forced to pay $36 a day made it even worse. If you need anything from the staff (e.g., an iron that was supposed to be in the room anyway), be ready to wait for hours and make several calls. Also, be ready not to have heated swimming pools or hot water in the shower. If you are planning on eating during your stay, be ready to spend exorbitant prices for bad food (especially if it's room service, which will be cold and soggy when it comes to your room).

hidden fee's

Food expensive, hidden costs. Didn't appreciate the men who try to "sell you anything you need!!". Being approached at the bar and in the pool is very inappropriate. Very surprised that the hotel lets that go on. Not appropriate for children, would never stay or recommend to anyone.

Sheraton Nassau

Fees and cost of food was a negative; stay in town close to many choices that are much cheaper-the Hilton is downtown and was the same price overall. Staff was very friendly was a plus but did little to help with cost of food that was not particuarly good. [...]

Electrical problems - Stay Away!!!

I'm not planning to return to this hotel ever again. I'd like to start of saying that I have full permission from the management of this hotel to write this review. Specifically, Rufus, front desk manager who said, "Do what you have to do," in response when I told him I would be writing about this on the Internet. I stayed over Easter weekend 2010 for 4 nights in total. Staff overall seemed very put out that they were the ones assigned to work on Easter weekend. I had major problems 3 out of the 4 nights. Details below. My advice would be to NOT stay at this hotel. Major problems. Our problem started on our 2nd night there. We had been gone from our room for 12 hours (we left at 9 AM, toured Nassau and Paradise Island and returned to our room at 9 PM). Upon return to our room, we noticed that our lights in our bathroom did not work anymore. We called the front desk and they said they would take care of it. We waited 30 minutes, nothing happened. Next, we go in person to the front desk and they call and finally after almost 1 hour of waiting, our lights in the bathroom work. The next day, we leave our room to go to dinner for 1.5 hours at the hotel restaurant (after dropping $70 on 2 entrees and drinking water), we return to our room and the bathroom lights are not working again. This time it takes them about 30 minutes to get the lights working again. The very next morning, we leave the room to have breakfast at the hotel (45 minutes), and when we return, sure enough the bathroom lights are not working again!!! I can understand if something goes wrong and the hotel has to fix it, but 3 DAYS IN A ROW is UNACCEPTABLE!!! At no point in all of my many visits to the front desk, was I offered another room, or a permanent solution to my problems. Staff acted like I was bothering them with my problems. At some point, the maintenance person at the hotel did visit my room to explain that the circuit breaker was tripping which was causing my problem. He also said that all 9 floors and the rooms around mine were all hooked into the same circuit breaker.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

When booking on [...] try to select the option that includes breakfast. There is no refrigerator in the room (not in our basic room at least) and there is no where close to eat breakfast outside the hotel. Breakfast Buffet is $22 per person per meal!

wonderful experience

The beach and pool were perfectly relaxing. At night, ir was only a $20. cab ride to all the action of the Atlantis. The only disappointing fact was there were no really plush restaurants in the hotel.Staff was very friendly and helpful!

my stay

The staff in the hotel were not friendly, seemed like we were an imposition for them. service at the Binimi market restaurant was horrible, food was not very good and very expensive. The keys to the room did not work right. the door to the room need to be raplace it had huge cracks in it from someone trying to brake in. The room was small half the lights did not work. The bathtub had mold on the splash wall. Another wall in the bathroom has a quarter size hole in it. We had to ask seveal times for towels that were not left. We were charged for items that we did not used.

