Nassau Sheraton 2.18.13
Went to the Wyndam Hotel last year and really enjoyed the Bahamas but wanted to get a little nicer hotel this year so I booked the Sheraton next door......It really was not any nicer than the Wyndam ....The Wyndam is a virtual ghost hotel now ......There is NO ONE staying there.......I don't know how they keep their doors open.......They are waiting for this MEGA Vegas style club going up next door called the BAHA MAR .......It's being built by the Chinese with a lot of Bahamas govt. money and they still haven't found a partner to bankroll the gambling side of the facility...........Anyway, if you like this area of the island and want oceanfront, then The Sheraton appears to be your only choice........The food is outrageously priced so I ate at the "Fish Fry" almost every day......$54 for to 2 plates of spaghettii at the Sheraton???? Not in my world.....They also always tack on another 18% gratuity.......The people their are very nice........Did not go to Atlantis on Paradise Island.....Maybe next time.

Don't eat in the hotel.....It is WAAAAAAAY too expensive......Eat at the "Fish Fry"......Take the bus for $1.25 per person each way, not the taxi's for $15.....Take the taxi to/from airport for $20, NOT the Sheraton Shuttle for $40........Don't buy Cuban cigars.........Buy Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee at the grocery store in town next to the harbor area wear all the ships are docked........Best in the WORLD.

Very nice, not over the top hotel.
We arrived early to the hotel but were able to check in right away. Moved us up to the eight floor for a very nice view. Rooms were very clean and hotel staff were always friendly. Food and service at the swim up bar were very good. By the second day they knew us well. We even spent one afternoon riding around the island with one of the lifeguards, who on his day off, gave us a personal tour. Thanks again for that Jerome, that was a great day! Hotel not crowded, did get a little busier a couple days when people from the cruise ships came to the beach. The grounds and the beach are very nice. Hotel is a little older but who cares when your in the pool with a Kalik in your hand! If you want a canned vacation, I would go to paradise Island (did it ). If you want to see and experience things this is a great place. Sunday nights at fish fry a must ( party night for the locals ). Go to the grillmaster, right east of Frankie gone bananas. Best lobster on the island! only open Thursday - Sundays.

I guess you get what you pay for?
It was a OK hotel pool is not heated. Resort charge$40 a day than 15% tip aded to all food and beverage.? When asked to extend stay by a few hours because flight was leaving late had to pay$65 extra. Hotel is getting older and it shows so it should be reevaluated what they charge!!!!

good value
Went for a long weekend with a few friends, prices in the hotel for food/drinks were very high. 38$ for dinner buffet, 25$ for lunch, 7.50 for an American beer, 9.00 for a mixed drink. There is a grocery store and reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance though so it's not too hard to avoid spending that kind of money. There's a liquor store in the hotel with bottles of liquor cheaper than home. Outside/beach area is very nice with plenty of chairs and places to hang out. Staff was friendly. Overall definitely worth the money.

Fun times but very expensive food
The hotel overall was good, staff was friendly and helpful. Concierge were very nice and gave us some good tips on places to go see. Didn't like how expensive food is but it seems that it is not just the hotel but the whole island. We decided to get a fridge in our room ($10.00/night) and go to the grocery store to get some snacks and refreshments to keep in our room, also, there is a nice restaurant (I think it was called pot and cake) within walking distance that was a little cheaper and had good food. Overall hotel was good and we would go back

Nice family hotel, but expensive!
I enjoyed our stay, but was disappointed with the fact that they put a gratuity on everything….i have no problem tipping for a sit down meal but when your buying a muffin and a bottle of water from the coffee shop I don't agree with a gratuitiy added to your bill!!!!! and the hotel was extremely expensive to purchase anything!!! room service pancakes $27.00!!!!

Perfect for families!
If you're looking for a calm, relaxing, and peaceful vacation spot for your family, this place is for you! The atmosphere of the hotel is perfect for the family. It literally has something for everyone. I especially appreciated the Kid's Club. My daughter had a wonderful time doing all sorts of activities, while my husband and I had some time to ourselves. A lot of people have commented on the poor quality food. If you stick with the Italian restaurant on the first floor, you'll be fine. It is excellent food. Expensive but everything is expensive there because they import 97% of all their goods. The service there was up and down but, again, you can't beat the gorgeous view, fresh seafood, and convenience. The only drawback of this island is the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables; if you're a vegetarian, you will have a difficult time finding things to eat. Despite this, we're definitely coming back to this hotel and island.

Good Resort and Location
We stayed for 6 nights and 7 days. Everything was good the first 2 nights, until I saw the dirty sheets that they changed and then it all went bad because we got bitten by bed bugs for the last 4 nights. I think when they changed the sheets they stirred up the bed bugs and we got bites all over our bodies. When we got home we steamed cleaned everything just in case it got into our luggages. We thought it was misquito bites from our excursions but they did not look like misquito bites after a couple of days. We have not had a chance to call the hotel and let them know yet, but it definitely clouded our relaxation time with itchiness.

Keep refilling bottled water in their gym's water station, take some anti-bac wipes from the gym & disinfect the phone/remote/toilet seat & other surfaces before settling inside the room. Shop at the grocery store & keep snacks/drinks inside the room for late-night cravings. Request for room by the pool. EnJOY!
