Nice place to start Bahamas

We stopped for a night before boarding a tall ship for a week of cruising. We were happy to spend and afternoon and evening just hanging out here and start to unwind. Nice & quiet for hanging out and reading. Food in restaurant is adequate, but no more. The beach across the street is pretty, but had too much broken glass -- the litter is one reason to avoid Nassau, in my book.

Relaxing Get Away

This is a great little inn if you just want to escape for awhile. Very laid back. It's a across the street from a nice beach. The beach was the best thing about inn. Most of the time the beach was empty, so it was almost private. The inn is a little worn around the edges, but the staff and owners are very nice and friendly. This is not a resort, but if you're looking for a personal and relaxing experience this is a great place.

Convenient overnight between flights

We simply wanted a place to stay between flights and this worked out fine. Very friendly manager (the hand-lettered sign on the door says 'Fawlty Towers') with on-site kitchen preparing good meals at fixed times. It feels like more of a B&B with outside rooms than a motel. Not for the spring break crowd, but we enjoyed a sunset walk along the 3/4 or so mile beach. Nicely planted grounds. It appears to be becoming surrounded by gated high-end housing.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Not a time-saver, but be sure to allow more time than you think you need to process through the Nassau airport! We cut it very close leaving in the a.m. to island-hop. Going back through security at the Nassau airport to return to the U.S.A. is not a procedure we would like to ever repeat.

Great Getaway

Excellent hotel for people looking for a more authentic visit to the Bahamas versus the glitz and gaudiness of Cable Beach and Paradise Island. Great location away from Cable Beach but a bus ride away from Nassau and other points of interest. [...] who runsOrange Hill is a great host and provides a warm and friendly atmosphere. The bar is great and the food is good and moderately priced.

Extremely Rude Staff

The hotel was average at best and they overcharge for everything. Dinner was an overpriced nightmare. Dry and simple food for $20 a person! But that wasn't the worst part about the hotel. The staff treated you as though you were in prison. Acting like you owed them something and demanding that you do things that they didn't want to do! Outrageous, I will never return to Nassau again!

Quiet and Great People-not for everyone

We were there on a kitesurfing trip. Great location for North winds, with a great beach with zero people. The resort areas would be no good. Free parking for rental car. At first we were a bit weary of the place as it's defiantly a bit run-down. However, the staff is fantastic. The owners live on-site and will do anything to help you out. If you are planning on just hanging out at the hotel during your trip you'll probably be very disappointed. You also really need a car if you're going to venture around the island. It seemed to be a very safe place to stay, but like any island you need to be cautious. It's not a family location and probably not where you want to be with kids. Most people I meet seemed to be passing through, business people or island residents.

Friendly people and great view

We traveled from Abaco to Nassau the night before our scheduled departure back to Boston. The Orange Hill Motel was a really good place to stay for the night. It is a very basic hotel with friendly staff, a wonderful view of the ocean and is close to the airport. My husband and I were glad our friends told us about Orange Hill. We found it to be great value for the cost.

Very nice for the price

We stayed at the hotel with our small children for 10 nights and were really happy for the place. It's not a luxurious hotel, but it's clean, peaceful and cheap. Perfect for a family like us, who wanted to relax and just take it easy. The hotel is a bit far away from the downtown, restaurants or stores, but there is a bus going next to the hotel every 20 mins or so (takes about 15 mins to get to downtown, 1.5 $). In addition, you can easily go to the grocery store with the owner who goes there every day at certain time. There's a small restaurant also at the hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a nice and very peaceful beach right by the hotel, with a beautiful coral reef. Take your snorkel with you, you can reach the reef easily by swimming a couple of hundreds of meters from the shore.