WASTE OF MONEY

First I want to say the Bahamian people are extremely nice and polite and the ocean/beach is beyond beatiful BUT dont go and waste your money in Sheraton hotel -here is why :When we first walked in to the hotel it was a bit of shock seeing how small and 3 star quality it was with the price we paid. After we checked in to our room we realized our carpet was soaking wet.The reception offered us another room only by paying more due to better view which we didnt accept( if that was somewhere else we would have get the better room at the same charge)So they sent someone to fix the problem , the guy told us to put some towels to dry it out...Thats what we did for 2 days!We were starving around 7:30 pm and asked for the food options , they only had a buffet (EXTREMELY OVER PRICED ) and an Italian restaurant. The buffet had taco night so we decided going to the Italian , food was ok ,over priced for sure , service extremely slow. They only had 3 tables at that time and it took 30 mnts to get our check - we ended up paying it on the way out tired of waiting. On our first morning we went to the buffet for our breakfast and saw some tacos from last night :) and after breakfast comes another shock by the pool; The main pool is about 4 ft deep and soooo small , the second pool has SOME areas around 5 feet and the third one is like a children pool with a small waterfall. The only good thing about the pool area was the quietness. It feels like you are on your private pool well if you can swim …Actually that also ruined on our last day when more people arrived to the hotel and the main pool was too crowded for a total 20 people! The bar over the pool closes at 5:00 pm / not much music and the beverages taste bitter. Also lots of flies...Not clean ...The beach was beautiful super clear turquoise water. If you want to ride the jet ski it's 75 dollars for 30 mnt , if you want to go fishing it is 420 dollars for 30 mnt ! The hotel also has a small bar by the lobby which is below average, they have couple computers across from the bar that you can access your emails but there are always people waiting on line because there is absolutely NOTHING to do in this hotel. We tried the casino which is in a walking distance ,closes at 2:00 am,the table games are only open after Thursday the slot machines are OK , again it is small . In the evening we were already bored and wanted to go to Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island and asked the information desk about the hotel and directions ... She told us there is not much to see there too many people and so on ...Luckily we didnt listen to her and after a 15 mnt taxi drive we were in HEAVEN . I'm so glad we found out about Atlantis at the beginning of our trip because we ended up going there every single day , beautiful hotel , casino , good food ( the grill by the casino has tasty phillies and burgers with good price). The ambience makes you feel like you are on holiday ,we also had a chance to stroll around their pool and it was again beautiful. The true Bahamas! [...] While vacationing many people expect to have good time with activities ,gambling, staying up late but there is absolutely nothing to do in Sheraton. Why to waste your money if you cant swim in a real pool, dont have much food options,no activity,no music,no place to hang out ,not many people around ? The only good thing was the beach so my final word is STAY AT ATLANTIS !

The good, the bad, and the worst...

Our experience was one that started with the front desk. I almost felt like we were intruding! We got there, all excited, but were greeted like we should have stayed home. This was also the experience of everyone we talked to on the beach, and the bar. I am amazed at the attitudes the staff has towards guests. You almost feel like you invaded their homes, and they want you out as soon as possible. The food was awful, and terribly over priced. I would venture to guess that 10% of the hotel staff was actually NICE, the other 90% could care less if you were there or not. This seemed to be the general consensus on the entire island. Very few people here are friendly, and I find that quite odd as this is supposed to be "paradise". I will never come back to the Bahamas again due to this experience. We could not find a decent meal anywhere, and got sick the third day here to boot! I would like to state, we are a couple in our 30's, and are open to anything. Sadly, the few great things were the Atlantis aquarium, and the beach area outside the hotel. BUT BEWARE!!! Do not, and let me repeat DO NOT rent any equipment from the beach rental companies! They let us drift stranded in the ocean for almost 30 minutes, and we were actually rescued by a family in a boat, not even the rental staff! Oh and they gave us NO REFUND! Just offered to give us another piece of garbage rental...NO THANKS! I am still shaking my head over that experience. I feel bad for anyone who stays here. This place is dingy, out dated, and in need of a MAJOR over haul! Good riddance Nassau.....you will not see us again.

Very unkind people

People at this Sheraton are not kind at all. They tried to deceive me and double charge for my room service. I could eventually correct the issue by showing them my bank transaction history from my macbook. They never apologized for their mistake. Worst hotel experience ever!
